Subscription to last week's NTB auction (15 Sept) certainly reduced. I wonder if it was because of panic dollar buying.....hmmm

Yeah, it's likely.

Honestly I don't know why CBN doesn't increase rates to at least double digit (personally I think rates should be 13-15%, ie close to the inflation's)

That way, it would at least stem some of the mad rush for dollars.

That's not far from the truth, everyone's is looking for a save haven to keep and grow their money. Tbs current rates compare to the present hyper inflation rates is so laughable and ridiculous

How do you close inflation by causing more inflation? undecided
What do you think investors will do with all the free naira CBN will give with TB at 15%?
That'll cause more inflation My friend as naira will weaken the more.
Now is the time to curb naira ,curb budgets and government spending, increase taxes,etc...

That makes sense re: inflation rate. I also cannot understand CBN's actions besides trying to reduce the cost of governments borrowing.

I don't know if it has changed. But before now they said you can only transfer money that got to your account via and not deposit.

No dollar Should not equate to no Investment!...
You can still invest in Abacus money market fund for risk averse investors and
some good fundamental stocks if you can take risk while waiting to get dollars.
Click the link on my signature to start. Account opening is free.

Please @emmasoft, why Abacus and not VGIF? Is it because of the 50k initial deposit for the latter or are there other hidden reasons? Merci beaucoup

Actually the two mutual funds are not in the same category. Abacus is a MMF while VGIF is in the fixed income category.

However, the reason I will pick Abacus right now is because the rate for Abacus 7.71% is higher than that of VGIF 4.5%, more so the MPC meeting left all parameters the same, that means the rate of VGIF cannot be changed since sdf is still the same but the rate of Abacus is still upward looking.

I also don’t save or invest in naira anymore. When I get paid at the end of the month, I take out my monthly running costs, convert the rest into dollars and put it into my range of investment.

Why are some people desperately trying to make others to invest in dollar?

I believe anybody on investment section of this site has an idea of what's going on with d naira. so it's absolutely unnecessary to keep brandishing $$$ almost every where

The dollar rose to between N572 and N575 in different parts of the country on Monday barely two days after online platform, Aboki FX, stopped providing updates on the exchange rate.

Our correspondent, who visited the ever-busy Wuse Zone 4 which is the hub of bureau de change operators in Abuja, observed that the dollar was sold for N574 as opposed to the N570 it was sold for on Friday.

In Lagos, the dollar was sold at N572 while in Kano it was N575 as of 3pm on Monday. The pound was sold for N780 as opposed to N770 last Friday.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, had accused the online foreign exchange update platform, Aboxi FX, of manipulating the forex market.

The failed Nigeria govt will always look for who to blame for their ineptitudes while the gullible ones will claiming patriotism meanwhile their nerworth is going down the drain.
