Hi everyone,
This thread is based solely on mythical creatures believed to have existed at a particular point in time, we must've heard about some of them and some we might not have come across.....some might be real and some might not be.
All creatures you'll find on this list (real or not) have found a way to evade the human radar/sight so we tag them as 'MYTHS' (even though they may exist).
All the same it's all for fun and enlightenment (I've come across people who mistake a UNICORN for a PEGASUS if you happen to be a fairytale lover like me wink you'll feel a lil bit awkward thus the need to shed more light/knowledge.
NOTE: Pls do not feel offended to find a creature you believe to be real on the list,as they may be real but they're generally tagged as MYTHS....

1. The TIYANAK
The Tiyanak is a vampiric creature in Philippine mythology that takes on the form of a toddler or baby. Although there are various types, it typically takes the form of a newborn baby and cries in the jungle to attract unwary travelers. Once it is picked up by an unfortunate passerby, it reverts to its true form and attacks the victim. The tiyanak is also depicted to take malevolent delight in leading travelers astray or in abducting children.
The TIYANAK is most likely what we refer to as the mysterious mat-wielding "BUSH BABY" down here in Nigeria.

2. PEGASUS
The Pegasus is a mythical winged divine horse, and one of the most recognized creatures in Greek mythology. Usually depicted as pure white, The first known Pegasus is the offspring of the Olympian god Poseidon. He was given birth to by the Gorgon Medusa upon her death, when the hero Perseus decapitated her. Pegasus is the brother of Chrysaor and the uncle of Geryon.
There was also another account of the pegasus aiding bellophron in battle..

Ever since then the name has been adopted as breed name for every specie of winged horses

3. UNICORN

A unicorn is usually depicted as a horse with a single long horn, cloven hooves and sometimes a beard.it was commonly described as an extremely wild woodland creature, a symbol of purity and grace, which could be captured only by a virgin/ someone who is pure of heart.its horn was said to have the power to render poisoned water potable and to heal sickness.

Despite being a creature of fantasy, the roots/origins of the unicorn were not based on mythology but rather natural accounts of this creature,it is believed to have actually existed a very long time ago somewhere in india and at that time were referred to as indian wild asses as they moved in herds...

4.MERMAID

In folklore, a mermaid is an aquatic creature with the head and upper body of a female human and the tail of a fish. They are generally different from their male counterparts "Mermen" and also their adapted cousins "Sirens".In various culture they're sometimes known as Guardians of a particular body of water, in some they're symbols of fertility and riches. Some are known to be benovelent while some are known to be malevolent but one thing that baffles or amaze me is that Mermaids appear in the folklore of almost all/every cultures in the world as far back to the times when there was even no communication amongst the various continents,so how come did a creature that doesn't exist find it's way around all cultures of the world (sth just doesn't add up undecided perhaps this creatures are real) I could still remember one of the many life encounters, one that happened here in my homeland "Julius berger and the mermaid" while they were constructing a bridge over a body of water (over the years though every claim of sightings have been debunked as unreal and untrue, well for whatever reason it is being concealed I guess something's are better kept a secret)
In most folklores, sharks are known to be their greatest enemies. Also there have been accounts of a mermaid's tears turning into shiny gold pearls

5. SIRENS

SIRENS unlike their adapted cousins have been known to take on several forms but always they possess a melodious song which they used to lure unsuspecting sailors to their deaths.
Sirens were believed to look like a combination of women and birds in various different forms. In early Greek, they were depicted as birds with large women's heads, bird feathers and scaly feet. Later, they were represented as female figures with the legs of birds, with or without wings, playing a variety of musical instruments, especially harps and lyres. And later on were depicted as half human-like and half fish, but in which ever form they took, they've been known to be vicious and almost all encounter with men resulted in the deaths of such men.

7.DRAGONS

A dragon is a large, serpentine, legendary creature that appears in the folklore of many cultures worldwide. Beliefs about dragons vary considerably through regions, but dragons in western cultures since the High Middle Ages have often been depicted as winged, horned, four-legged, and capable of breathing fire.

Every culture has its own representation of the dragon,in Greek mythology they appear as beasts with four legs, pair of wings and in asian myths they appear as large serpents with legs (two or four) with wings only full maturity.
Owing to this there are a diverse types of dragons and I'll love to mention a few next on this thread (sit tight)

8. Wyverns

A wyvern is a legendary bipedal winged dragon usually depicted with a tail ending in a diamond- or arrow-shaped tip.
Basically there is little difference between other basic dragons types/species and wyverns, being two-legged magical reptilian they’re a smaller class of dragons. Wyverns, when present as creatures distinct from dragons, they tend to appear as less magical and more as dangerous beasts: smaller, weaker, and less intelligent than dragons. While a fantasy dragon often has a breath weapon, such as fire, wyverns rarely have such abilities and are more feared for their ferocity and sharp teeth and claws. Wyverns are sometimes associated with poison, either in the form of venomous fangs or tail barb, or poisonous breath

9.AFRICAN DRAGON
African dragons are one of the types of dragons that are not as well known as the European dragon or the Oriental dragon. In fact, most of these dragons are not even recognized or thought of like dragons. Most African dragons are more like large serpents or giant snakes, sometimes possessing only two legs if any at all. These serpent-like dragons were seen several times throughout African culture, including folklore, religion, mythology, and tribal stories. These dragon's stories were found in tribes, cities, and towns all over Africa including Egypt.

10. DRAGONNETS (this will be the last dragon I’ll post for now let’s move onto sth else, maybe later on I’ll talk on the rest )

The Dragonnet is a small dragon, like Terrible Terrors. That doesn't mean they're any less vicious on the battlefield but they are quite rare.
The Dragonnet looks just like the Western dragon. It has the same scales, claws, and horns. It can fly and breathe fire. The only real difference between the two species, in fact, is size. Western dragons may be huge, but all dragonnets are human-sized or smaller. Some dragonnets are no larger than a person's finger! The dragonnet's small size is deceptive. Although these creatures are tiny, they are very dangerous to humans. For one thing, dragonnets live and hunt in packs. A group of dragonnets can easily bring down a human victim. For another thing dragonnets have poisonous blood. A person who slays a dragonnet will die if the creature's toxic blood touches his or her skin. Luckily for humans everywhere, most dragonnets stay away from settled areas. They live on high, cold mountaintops, where they survive by eating the babies of larger dragons. Sometimes they sneak into a dragon's nest after killing one of its offspring. They act like babies to get free food and protection from the unsepecting parent.

11. KITSUNE

Kitsune are intelligent foxes that possess paranormal abilities that increase as they get older and wiser. According to yōkai folklore, all foxes have the ability to shapeshift into human form. While some folktales speak of kitsune employing this ability to trick others – as foxes in folklore often do – other stories portray them as faithful guardians, friends, and lovers. The more tails a kitsune has – they may have as many as nine – the older, wiser, and more powerful it is. Because of their potential power and influence, some people make sacrifices to them as to a deity. One very popular type is the legendary NINE TAILED FOX

12. WEREWOLF

Also known as (LYCANTHROPE which translates as “wolf-human”) is a human with the ability to shapeshift into a wolf (or, especially in modern film, a therianthropic hybrid wolflike creature), either purposely or after being placed under a curse or affliction (often a bite or scratch from another werewolf) with the transformations occurring on the night of a full moon. Early sources for belief in this ability or affliction, called lycanthropy.Which links is back to the origin of the first werewolf, the story of King Lycaon of Arcadia, who was transformed into a wolf because he had sacrificed a child in the altar of Zeus. when Zeus visits Lycaon disguised as a common man, Lycaon wants to test if he is really a god. To that end, he kills a Molossian hostage and serve his entrails to Zeus. Disgusted, the god turns Lycaon into a wolf. As time went by Werewolves became associated with witchcraft often tagged as a men cursed by a powerful witch.
They’re known to be at their strongest when fully transformed on Full moons.Although there are modern versions of the werewolf’s that live in packs and can access their abilities whenever and wherever depending on their rank/experience.
One of their many abilities include quick regeneration, superhuman speed and strength, increased sense of smell/perception and so many more.

Personally,my own favorite version of werewolves are those in “TWILIGHT “ and “TEEN WOLF”

13. MINOTAUR

The Minotaur is a mythical creature appearing in Myths having the head and tail of a bull and the body of a man or either as a part human part bull creature living at center of the Labyrinth, which was an elaborate maze-like construction designed by the architect Daedalus and his son Icarus, on the command of King Minos of Crete. There have been a couple versions of the Minotaurs story but one thing they do have in common is that it lived in a labyrinth where he was offered human sacrifices of youthful boys and virgin girls.According to the famous Greek myth the Minotaur was eventually killed by the Hero Theseus (who later founded ATHENS).

15. MANTICORE

The Manticore (also known as Manticora) is a legendary creature from Persia similar to the Egyptian sphinx that proliferated in western European medieval myths and stories. It has the head of a human, the body of a lion and a tail of venomous spines similar to porcupine quills, while other depictions have it with the tail of a scorpion. There are some accounts that the spines can be shot like arrows, thus making the manticore a lethal predator. It devours its prey whole, using its triple rows of teeth, leaving no traces of its victims (including bones) behind. The manticore originated from Persia but somehow found its way into the European culture.
