Leaving isn't easy and that's the problem. The humiliating shame of being abused is not something she wants shared. They feel many will feel its her fault for it to happen. The shame, crippling low self esteem brought about by the abuse and fear keeps them in bondage.

Imagine if you were beaten up and raped twice by a gay man within a week-what will you? You were ashamed wondering how you will handle the first rape and the he used that opportunity to beat you up and rape you again. What will you now do?
