Thanks for the input I understand you. Does it mean that once English is the official language,
nothing else matter more?

For language reasons which is a major issue in Germany, I would advice the UK. Haven been in Germany for about 2 months, I can say it’s not easy for people who don’t have comprehensive knowledge of German or don’t anyone who do.
As all paper work done here are in German language.

I am curious to hear from people who have had a fair experience or idea of living in both countries. Thanks.

Yes the language Can be a barrier but since he said job is secured ,I would say Germany.

1) no school fees until the peak of the kids education

2) no extra hidden charges on health insurance for normal clinic waka sha.

3) you get off work anyhow with excuss of wanting to watch after your kids (don't over push It anyways)

In my opinion If job is secured I would pick Germany over and over again.

Oh and I forgot. Security is another added advantage

Ps. I never stay UK sha. So this is from my stay in Germany

Guys I made it to Germany.

It's just over a week since I got here so I'm still settling in. The weather is nice and Warm, no complaints about that.
The entire process took 1 month and 1 week after my Visa interview

And concerning the issue with my change of name (check page 59 and 60). It wasn't an issue. I asked the Embassy officer directly and he said it's not a problem as long as your academic documents BEAR THE SAME NAME AS YOUR PASSPORT.If your birth cert has a different name Just take the legal change of name document along with you. He looked at it but he said there's no need to submit it.
NOTE: This is for work Visa. I don't think it applies to family reunion since your name is the only way of establishing the relationship.

Thanks for all the Info and encouragement guys! I don't have much experience with the system here but I'm open to other questions before the Visa i.e Application process, requirements, Travel Insurance etc

What airline you used?

Good evening everyone please can someone help me out here. What happens to a woman who puts to bed while waiting for her visa? Like, will the child go through the process of booking for an appointment and waiting for one year all over again? Please someone should help me out. Thanks much

Call the embassy Monday to Thursday 9_11

Or send an email

The child does not need an appointment as I know

My thought as well, when a friend I knew gave birth while waiting for her visa approval, she just sent mail to them about the birth.

I think what the others mentioned above are valid. However I think you would need a passport for your baby and send to the embassy. I have a friend in same situation right now, the process is almost complete but there is a delay because he is yet to get a passport for the baby.

Congratulations on your newborn baby by the way.

Have you gotten appointment or gone for interview? If not, you don't need to book a separate appointment for the baby. But you have to contact the embassy to hear from them.

I understand that since the documents you are using to support your application are issued from Nigeria, they are most likely to send a lawyer for verification.
Germany like most other countries don’t trust anything from Nigeria.
They will check the neighborhood you grew up from and schools attended just to prove your identity.
Good luck

Thank you for your response.

Hello dear,

My spouse applied for the reunion Visa from an Arab country, it's been almost 2 Months ago and he hasn'treceived any reply yet. There has been no reference for a verification of marriage by a lawyer thus far. We are still impatiently waiting on a feedback from them.

The wait is do tiring. Hopefully everything works out. Thanks for responding.

dear Fabulousaify, I am actually in the same situation as you are right now. I put to birth last year October, my husband booked an appointment for passport application for my son since he's a citizen, I went for the interview in December, the lawyer came for verification of the birth certificate in April and since den I haven't heard anything. it's really a trying tmy for me because taking care of a child alone isn't easy on me and for a first tmy mum is very hard.

this waiting period for my visa and child's passport hasn't been easy. I just pray it's over soon, I've been sent an email that my documents verification was successful since September last year, I guess it's because I put to birth here in Nigeria and my son's German passport is what is taking time. please does anyone know how long this child's passport process will take, at least from experience because their website says 4months or more. I miss my husband and the fact that my husband hasn't met his child is slowly driving him into depression

Sorry abt this, it's so sad embassy takes forever to issue German passport, but I think is faster if u get a nigerian passport for d child and apply 4 d visa den whn u get to Germany u apply for German passport for the child cuz processing German passport from Nigeria takes forever.

dear oriaku1 I have a friend who applied for a German passport for her daughter and went for the interview d same day I did, she's in Germany nw as I speak since May although her husband had to get a family immigration lawyer and I called the embassy before I started this passport process for my child and they said I should apply for my child a German passport not visa
Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Oriaku1: 12:34am On Jul 15, 2021
Just as u said they used an immigration lawyer, dats d reason it went fast... My husband is a German too but we did Nigerian passport for our son 2 apply. whn we get 2 Germany we can apply for his German passport there cus d process is faster there. The embassy always ask ppl 2 apply 4 German passport 4 their kids knowing fully well it takes forever, your child has dual nationality so the child has d right to apply with Nigerian passport. Cuz is faster. A lot of ppl r in dis ship, applying 4 German passport from Nigeria is a long thing. May God help all of us!!!

Please house, a friend wants to know where to get the travel health insurance as requested by the embassy, her hubby wants to get from Germany but doesn't know how to go about it. Where can he get the travel health insurance from for those who traveled recently (which office can he get it from) ?? . Can she get the travel health insurance from here(Nigeria) as well and where??. Which one is better, getting it from here(Nigeria)or there(Germany) . Secondly , What's the time duration for the travel health insurance @New 80 and others who did recently please help !
Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by mercy444(f): 11:29am On Jul 15, 2021
if you had ur child after ur spouse got his citizenship den the embassy will tell you to apply for German passport even if that child already has a Nigerian passport Bt if ur child was born b4 ur spouse got his citizenship den u will apply for visa for ur child. dts hw it's done, so d earlier u book for passport appointment, d better, it doesn't tke tmy lyk d visa appointment

I used axa mansard https://www.axamansard.com/insurance/travel/plans/

The duration should have been stated on the email requesting for travel insurance

Hello N/L

I'll like to make an inquiry on a topic that could be somehow off topic to this group but important for me.

If one is given the opportunity to choose between relocating with his/her family to either Germany or the UK with equivalent opportunity of job security in both countries, which country will it be recommendable to take, after all possible pros/cons has been considered

Thanks.

I think (not sure though) that it takes longer to qualify for German citizenship than UK citizenship so you should also consider that.

Language is also a compelling reason for the UK

I believe that cost of living in major cities in the UK is higher though, for example London costs are higher compared to Berlin. Education, including advanced degrees, is free for you and your kids in Germany as well.

Those are my two cents.

By the way I haven't lived in either country I just have family in the UK and I'm moving to Germany
