1936 is not 2021, stop using colony days to counter facts.

They Italian actually occupied Ethiopia.

Lol! My guy na my constituency be this o! You see aviation in Africa leave it for the Southafricans. With an SCAA license you can fly in the US(though conversion to FAA might be mandated), infact it's harder to get an SCAA license than the FAA license.
Nigeria no doubt have capable personnels but we don't have the structures/organisation on ground or if I'm to be a bit harsh individually we're very good but collectively as a group we're almost useless and this is in all facet of administration in the country. Go to NCAT Zaria and see how things are been done anyhow, infact the helicopter flight school established in Enugu by Arthur Eze and managed by NAF have been grounded after only about 7yrs or so of operation.
70% of instructors (Military Pilots) at International helicopter flying school Enugu hold Southafrican flying license.

You're talking about only government institutions.

There are multiple private training and MRO facilities in the country.

In my opinion, South Africa or Nigeria should replace Morocco.

Quantitatively, Qualitatively and mix of platforms Morocco has a better military than Nigeria and South Africa.

This is a flight sim for Typerating and it was just installed recently. You said their are multiple private training and MRO facilities in the country, Oga please name them. We have MROs and yet our airlines fly abroad to do C-check and other maintenance abroad, it's even last year or so Air peace began talks of building an MRO facility in Asaba. Like I said earlier name one privately run aviation school in Nigeria do you think it's child play going into this heavily regulated sector?.

We were talking about training of personnel which you quoted below.

I said as far as training goes I could provide a list of training facilities in Nigeria.

I've done that.

Anything outside of this is a deviation.

This must be a joke I guess. Till tomorrow we still send personnels to Southafrica for flight training. When it comes to aviation the Southafricans are the best both in civil and military aviation in Africa. They're even into Aircraft manufacturing .

You ain't getting the point then, I've never questioned the competence of the men of the NAF in my opinion when it comes to individuals/manpower we are amongst the best in Africa, even the Indians/Pakistanis flight cadets/students in American aviation Institutea always see Nigerians as threat(academically) I've said here before an Aircraftsman/woman in the Airforce will stand toe to toe with a Lieutenant in the army when it comes to training and exposure; but you see this collective organisation/teamwork/administration & management of a thing this is where Nigeria is a washout when placed at par with Indians or South Africans, I know know whether na JuJu.
Southafrica has more than 20 flight schools that are fully operational some dating back to the 60s, in Nigeria we only have three flight schools of which only two are still in operation and both of them are operating in an off/On basis as if they're also under ASUU. You're talking about training facilities aside the ones owned by NAF for Typerating of their personnel which other facilities can you mention that is functional or have being in operation for atleast 5 to 10yrs?
No aviation player will ever tell you Nigeria is better than Southafrica, infact it is very laughable to make such statement. When it comes to aviation the Southafricans are in same class with Indians/Paks.

All this Tuc talk reminds me of the brand-new clean sheet, twin turbo prop attack plan, the TAV, Tactical Aerial Vehicle from Icarus in Quebec.
I FIRST saw the render year and immediately liked the concept.

Like all good ideas, this one began in a bar. The participants were test pilots and flight test engineers, each with a decade or more of experience launching and certifying new airframes. Some had been there at the beginning of the C Series and other Bombardier business jet and multi-mission programs; others had test-flown de Havilland aircraft and even combat platforms. Together, they shared an acute understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of a wide range of new airframes and mission systems.

As the discussion wandered from favorite “ridiculous” requirements to ill-fated project decisions, it eventually settled on a simple question: Knowing the limitations of many airframes, could they design and build a more cost-effective, multi-purpose aircraft?

So was born Icarus Aerospace and its first aircraft, the Tactical Air Vehicle (TAV). The TAV is actually the baseline configuration for a proposed family of specialized aircraft, including a heavily militarized variant called WASP, and a high-altitude platform known as Branta. In short, a clean sheet customized to the requirements of any operator.
https://skiesmag.com/news/flight-icarus-canadian-company-proposes-multirole-tactical-aircraft/

Loads of 1st hand experience from BOTH flyguys and ground support has gone into this product.

90% of the mission capability of modern fighter!
15% of the cost of modern combat jet!
100% Flexibility!
24/7/365 UTILIZATION AND AUSTERE ENVIRONMENTS BY DESIGN!
https://www.icarus-aerospace.com/tactical-air-vehicle-tav//url]

The specs REALLY look good! Check out max payload, speed and G load ISN'T far from the F 16 max of 9 Gs.

MTOW up to 21000lb
+ Wing span: 51ft (15.5m)
+ Length: 52ft (15.85m)
+ Powerplant: 2 x 1700 SHP
+ APU: Optional
+ Optionally installed 360-degree AESA radar
+ Up to two FLIR turrets (chin and belly mounted, retractable)

Performance:
+ VMO: 360 KCAS
+ VSR: 70 KCAS
+ Service ceiling (manned): 36000ft
+ G-loading +8 / -4
+ Service ceiling (unmanned): Mission / Equipment dependent
+ Endurance unrefueled: 6.5Hrs
+ Range w/ 45 min reserve: up to 1300NM
+ Endurance w/ Aux internal fuel: 9Hrs
+ Range w/ 45 min reserve: up to 2000NM
+ Endurance refueled: Crew limit.
+ Takeoff and Landing Distance near STOL

Armament:
+ Up to 11 external hard points
+ Up to 8000Lbs total load
+ One forward firing fixed cannon (customer’s choice)
+ One belly mounted optionally installed (up to 30mm) 360-degree turret cannon
+ Laser guided bombs and rockets
+ GPS guided munition
+ Up to two torpedoes
+ Sonobuoys
+ Anti-ship rockets
+ Air to Air IR missiles
+ Conventional unguided bombs and rockets

Crew: Up to two.
+ Pilot + WSO, Pilot only or Unmanned

Operating conditions:
+ Day, Night, VMC/IMC, All weather, FIKI
+ Gravel and unprepared rough runways
+ Austere Environments
+ Self-deployable

I STILL can't see anything on price but this CPFH which frankly is high.

The aim is an airframe that can be tailored to customer operational needs for a relatively modest acquisition price and a cost per flight hour under $3,000.

I'm hoping its max FAC is 12-15 $. Its a game changer for not just Africa but a tactical multi role craft. Properly deployed in pairs with sensors working and proper FACs in place BH backers will have to go back to the drawing board.
In fact

The aircraft was recently assessed as an option for the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command (SOCOM) Armed Overwatch program, which is seeking a dedicated multi-role platform able to deliver precision munitions to replace the U-28A Draco — a militarized version of the PC-12 turboprop that provides ISR capability.

Also...
The TAV concept impressed SOCOM with scores that exceeded the objectives of the major technical requirements, Ivankovic claimed, but the aircraft was dropped because the program office required an aircraft to test-fly by November 2020. SOCOM has since pushed flying demonstrations to 2021 and Icarus Aerospace is hoping to reengage as the program further defines requirements.

I've said before the world is overdue for a new OV 10 Bronco: this COULD be it, guys!

Thank you so much everybody. I’m indebted to Bro Ekele and bro Olagbende, and everyone on this platform. Before Sunday I had been having dreams where I saw myself fighting and evading enemies like real-time war, day in day out, like nightmares, so when my jet got shot with the explosives and my flight controls were destroyed and I had no choice than to eject, I just said ‘God, finally, here we go’… As I was flanked by the bandits, I kept praying and I kept telling God to answer your prayers because I know you were all praying for me. I love you all. And I thank God for bestowing his love on me and saving me from death several times within that period... I will still share my testimonies but truly, God ordered my steps, the bandits (meanwhile they are ruthless like Boko haram, I dunno why we still call them bandits) were more interested in capturing me than shooting me at (even at point blank range), eventually they got neither… He gave me the strength to run and walk covering almost 30kms even with one strained leg. Having not had any food or water all day, I prayed for strength because I needed it, and he gave me. I can spend hours talking of how I lost and regained hope multiple times throughout my adventure, but God is faithful. It’s now I’m feeling all the pains I suffered from the ejection (including a fracture in my neck and painful back and chest), but God didn’t allow those pains to slow me down for the bandits to capture me. NAF platforms overhead also helped me to deter them a lot by making some of them to pin down while I kept running, and when they got close to me, I was still able to evade them by camouflaging (I was wearing green fg suits - in the green forest) and concealing myself. I ran into plenty spiders and I laid down several times out of weakness not knowing if anything poisonous would sting or bite me. All glory is to God, all glory. I have not been your most righteous brother, but I felt God’s hands in everything, even in every decisions I took immediately I was shot, all the decisions worked together to save my life. Eg, removing my phone from my lap and putting it in my G -suit before pulling the ejection handle (I had to use the compass of the phone and AirNav Pro application to navigate), and making the decision to turn hard 90 degrees immediately the bandits lost sight of me on a sandy cliff where they couldn’t trace my footpath again (the CAS told me they got information that in turn, the bandits kept going straight in the direction I was initially going and they destroyed several villages and camps, killing plenty people, thinking those people harbored me). So much more… The village I eventually entered at night, I told God that the first person I see and call should favour me and that happened, he gave me clothes, pain-relieving drugs, food and water and even malt, and he organized for a bike to carry me to DanSadau early next morning (throughout the night I couldn’t sleep, I was praying that the bandits don’t attack the village because my right leg was already swollen and very painful so I couldn’t jump fences or run again, plus I didn’t want to bring death upon innocent people, and it may force the guy to give me out to the bandits…), they dropped me with their Emir who with pride and joy called the Army guys to come and meet me (they all had sleepless nights). NAF helicopters came to pick me up from there. There are so much to say. All thanks to God, thank you so much ❤️

Similar story also with Behind enemy lines.
For his injuries I think they're minor within a month or two he'll be fully back to duties. That back sprain is as a result of the ejection, the alpha jets MK 10 ejection seat is notorious for that he'll be back.

You don't judge a military with a battle, they have bigger headaches with the Egyptians and Sudanese over the Nile brouhaha. That bandits are holding sway in the northwest does that imply that our military is useless? You see my brother your analogy is faulty.

ISWAP "controls" NO significant territory or hold any sufficient sway in the North East. There limited to scavenging around Sambisa and Chad. The Tigray rebels literally control the Tigrey state/region in Ethiopia leaving hundreds of Ethiopian soldiers dead and taking thousands hostage all within a couple months. The Ethiopian President had to BEG the separatists for a ceasefire!

angry Not this tired old story again. The Ethiopians defeated the Italians because the Italians at the time where the biggest jokes in Western Europe. The weakest of the Colonial Empires. Most African civilizations at the time could have defeated the Italians. The rest of Europe left Ethiopia alone because is wasn't part of the colonial agreements in Europe and the fact Ethiopia was the Sole Christian nation in Africa. If it where the British or French that attacked Ethiopia it would have been game over for Ethiopia.

The Italians came back in WW2 and washed Ethiopia sending the Selassie fleeing to England.

Below are captured Ethiopians soldiers rotting away awaiting that glorious Ethiopian Air support and rescue.

People want to joke about Nigeria, Mali, and Congo breaking but Ethiopia's about to show them up shattering like a vase.

So it wasn't a collective effort that made those pilot for the alpha jet and helicopter pilot get winged.
Have you ever tried to know why the flying school is functioning that way?

Bandit's no dey hype much, na. Boko Haram dey do those ones..

In actual fact, they brag more than ISWAP/JAS, they just don't have the network to broadcast their propaganda to more people.
The leader of the bandit group that brought down one of the aircrafts that has been destroying them for a long time won't let the opportunity slide!

when my jet got shot with the explosives and my flight controls were destroyed Wetin Bandits use?

NAF platforms overhead also helped me to deter them a lot by making some of them to pin down while I kept running,
all the decisions worked together to save my life.

So much more… The village I eventually entered at night, I told God that the first person I see and call should favour me and that happened, he gave me clothes, pain-relieving drugs, food and water and even malt, and he organized for a bike to carry me to DanSadau

NAF did little, they haven't learnt how to safely locate and extract pilots, imagine using his own phone?! cry

I pity the people in the location he mentioned, the NA won't save them now and the poor Emir... undecided

This isn't a fair analysis if they hadn't made overhead passes he would have been captured, that's by the way Pilot extraction in a hot zone that is densely forested isn't easy at all Putting into cognizance the fragile nature of helicopters even a corn shrub can damage the rotor of a helicopter if care isn't taken, you can't even insert troops in the middle of nowhere just like that as that could be also disastrous. Kudos should be given to both the Pilot and the first responders abeg, no be everything we go dey pick fault, even the US surferred a devastating ambush when a Chinook was brought down with soldiers inside in Afghanistan in similar operation to extract one of the special forces agent in 2005. na too much Hollywood dey make us feel say some of these operations are piece of cake.
