South Africa does have the economy to support 1M+ immigrants, infact the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) estimates there are over 1.5 M Zimbabweans in SA.

SA per capita income is over $12,000 while Nigeria's is under $5,000, so why wouldn't there be 800K Nigerians in SA?

And, I remembered How I was treated by fellow Black citizens of South Africa while studying in the University in South Africa. I think there are alot that you can do to change the mentality of those who still thinks some black people are foreigners in Africa and deserves to be treated badly. Many Nigerians do not know some Nigerians have losted Millions in the last 24 hours in Durban, South Africa as South Africans protesters have looted their shops. This is a normal occurrences here in SA. I believe Africa and Africans can only achieve their best when we love each others and not see each others as threats. I also equally condemned Nigerians engaging in illegal activities in SA.

I think you'll find that generally we appreciate lawful and law-abiding immigrants from all parts of the world, including the African continent, especially students and professionals.

As someone who lives in SA I think you can appreciate that this is not always the case in other sectors of society, especially in lower income areas including squatter camps and CBDs. You know Hillbrow, Yeoville, Berea, Sunnyside are always quoted in relation to Nigerians and bad dealings - and I welcome that u condemn those illegal activities. Its our wish in SA that more of your countrymen do likewise instead of protecting these nasty elements. My sense from Nigerians on NL is they are quick to deny these things happen and accuse South Africans of jealousy.

You mentioned your own number of possibly 400K Nigerians living in SA. In all fairness, that is a huge number of which I doubt the SA government has approved. Their own stats hover around 50K. So with scarce resources for illegal immigrants in SA, how do u reckon the rest of the 350K are making a living in SA? Yes, I'm told you are entrepreneural, which I believe is misleading in SA terms, but let's assume there are some who sell in the streets or in shops. Question is: how do they pay taxes if they are undocumented and always running from immigration officers?

You know my default position as a South African is that most of them are involved in illegal or undesirable activities, which is what Nigerians back home don't want to hear or admit. Below I've attached a news report by a Nigerian journalist who travelled to Johannesburg to "discover" the inner workings of Nigerian hustlers in the city. His findings were damning.

So I like that u sound like a rational human being whom I wouldn't mind engaging with in real life, so I hope we can be frank with one another for the benefit of your homies back home after u read this article. And again I reiterate that documented Nigerians are bound to engage in legal activities, its the rest I am more concerned about.
