Hi everyone,
it's been a while.
I received an email this morning from the consulate asking for my travel insurance and travel date.
I had my interview on Friday, and honestly, it was an awful experience. The lady that interviewed me believed that only people who don't have a degree apply for skilled immigrant visa and started by accusing me of applying in the wrong category so I can get an appointment date on time and went on to say all of things that I just chose to ignore. I tried to enlighten her about the different categories of people it covers and the threshold to qualify for blue card because she was just ranting with heavy accusations that I felt insulted. She later came back to tell me she was sorry and I was right in my application. She was obviously not familiar with the skilled immigration act and didn't even know what the vorabzustimmung was. I had to explain to her how I got it and what is involved.
I left there not as optimistic as I had been all along but I was elated to hear from them this morning.
Has anyone used feather insurance? That's what my company recommended for me to use. Also, the email said the insurance should cover 90 days, the feather insurance subscription I see monthly payments, not 90 days at once. is that usable?
Thanks in advance

For those applying for family reunion and your spouse has the statutory health insurance in Germany, you can already ask him/her to add you [and your child(ren)] as "non-contributory dependant(s)" on his/her insurance at no extra cost. With this, when the embassy requests for your passport(s) and travel insurance(s), you do not need to spend any money getting travel insurance(s) from maybe AXA Mansard. All that is needed is to ask your spouse to call the insurance provider to issue a certificate/letter that you are insured. This should then be submitted alongside your passport(s).

Though the travel insurance in Nigeria might not cost much but I just thought I should share. It's not bad saving that money and adding it to your plane ticket money grin

Hello y'all,

This might not belong here but there is no harm in asking.

Is anyone here in need of EURO in exchange for Naira? I have EURO for sale. Thanks .

that should be fine, I was advised to use https://www.mawista.com/en/health-insurance-for-foreign-nationals-in-germany/stays-up-to-5-years/
it is also setup the same way, that is the best option, so once you are settled and have health insurance, you can cancel it.

Hello Everyone, please has anyone who registered in October 2020 received appointment date? I registered on the 5th

Good morning everyone, I have gone through the threads from page 1 to page 73, and to be honest, I gained quite insightful knowledge.

I have received a job offer from a company and during my research, I noticed that the "skilled worker visa" is what am qualified for. Having further researched into the BLUE CARD, I noticed it is for those that graduated from a University (Degrees). In my own case, I am an HND and PGD holder with professional certification from an Approved Training Organization outside Nigerian which covers the whole of Europe and the UK.

I will like to enquire if there will be a need for any foreign education equivalency? This is actually the point where am getting it all confusing.

Thank you as I await kind response and guidiance.

Hello Everyone, I need some questions answered.
So I got a job. And I am going to apply for a Blue card. The initial plan was that the company would get approval so I can apply under the "Skilled Immigration Act" for fast-tracking it. But I was able to get an appointment for the beginning of September for the Blue Card Category.
My question is this, would it be ok for me to follow the normal processing since I got a date that is 3 weeks away. Is there any unnatural delay to be expected (I mean would it take longer than normal because of the pandemic, or my processing time won't be affected), how long is the processing time for Blue Card.
Thanks.
Ps. I have read from November 2020 till date. no similar case exists. the work visa guys (about 3-5 found) all applied under the "Skilled Immigration Act".

Good afternoon everyone.
Thanks to all those who have shared their experiences and information…they’ve been really helpful.
My husband just got a job in Germany and we’re about to begin the visa process.
Though he doesn't have a degree, we did some research and found he was qualifies for blue card because of the salary for the job- it’s in excess of the stated minimum amount (please correct me if I’m wrong).
The company has agreed to provide the fast track documents and all but he wants to apply with me i.e. apply for family/reunion visa with me (it’s just both of us for now, no kids yet )
I have gone through the thread but didnt see anyone with a similar case. Though i saw couples do this from India even some with kids (saw the stories on youtube).
I just don't want to be the reason for any delay in his visa process and he’s not open to going first and me joining him later due to financial constraints and health matters.
Please I’d appreciate any information or insight from the house on how to proceed.
Thank you.

Congratulations on the new job!
I quite agree with you about there not being similar cases…I totally get how you feel.

But maybe you should consider discussing with the company on the timeline to get the vorabzustimmung possibly before your interview date as you already have one…to avoid any delay to the visa approval instead of having to find out.
I read in the thread about some who shared that he got the pre-approval within 2weeks.
So it’s something to consider.
Also keep in mind that they may need to courier the documents to you and factor that into your timeline.
Wish you all the best!

Thanks for your response. But it's sad they can't reschedule after a long wait of even over a year. The dilemma now is that passport is expired also in dis month. Can I still book with that while i go about doing the renewal?

Both of you cannot go at the same time because of the compulsory document verification for you. If the pre approval document and travelling processing is being handled by an agency or your husband's employer and the fast track document includes pre-approval for family re-union, they can write the embassy and help you get a family reunion appointment faster as a priority (Like a month's wait time compared to the current one year waiting period for family reunion appointments.).
However you will still need to wait probably up to six months or less before you can join him.

Very unfair, embassy is fraustrating us and now Goethe is adding to it, how can Goethe institute say fully booked in just 3 mins? I don't trust Goethe anymore

Good morning Everyone

Please, I have a question and I would like if people can share their thoughts regarding our situation.
I had a child a year before I left the country for my study in Germany, but I applied as single no kid due to some controversies btw us.
A year after I got to Germany, I visited Nigeria again and we made up and resolves all issues and misunderstandings.
We are now married and i now work as a high skilled IT Specialist in Germany.
Do you think my initial visa application (as single no kid) will affect my child's application?
This is a mistake from me and i hope it won't have any effect.

NB: We have all the required documents on the family reunion checklist.

Thank you all in anticipation.

As you are already aware, family reunion visas ideally goes through a verification process. I believe as long as you have the necessary documents to prove the child is yours, there shouldn't be any problem

How long in average does it take, for the lawyer to commence verifications after the interview
