Aside this, the peculiarity of our roads' users cannot be compare with that of London because in London street hawking is illegal, so the road is somewhat free from intruders.

There in abroad, their gates are mainly automated, a security guide is just there to file non residence or those who got issue with the auto pass.... in this case horn is not useful.... apart from that, u don't see people crossing road illegally as they all have standby provisions for pedestrians, car park and bus stations...Intact the white makes life less stress, thats y they live older n healthier than us

I realised car horns makes most Nigerians drive recklessly.
One day I went for a function ,my car horn was very Okay.. immediately after the function, I entered the car only to find out the horn is dead .

I thought of how to drive on the road with all the bike , Keke and other road users,I felt like parking the car,on a second thought, I zoom off.

I couldn't imagine that I drove this car without horn extra carefully back home...
I drove it again without horn for two days because my schedule was very tight to go see an electrician.

I never believed I could drive so carefully..

After the incident, I concluded that we abuse car horn in Nigeria.

Very correct!. In Europe, one can stay for 6 months without hearing the bleep of a vehicle's horn. The only horn/noise one will hear is siren from ambulances on medical evacuation.

If you have driven your car without horn for some days, you will attest to the fact that having that horn working somehow propels a level of confidence to do things you wouldn't do when without it. It means there are some 'shades of emergency' as you put it that we just need to be patient or more careful, rather than rushing and believing that honking horn while at it will ensure our safety. For instance, driving and approaching a Tee junction or +cross road, you'll realize an individual order than to approach it with caution and obeying traffic rules/procedures will approach at a high speed blaring horn from a distance warning everyone at the junction that he/she be given right of way irrespective of whether it ought to be his/hers!
Same applies to neighbours rushing to out and beckoning on their family members to hurry and join them in the car- they blare horn. Examples abound and it's what I believe Reno is trying to draw attention to - the abuse!

Reno doesn't make sense most of the times. He would have told us the meaning of emergency. To me, all the things he mentioned fall other emergencies.

If you go abroad especially USA don't horn at people oh, them fit come down punch you for face. It's seen as a form of road aggression or insult.

Actually what needs to happen is the driver in front needs to look in the mirror to make sure it's safe to overtake. the driver at the back would have ensured it was safe to overtake before doing it as well. No need to honk the horn

He is lying. Utter rubbish. The only difference is that we in Nigeria abuse the horn.

Although there r certain places in the Uk that have signs to not use your horn like hospices and hospitals and schools etc. As well as wanting to overtake in most cases tho there is no reason for that on the express since anyone moving slowly could enter the middle lane and leave the left lane for formula one drivers.

Wrong! The car horn is used for many things including calling attention to other road users for so many things. At least we watch films and same applies even in UK & USA for those that have not travelled.
