Brino need to emulate him, but Scholes is far superior on the ball. Bruno losses the ball a lot even in dangerous positions

I am not sure if Bruno has the vision/passing range and natural instincts to dictate play - qualities that heralded scholes, hence his seamless transition from AM to CM.

For me, i'd rather that Pogba does that CM job - he actually excelled at it during some phases last season.

I think this issue of Pogba needing an Ndidi or Kante to perform, is being blown outta proportion to an extent. Even when he fails to pick an important pass, clearly due to excessive showboating, people rush here to tell us "hey, it is because he doesnt have a solid DM".

Pogba's inconsistencies are largely due to attitudinal issues.

If he puts the club before personal glory, i think we would be fine

Clap For yourself, which recent Champions league club use just a single DM without good CM. Bruno and Pogba are more of forward players.
Madrid won with midfield trio of Kroos, Casemiro and Modric who all contribute defensively same with chelshit, even Bayern had hard working Leon Goretzka, Thiago and Muller.

Reason people are saying that Bruno would need to withdraw to the midfield. He is hardworking, if we have Bruno, Pogba and McTom in a 4-3-3 formation. Won’t be bad at all. Just means Bruno needs to be patient on the ball and be prepared to do more short passes for ball retention purposes.

I think thats a bigger risk than moving Pogba into the double pivot. I think

CR
Sancho Bruno. Greenwood
Pogba McTom.

Is our best option for most games for now.

I would not go 433 with the current squad as we don't have the personnel.
I would not like to risk Bruno's carelessness in possession in the middle of the park as I think you'll remove all his strengths as Portugal seem to be finding out.

Are you suggesting that Bruno is more careless than Fred and/or Pogba? He can adjust his game. He needs to do take calculated risks more vs just trial and error erratic passes. Interesting thing is we can have Pogba and Bruno switch RCM and LCM roles easily when we play weaker teams.

We must win a major trophy this season.

Folks here have been disappointed for many seasons. We know he can offer more but he rarely seem to push himself hard enough. He is too inconsistent to have set any height we have come to expect, but it's always disappointing to see his season end poorly because we know (or think) he can offer much more
2 seasons back, he had a very good season and many expected him to kick off from there but he had a stinker of a season last time hence the disappointment. You actually agree with the point I made so, I really don't understand why you asked the question in the first place...

Ronaldo will not accept McFred, he has started demanding for the EPL title. Ole will be forced to bench Fred, Ronaldo will not tolerate any nonsense from Ole

But the in lies the problem. If he uses only Mctom, we all know he is not that DM we can solely rely on, he is good but not there yet.

It then means one of Bruno or Pogba will have to pair with him and that in itself for me will limit those players.

Ronaldo demanding for anything can't change anything if we don't get the quality DM we need.

Let's see how it goes sha.

Be like say their carelessness dey on the same level o. Just that Freds own is usually more dangerous every time because of the position he plays.

Currently losing a bet placed on who'd score more and generally have more of an impact, between Sancho and Vinicius Akpororo... I'm currently losing, but shey hope dey or make I pull out cry

Please this is not an agenda.
Sancho starts seasons slowly and gradually gets into his strides, and I think this is what is happening now. But the issue is, will united be patient enough to allow him to settle, considering our attacking options? EPL defences are more organised than that of Bundesliga, as i pointed out before he might struggle in such situations. As for your bet Sancho should surely outperform him, but I doubt he will get the patience to do that?

He needs all the help possible to win titles because he is a limited manager but the lack of a DM should not serve as an excuse for his fan boys if we don't win those titles. After all the hole in the DM position has been magnified mainly because our manager appears incapable of finding a tactical solution.
simple selections can cover the DM. our win % with McFred is actually impressive. sadly, it takes out starting spot of one forward overflowing with talent, but it is what it is for now. I actually think Martial has made a mistake not seeking a move this summer.
I hope Ole doesn't act like Moyes who brought Fellaini and began using him in DM instead of SS because of what pressers say or playing "the United way". LvG/Jose came and used him properly, and the impact was clear.

4-2-3-1 is our starting default, so any of these combos should work.

or
- - - Donny - Matic - - -

Bro that's my fear, I know what Sancho is capable of and that's why I took that risk, my fear like you pointed out is if he can be given the time to do so. Akpororo leads by 3 goals now grin

A manager who knows his onions would even use it to his advantage...

Ji sung park (a big game player) couldnt even make the match day squad of the 2008 CL final. A talented Nani and an experienced Giggs also had to watch from the sidelines for considerable parts of the game.

Ole should just sort out his best 13-15 players Asap, get a working formation (that can be tweaked, depending on circumstances) and dang - we are good to go.

With Sir Alex in charge, we would win atleast 2 trophies this season!

I mentioned something similar to this which you contested the other day. The reality on ground is that we must play two CDM which takes out one attacking player. This is a must, whether against perceived strong teams or not if we're to have any consistency this season. Having superior attacking firepower won't do shit if we're to win something

I thought I explained my point. While we all hope to see Martial do well, he has not been consistent enough for us to set a realistic benchmark for him.
Let's take you for example, what height have you come to expect him to hit?

This is the limitation we are experiencing with our manager.

the only difference then and now is that a £250k weekly player riding the bench week in week out will be ridiculous.

this is with respect to our default formation.
Ole has used 4-3-2-1, 4-4-2 diamond, 4-3-3, 3-5-2 (3-4-3/3-4-1-2) and even 4-5-1 (with Lukaku) during his time at the club.
he seem to have settled on a 4-2-3-1 which is now default.
while rumors (true or not) have it that his preferred is 4-3-3, it's also good he appreciates the fact that he doesn't have the personnel for it.
that doesn't mean other formations wouldn't incorporate more attacking/creative options than McFred and still be balanced.
there'd be no need for McFred in a 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 diamond for example.

Ronaldo and Cavani aren't exactly youngsters any longer and may have to be managed properly for optimal form and fitness in the intense EPL.

Many games abound - FA cup, CL etc

I still think Martial has a role to play in the team - i havent written him off completely

Ole has to trust the squad and rotate more often. We should be able to win comfortably with Ronaldo (CF), Sancho (LW), Lingard (AM) and Greenwood (RW) or
Cavani (CF), Rashy (LW), Bruno (AM) and Lingard (RW).

Ole has to rotate them forwards alot this season.

I love Martial, but the earlier we sell him the better it will be for him and the club. He gives the vibe of a guy that will end up in Turkey in 2 or 3 years time.

Martial was unfortunate to play under Mourinho at such a crucial stage in his development as an attacker, coupled with the other off-the-pitch issues he had that period.

In hindsight, having to deal with divorce at age 20, amongst having the No9 issue with Mou, and the barrage of criticism coupled with a later bumper increase in wages have all likely contributed to what we see now. Trauma changes people, some positive, some negative.

There was a time seeing Martial warm up to come on to the pitch would generate a lot of celebration amongst ManUtd fans. He literally brought life to our attack as a 19yr old. That was what created Martial FC.

This is why Greenwood’s England scandal had to be managed well, because if not done well, such delicate situation could completely tmurn his career in another direction. Southgate mentioned he wasn’t called up during this international break so he can focus on his football development and not get thrown out in the open like before, despite his awesome performance last month.

Dele Alli also had similar issues with Mou, but he’s already 25, so I presume he handled it better than a 20yr old Ayinde would.

Olé has tried to ‘resurrect’ that 19yr old Martial we fell in love with after his debut goal against Liverpool, but it’s not just working. Even went ahead to give him back the No9 Jersey, still nothing. ‘On’ today, ‘Off’ tomorrow, too inconsistent. Our Thierry Henry is gone.

There’s not much anyone can do at this point, other than hope, because if Haaland arrives at United next season, that No9 jersey will be given to him, and Martial possibly sold if his performance doesn’t improve.

- Martial has always wanted to be a striker.
- Mourinho came in and saw him play and decided this guy can't be a striker.
-Then Martial started playing from the wings and we loved him. Even with the problem he later had with Jose because of his attitude.
- Ole came in and made him the striker straight up and gave him the number 9.
- Last year we realized Martial can't be a good striker.
- This year we realized Martial can't even take on players again. And now plays like he's wearing Timberland boots. His game has changes totally. He's also lost his speed.

Who's at fault?

Martial played well under Van Gaal.

His next best season (which is the best of his career) actually came under Olé.

If you think anyone’s at fault, the numbers are there to tell you who is.
