That was a response to Doc and he knows why I brought it up.

AWB is the least intelligent defender we have, he is positionally poor and in attack, he is nothing to write home about.

But you also said the below
patrickmuf:
Whoever plays on the right will not appreciate Wan-Bissaka that's our RB...Bury your Sancho agenda for now.
which I countered specifically using Greenwood .

I am not interested in the positionally whatever you have against AWB. I haven't said anything at all to counter that or agree with it. My opinion is that we have a bad system and trainers.

Gomez has torn his ACL, broken his leg, ruptured his achilles and his patella tendon. He turned 24 this year. It’s a genuine miracle he’s still playing football, and at such a high level.
Not only the physical effects, but the mental impact on 4 huge injuries must be huge. his mentality is incredible.

The mental strength required to get past them is fucking huge, i can’t even begin to imagine the toll it must’ve taken on him.

C'mon Big Joe...

Injuries are 1 of the major banes of football, but with the right team(medical, teammates, fan support) and the right mentality....Things can come good....
Dedicated to every player that has had a nasty injury career...

The truth is he has even done better than I expected. When I watched his Crystal Palace clips I was alarmed we were going for a sliding tackle expert, and for 50m, and I thought it would be even worse than this.

Kudos to him for his hard work and determination but we need an attacking RB not a slide tackler. The hope now is that Dalot or Laird can take over long term.

Football is not pure Mathematics. This is not the first time an underdog will be beaten a top team but the manner it was done is appaling. Why setup the team so defensive just because of a goal down. Major upset like this is not new, it doesn't mean the team can't go on to reach the later stage of champions league.
Some major upset in group stage that later went on to Perform strong in the competition. Bate Borisov 3 Bayern Munich 1 (Oct 2 2012)
Barcelona 1Rubin Kazan 2 (20 Oct 2010)
NB: Ole is solely to be blame for this our loss as he made the wrong substitution thinking he was making the best substitution he could have made.
So out of curiosity what substitution would you have made in that situation or which personal would you have brought in and who would you have removed? Could you elaborate on how you would have lined up yesterday after that red.

He already made a sensible sub in the first half replacing Sancho with Dalot, there was no reason to take out VDB, that sub effectively gifted Young Boys the game

Clearly he wanted to move to a back three to allow Shaw and Dalot push forward more when we attack . Out of Pogba, Bruno, Fred and Vdb, who would you take out when moving to a back 3?

Why should we move to back three? We got a red card 10 minutes before halftime, wetin we don play wey go warrant going more defensive?

Because Ole wanted a back 3 in anticipation of Young boys putting on another striker and to push Shaw and Dalot forward to act as wingbacks. You didn't answer my question. Out of Pogba, Bruno, Fred and Vdb, who would you take out when moving to a back 3?

My point is that taking out anyone wasn't necessary since there was no way of knowing which way the game would go just then.

the team he started would have won the game, no doubt about that. however, I'm of the opinion that you play your finest 11 and rest players after qualification (or the result) must have been sealed.
for that particular game, Dalot for Sancho (or Ronaldo) is still ok and the team saw out the first half. no complains.
based on the game dynamics, there was absolutely no reason for a back five switch. it's absurd because that leaves three midfielders to shield the back.
Pogba was giving the ball away constantly in deep areas, the sensible thing is to take him out and not VDB who was just about the best player in the first half.
Pogba out for Matic, and retain a 4-4-1 diamond like shape. Fred and Bruno have the engine, the four in midfield can retain possession and Fernandes can easily support the lone man upfront when we break.
defensively we force them to attack from wide and their cross quality was subpar anyways. Varane can replace Lindelof if he feels uncomfortable with the crosses.
Greenwood can come in for the lone guy upfront later in the game.
when you go a man down, you leave or introduce that player that the opposition know will take his opportunity if they sleep. that way you give them something to think about and not just pour forward to bombard you constantly.
I'm sorry but Martial is still a waste of substitution when playing with 10 men.

Wrong in my opinion. You cannot take out Pogba who is the best long passer in the team especially when you are going to be sitting deeper. He is the only one who can create from deep . Ole always keeps his best players cause they can produce a moment of magic at any time which is understandable. Going to a back 5 was not the problem.
