TrebleChamp:It is a poultry League sef. Even NUGA games is more competitive. National Sports festival football competition will give it a run for its money. Even defunct Shell Secondary Schools competition and YSFoN cup of blessed memory are almost as good as it is. |

hoopLA:Southgate was the reason the players of the best league in the world cannot pass the ball accurately? Even if Southgate asked his boys to defend or park the bus for 2 hours, did he also ask them to also give the ball away as often as England did that night? hoopLA:When England was winning, it was the brilliance of Shaw, the dominance of Maguire and the killer instinct of Kane. When they got battered in the final, yeah - it was Southgate’s fault. hoopLA:I failed to understand how you arrived at this illogical conclusion. What have Coquelin and the other PL rejects gotta do with England’s inability to win a competition in 55 years? hoopLA:Finally, you got the point but your method of getting there or your logical translation of Spain’s success is flawed. You should notice the emergence of Barcelona as the best club from the best league in Europe also coincided with Spain’s longest spell of success. Spain won Euro 2008, World Cup 2010 and Euro 2012. This had a lot to do with Barca’s 2006 CL victory and most especially Pep’s Barcelona from 2008 Summer to 2013 summer. That is a classic example of the best league contributing to the best national team. hoopLA:Portugal winning the Euros was a fluke. This is the reason they couldn’t sustain their success in the following World Cup or successfully defending their European championship title this summer. hoopLA:I didn’t conclude the best national team should be Italy. That A = B does not necessarily mean B = A. I said the best league in the world should produce the best national team. It does not necessarily infer the best national team has the best league. Any national team can win a competition(via fluke: cue Portugal, Greece, etc) but can they sustain the success like Spain did? It was you that had the logic reversed, don’t put that on me. The PL has been beating their chest as the best league in the world for the last 20 years and yet there’s nothing to show for it. England hasn’t won any trophy in 55 years. Ask yourself why the league many people think is the best cannot produce top indigenous players that can represent England to win international competitions. Spain owed their success from 2008 to 2012 to La Liga being the best league in the world. Barcelona/Madrid players made up 98% of that Spanish side that went on to destroy all the teams put before them. Del Bosque even had to mirror Barca’s tiki taka in the national team to get the best out of the players and it worked. Stop comparing that level of success to Italy, Greece or Portugal winning a one off competition and failing to defend their title in the next international competition. Spain won 3 competitions in a row to exert their total dominance. That’s the kind of level of success I expect from a country that has “the best league in Europe”. |

At the Euros final 5 of the starting 11 have been voted as part of the best 11 in the EPL in recent years Every tournament England plays, its the same yet nothing to show for it At a time we heard Terry, Rio Cashley, Gerrard, Lampard, Beckham Rooney Owen were world class but failed to deliver for their country Every tournament its always the coach's fault and since I started following football England has tried over 10 coaches yet its always the coach's fault when England fail to deliver |

Illimitable:This is poppycock. And you are the one who gets discombobulated by simple questions. I asked you to tell me if every player in each position in that English team are the best in those same positions in the EPL. Cos you were using the English team to judge the EPL. Your argument was along the lines of “the National team is the only metric to judge a league.” You are wrong. It is a very illogical view. The English national team is not a reflection of the English league. If not, why is Maguire not the best CB in the English league? If you think Maguire isn’t the best CB in the league, why the hell are you then using him as the standard for the EPL?? FFS. And that is the nonsense talk we’re going to beat out of you. After you’ve answered the bolded, go back to my earlier post and answer the telling questions you ran away from: The Italian league was dominating Europe in the 1990s. How many world cups did Italy win during that period?Answers on a postcard dude. |

TheLequte:Why not? 5 of the starters in the final were the best in their position in the EPL in recent seasons. John Stones was actually voted as one of the best CB in the league 1month before the start of the Euros, Luke Shaw the best Left Back and Harry Kane the best attacker England has more players in the best eleven of the "best league" yet we shouldnt use the league to judge England but rather blame Southgate like we blamed Erikson Capelo, Hoddle, McLaren Big Sam and everyone before them When La Liga was the top league as evidenced by performance of Madrid and Barcelona even though Ronaldo and Messi were not Spainards we saw how Spain dominated, when Germany had Dortmund and Bayern make the CL finals we saw that translate to a world cup win with mostly players in the Bundesliga But when its England that is when we start blaming Fanny Amun, Kadiri Ikhana and Arsene Wenger |

| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 4:22pm On Sep 21, 2021 |
melodyogonna:Messi is not finished. However the excuse should not be that Ligue 1 defenders are as good as EPL defenders. The season has just started and he is still getting used to his team mates is a good explanation, not trying to claim that the defenders of Angers, Lens, and Lorient are world beaters. |

Messi is a GOAT and would forever remain one. It's normal if he hasn't started hitting the nets like everybody expected. We fit understand. But for his fanboys to start glorifying Ligue 1 is a taboo. It ought to be nipped in the bud ![]() If not for Sheikh, which world class team dey that league sef? I don't even see what his fanboys will use to drag others in the future. Messi go finally score and e go assist. We all know that. But till then.... Ronaldo - 4 Messi - 0 |

afrodoc2:The issue of new teammates aside, Messi has had somewhat of a slow start (in terms of goals) the past two seasons. You're probably not, but I think many people are being mischievous about the whole thing you know, while they know he'll pick up as the season progress, they will use this late start to push a narrative (or agenda) while it lasts. |
