My PPA was State college ikot ekpene. Really enjoyed my stay. The school have us accommodation and we stayed alone in our rooms. I was happy to have taught Mathematics, further Mathematics and physics at so some point with passion.

I really loved how I impacted the students and also the advice I gave to some of them that were about giving hopes of going to the University because of fund. I was really the students favorite then.

2 years on, my students still call and chat me on Facebook. I miss the raffia city

It's actually a nice place, it's my state and I stay in Ikot Ekpene but shuttle Uyo everyday...

I couldn't wait to leave.
My uncle working in Govt house in the then Akpabio Administration wanted to "work" my redeployment.
I just tell am make e chill. But I had a very great advantage...I understand and speak Yoruba. Na that one save me bcus almost 75% of my students no fit speak English(no jokes). I was almost tempted to teach in Yoruba.
Had to lie to the principal that I have a little baby back at home. He wanted me to stay in the staff quarters, say wetin happen?(me that was always skiping classes with lies of how I was asked to report at NYSC office. So that he will trace me back to the lodge?) I kept running from Ilorin to warri every 2weeks. I no even mind d T-fare(9kk to and fro) Though the village was a very peaceful one but I no fit just stay like that.
Abeg the experience just too plenty...
lol Ghost corper. Unlike you I stayed all through, I only travelled twice (xmas and leave) when It deemed necessary even tho I was living inside the remotest of villages in south south Edo state. You need to see the way I look after inflicted by sandflies. I was a shadow of my self. But after a while I got used to it.

Mee too. In the first six weeks, I turned a movie watcher just to kill boredom. My co Corp members brought all his DVDs from his base as if he knew there was going to be CD player in his room. Good morning

Service year was fun for me. I was posted to Bayelsa State (2005 Batch A). As at then, I was running my degree in Ife and was in 300level so I had to shuttle both. I was more present in Bayelsa than I was in Ife.

I was posted to Uncle Sammy Nursery, Primary, and Secondary School, Twon Brass. I taught Agricultural amd Integrated Science at the Junior Secondary School. I later asked to teach Primary 6 students as I felt I could create more impact then.

I still relate with many of them and I am glad many went to higher institutions after their secondary school. I was added to their what's app group at some time but had to exit myself as they were young and would discuss things I wasn't comfortable with.

Brass was a nice place and Agip was nice to us until some corners messed up things. Again provided free boat rides (about 3 to and 3 fro) daily for the community residents and corners were granted automatic rides provided you dropped your name the previous day. They stopped it when it was abused by some ladies in the batch before us. One of them were traveling and three of them escorted her to Yenegoa and when the Agip officials heard they were pissed.

Besides the ride, they also gave us free food at the military canteen. There was a staff bus we rode with to Agip in the afternoon and night for lunch and dinner and I am not sure what one of us did that made them stop the free food.

Most corners who served with the Local Government had nothing to do so most of them did private placement at Common Wealth School.

On our send forth day, I cried. I was so attached to the stude to and community. I wish I could visit when I'm around.

My PPA paid N4k and the state paid N1k monthly. Goodluck Jonathan became governor during our time following Alamesigha's arrest. At our passing out, GEJ gave us N18k for those who served on land and N30k for those of us who served across the waters.

During my service year, I was initially posted to a distant community with less touch of civilization. I was fortunate that have someone who helped in my redeployment....

Had mine at Apaaka High school Vandekiya Benue state.
My very first day at the school I was sad.
I actually cried cos it was a village school without basic amenities. Luckily the principal was around. He told me if i dont want to work in his school there's no problem but that the school really needs me. He said I would enjoy it. Well I wiped my tears and return to Lagos to prepare myself for the worse.

But the experience was life changing. I taught the students mathematics and physics.. The level of poverty was unimaginable. There was no electricity in the community and water was from well, but clean.
The students don't attend school on market days which is every seven days cos they take their wares to the market. Market day was fun day. They drink without caution and prostitutes alot too.
They are however very hospitable. I drank fresh Palm wine and ate alot of fresh fruits. Food was relatively cheap, infact the student always give the teachers food stuffs from their farms.
I fell in love with some of my students such that I had to assist with their school fees and organised extra classes for them for free cos they were super intelligent.

When I had to leave they cried and so did I.. They keep me updated about their success.

The bolded is really emotional.

When I say DSS I mean director of social service , but then again your myopic mind can't think far , except for irrelevant things. Because I simply can't relate with what I said and what you posted.
P.S : don't bother to mention me again, cos I won't give you the joy of having to quote you.
