As a single man in Lagos, to be on 150k is not too good, cos you might not save anything reasonable. Except you want to be extremely managing.

I don't think their is a yardstick for this...It simply boils down to one's mindset...Your mindset determines your life setting...As it covers your goals, dreams and aspirations.

My dad bought a brand new Peugeot 504 in 1977 for N5,000. (Five thousand Naira). I don't know what he earned then. But lets say he managed to save small-small till he bought it and paid complete, once. So let's say he earned N800 (eight hundred) per month.
So he lived well on N800 per month in 1977.
And in 2021, the correct standard car to buy will be Brand new Toyota Corolla (since Peugeot 504 is no longer in production)
And you are saying N300,000 per month in 2021.
Draw the graph and join the line. The N300,000 would be useless by December 2021.

Just as some thinking people have been saying, no amount is actually enough, but I earned 200k a month, I am married and my wife is not working.
I recently saved up and bought a car of around 2.3m naira, I have a plot of land with moderate building on it. I think I am not doing bad at all

Inflation rate is 17% according to Nigerian Bureau of Statistics. Nigerian leaders are trying their best to increase the rate.
So, any amount that is good for good living in Nigeria today will not be anything to write home about in the next six months.

Even human beings are losing value everyday in Nigeria, not to talk of goods.

You all here shouting 200 300 dropping all manners of figures, what should married men and women earning 20 to 40k a month do.

It depends on the part of the country you're in, whether or not you have collaborative income, the demographics of your dependants & their bills and your own bills.


Let's start with 1m per month.

By the grace of God,I earn 700k monthly.
After all statutory deduction, and a additional monthly float I get around 680k net monthly.
I have a daughter and my wife is not working.

I save 300k monthly. I live in a room and parlour mini flat here in lagos for 360k yearly,I can conviniently pay from my one month salary.i don't live large, but at atimes I still struggle with 380k monthly .house expenses, family give aways and all.

I have a reasonable savings in a fix deposit and planning to start a business for my wife to grow our income. But I want to wait till after 2023 elections so that we see the situation.

I thank God the giver of all good things.my life changed when I started attending MFM.I prayed until the change came by fire.
I was once a security man and Uber driver in this lagos as a young graduate.

Anything below earning 200k monthly in Lagos without side hustle will be a real struggle to live a quality life

My brother, how many people earn the 300k self. Even if I say 1m and above its still not enough. We are all managing.

Depends on several factors:

First, what do you personally determine as good living?

Followed by the state you're domiciled, marriage status, and your spending habits & financial IQ.

Most folks travails comes from the last two. Very important.
