HobbiDr:
Okay, good morning to all the oga's and madam's in the house may God grant all of you your hearts desire as you contribute meaningfully to humanity.

I'm actually new here and I've read virtually from page No.1 to this present page and i must say I've learnt a lot plus a renewed mindset. Thanks to everyone.

So here's my status which I'll need valuable advice from you all.

1. I've a B.Eng about 8yrs now, industrial experience with Airtel and Huawei telecommunications as a site engineer and a few orthers, lost the job about 4yrs now.

2. Went in farming afterwards, as 1+1 wasn't turning out to be 2 with the farm so I had to relocated back to Lagos 2019 and have been driving with Uber/Bolt since then.

3. I have 3 direct dependences, a boy (2years) and a girl (10 months) with my fiance hoping/working to formalize the marriage mid next yr. Spouse is also a graduate and both of us graduated from same school, same year from one of the federal universities in the SSR.

4. I have an elder brother(same parents) who lives and works in the UK with 2kids and a wife all of them with a British passport for over 10yrs now. He has a house of his own and his wife works as well.

5. I've never had an Int'L before.
This is where I find contradicting. My brother bears different Surname (our dad's) but I bear our clan Surname name

e.g: his name is Michiel VICTOR
My Birth cert is having: Glory Hillary VICTOR
University certificate: Glory Hillary VICTOR
So I later changed to: Glory Hillary IKOSI
NB: Capitalized names are surnames and these are just examples but not our real names.

I did a court and a news paper certification to effect this change of names and the Surname name on my educational credentials is bearing same name with that of my brother in the UK but my NIM, BVN and bank details are having grand fathers name same as what I've on my birth certificate. Confusing right(pls don't mind me, I lost my dad at a very tender age... So part of the reason for lack of proper guildiance)

Now. I wish to migrate (japa) grin alone first to the western world while my wife(to be) and the kids join me later.

1) Which among these countries do you advice I migrate to considering my profile as stated above?
Australia, Canada, US or Uk

2) I plan on going for my Int'L passport soon, which name do I use for the Int'L.
Even my Drivers licence is bearing both surnames which is my two name both english, my dad's name (English) and the clan's name(native). (A big mess I suppose)

3. Do I have any leverage if i chose to migrate to the UK since I've a brother who is a citizen over there with a good job (programmer) and a house of his own. If NO, which other country would you advise?

Pls your intellectual advice is needed here as i want to do things the right way and getting it right at every first trial.

Thanks in anticipation.

It’s not exactly a mess.If you present a newspaper change of name and court affidavit that should sort out any confusions when you apply.
What you choose to bear is entirely your business.

Going to the UK. To migrate, consider tier 2 visa.
Tht is one of the few legal and popular means to migrate to the UK.
There is also going as tier 4 master’s student, you study while your wife works full time or she does the studying while you work full time.
After one year of study and good grades, you can apply for a post study visa which will allow you a further 2 years to find a job.
In terms of admission it is not hard, find a school in the uk and apply. When u are givin the admission then u apply for a visa. For more infor check the student thread.
There is also tier 1 etc. pls research.
If you say you want to go visit your brother, like to go visit and come back after like 2 weeks... in terms of legal ways it will be a visit visa. Standard visitor visa is what it is called.
On a visiting visa you can not work or earn a living and it’s usual duration for staying in is 6 months. Anythin other than tht u will be illegal.

To even get this Uk visit visa and stamp you will need to apply and convince the visa officer that you are only goin visitin and will return. If you read this thread as you said, you will see the only way to convince them is for them to adequately see your ties to Nigeria and believe tht you will come back. ... in essence this japa story no work here
So just know the one you want.

I can not speak about the other countries and what they entail, in terms of migration- however there are variant threads for each one.

As for your intl passport, I beg you in this Nigeria. Use the name exactly as it is on your NIN and bear in mind that nigerian wahala of name change on intl passport is stressful and you will be very exploited. So whatever name you decide to use on your intl passport, I beg you please let it be your final option.
If the name on your NIN is not what you want, and you intend to apply for intl passport in Lagos, Abuja or Ph then you must do data modification on your NIN first and correct d names to what you want. It cosets about 600 naira.

These 3 centres, to obtain an intl passprt it is compulsory you have a NIN card and all details on NIN must be same with what you want on the International ppt else it wont work.

As per your brother being in the UK, to the best of my knowledge I dnt think you have a leverage for migration to the UK as you are not solely dependent- financially and otherwise on your brother with the situation you have described. You are an adult.

In a nutshell your easiest routes will be to apply for jobs from Nigeria and pray you get an employment and sponsor to the UK on a skilled worker visa
Or your or your wife apply as an MSc student, get funds and come over. The non student will work fill time to assist the household and complete your school fees and also pay bills.

I think you will need to first separate your business funds from your personal acct. the visa officers are not smiling. They will let you know ‘how you hve various unexplained large deposits’ even if you submit receipts.
It is best to open a company acct and channel all funds there. With what i have seen work for majority of business owners on this thread, they choose to get monthly payments from the company acct to a certain amount as their salary. Then use the personal acct with no unexplained large deposits to aplly for the visa.
I am very sure if you check this thread you will see several ppl. Pls research here. I cnt do all the explanation.
Armed with this, you can cement your case with showing your other ties like marriage, kids, investments, property, lands, savings and everything else you will use to convince them that you will return after your short visit.

Hello House,

Please help clarify. I was telling someone that despite the fact that you have been fully vaccinated in Nigeria with AstraZeneca (UK Vaccine) you are still not exempt from quarantine. You are still expected to follow the rules so far you were not vaccinated in the UK, Europe (Some countries) and the US. that is 10 days quarantine with day 2 and 8 mandatory tests and not just day 2.

Please anyone who has tried going with Nigeria Vaccination card please let us know o.

thanks

Only full vaccinations administered in the UK, EU and USA or recognized UK vaccines overseas of which I did not see Nigeria on the list—- are recognized by the UK govt to exempt one from quarantine. Those who are not exempt and coming from amber countries need day 2 and day 8 tests .

Book your day 2 and day 8 test kits with Dante labs. As at now both tests cost 84 pounds. Cheapest I have seen for day 2 and day 8 yet.
For the rest of the providers check www.gov.uk

Congratulations! Awwesome. A quick question please... When did you receive a mail that your passport is available for collection? And do you know why it took that long for priority service that ought to be 5 working days? Like it literally took the usual 21 days from the timeline you stated. Thanks and congrats once more.

Hi bro I sent you an email. Kindly respond I have some questions about MSC IN UK for my wife while I work. We are family of 5 and I want to move everybody at once. Again I would like to know Universities in UK that do not require proof of English test for admission from Nigerians. I had my MSc outside Nigeria. But I need my wife to study while I work. I may consider PhD later on. Kids are 15yrs, 1yr and 1month plus my wife and I.

Check that thread. Read page 1 of the thread.. massive information is there before going on to ask questions. More than 90 percent of your queries have been answered there.
As for msc, what I have seen on that thread majority of schools accept WAEC/NECO or letter from your university stating the primary medium of teaching was english language in the stead of ielts. You dnt need to write any further english test for majority.

I don’t know why it took that long sincerely. And when I got to the British Council yesterday, it was obvious the passport has just been with them but they didn’t act on it. I got the mail today and picked up today even though I had paid for courier delivery. I couldn’t wait for Monday cos I needed the Passport. If I hadn’t gone there, they wouldn’t have sent the passport to TLS today.

@HobbiDr please high your morale. How will you switch to nursing without doing a little work perhaps in schl? Well it brings you back to school- apply for MSc in nursing. I think it is pre registration nursing or so, thats the shortest route. Otherwise check the nursing in uk thread, you will understand there is possibly no short cut

Good day gurus. I am back to for your counsels again. I and family have applied thrice for visitor's visa and denied all the three times.
Planning to apply again by December cos economic circumstances have changed.
I am a civil servant, earns 400k plus but after deductions, I get 230k per month(I spend less than 100k monthly) Also I get payments from agric investment on a monthly basis(150k), and bimonthly (450k). I get rent from my properties(though yet to get the c of o) too. Wifey is a civil servant too with a salary above 160k monthly after all deductions. Do you think we are good to go now?
N.B we belong to a travel club who take care of our accomodation.
Thanks as I await your counsels. Stay blessed

Hello everyone,

I’ve had a bad experience with Dante labs. Night test kits last week and got them delivered early this week. Did the tests on Thursday and sent results via Royal Mail priority box same day(before 9am). My results came in yesterday but my wife’s after we missed our flight today(as she was yet to get her results). Those guys are terrible and avoid them when planning test to fly.

Does anyone have a reliable and cost effective test provider for fit to fly(out of the UK back to Naija) and for which results can be obtained same day.
