This means lower viral load even if mask wearing does not offer full protection. The lower the viral load you receive, the more time your body's defence system has to defend against the virus. That's for the lower grade of mask. It is illuminating that deaths amongst healthcare professionals at the start of the pandemic was higher than the general population and that was due to the higher viral loads they were exposed to.
