Hello, how are you and I hope this meets you well. I have been on here for quite sometime now but never posted ( you know silent members association lol) So you
Might as well consider
Me a new bie and pardon my omissions and excesses.
Quick question, please I’m trying to pursue this new health and care visa route to the uk and I want to know what agency you used for the job applications? In the absence of that that what websites did you use and what certifications did
the employers request for?
Did the employers request for an international passport immediately because my passport isn’t ready yet. Was told it would be out after 6weeks
And I’m fervently praying the Nigerian factor doesn’t come to play and cause another extension. Else I might have to go to Abuja and show them some cool craze . So I want to use this waiting time to gather appropriate documents and get a job. Did you use NARIC for your certificates. Please excuse my long
Post If you don’t mind you can drop an email or a phone number and let me get through to you directly. And everyone who has an info can also chip in and put me through. I appreciate y’all

Good day, please I have gotten 2 jobs with NHS now after going through numeracy and literacy assessments and MS Teams interviews.
But the bottle neck is now is that they are refusing to grant me COS even after attending their welcome sessions and filling the forms they sent to me.
Please is their other way I can get COS or a visa to work in the UK

Ok, just be patient and see. Its not automatic for them to issue COS except no local alternative to you is available. Aside that, there's also their internal application to the Home office in respect of your employ. I read once that they stopped employing medical practitioners from Nigeria and some other countries due to the pandemic ...not sure if this is true or not but try and research it.

Greathand01:
yes I did..I picked the portion of no current UK visa/ will be needed COS

hello family

Please I need answers as I am stock at the moment.

I applied for international passport renewal in April, paid and did everything online.

My issue now is the next steps for capturing. Do I proceed to their office in London without prior booking for capturing or will they still send my booking appointment to me. This is July and my passport expires in November this year.

Thank you.

P.S I am currently in Scotland

Hello house. I always like the idea of owing a house. Recently I had a meeting with my bank natwest and they agree to lend me around £200000 in principle towwrds mortgage as long as it's not a share ownership house. I'm a first time buyer.

I live in Bristol and buying as a single person. As anyone brought a flat with leasehold? I do have a viewing tomorrow but I do want to know if it's worth it.

Run away from flats, run away from council flats, avoid leasehold properties, avoid interest only mortgages, avoid shared ownership properties.......

All the above, avoid like fire is burning your behind......... grin

Freehold and repayment, is your only option...... You might say it's your first purchase of many more to come...........

If this becomes your only purchase nko....... wink

Leasehold is fine. You need to check a few things. What kind of lease is it? What is the service charge? Any covenants on the lease? ie some leases does not allow you have a pet in the flat or rent it out. Ask for the last time repairs like roof, guttering and external cladding was done if any. Stay away from blocks higher than 4 floors (lifts issues) and if possible aim for either a ground floor flat (will give you some outside space) or at most the 1st floor.

Most importantly, ensure the lease has at least 110 years left or factor the cost of extending the lease into the purchase price. This is especially crucial if it is a block of flats as freeholders can be arseholes for lease extensions.

If it's a split house - split into flats, ensure that the lease is a cross lease with the appropriate rights (conveyancer will sort that out anyway) . If a split house, it's crucial that it has been converted properly otherwise it'll bite you at resale. Houses that have been split into flats recently tend to have 999 year leases as well so it's a good as freehold. Plus you get a cross lease over the over flat so you both hold the freehold in the lease if that makes sense.

Where is it located in Bristol? We own a leasehold flat in Brislington (lived there for 3 years then rented it out and bought a house just outside Bath) and my in laws are Bristolians and still live there and own lots of real estate mix of residential and commercial. That's how we got into property as well.

Flats are a good first step onto the property ladder. Plus it's easy to resell especially in Bristol to other FTB when you trade up. PS - Ex council flats are also very good in the right location. They have heaps and heaps of space and hold their prices very well. I agree on staying away from shared ownership.

If I were you, I'd buy and fix for 5 years if that's what fits within your budget. Overpay by the minimum in the 5 years and then re-mortgage to buy a house. Buy close to transport links, make sure it has a dedicated car park and you're good to go!

PS - download the chrome extension property log. It shows you all price changes, reductions, increases, and changes like properties being removed and then re-listed. It gives you a good insight into how the market is tracking.

PSS - If it's a leasehold house on the other hand, run away!

Did you apply for jobs that stated Tier 2 sponsorship applicants are welcome? If yes, you can point it out to them the job advert encouraged you to apply because of this. Even at that it may not yield anything, but one can only keep trying.

If No, ensure jobs you apply for states Tier 2 applicants are welcome. All the best in your search
Exactly, I always check that out before applying, that's why I always wonder if they come up with sponsorship issues again... Thanks ma'am

Best thing is don't pull all your eggs in one basket, some trust delay more than the others, COS can be ready in 24- 48 hrs, while others can delay for like weeks or months, 3 mths, it depends on the trust if you are not satisfied with them, just keep searching for others.

Did you mean with NO stop over?

ABV-LHR
or
LOS - LHR

Via British Airways is your best bet.

Sorry STENON.
‘Cheapest’ and ‘Easiest’ can NOT be used in the same sentence as regards air travel, since March 2020.

Cheapest would be Ethiopian (from LOS or ABV) or EgyptAir or Royal Air Maroc (from LOS).
Problem is: it will entail passing through ‘Red List’ country, hence you wi need to spend £1750 to quarantine in Hotel.

Do the maths.

Hello everyone, pls what is the best way to send money from a Nigerian naira bank account to a Uk pound account? My account officer mentioned something about international funds transfer but does not know the specific exchange rate until the transaction is done. Has anyone tried this or knows any method?
