SweetJJ:
My application is that of faith. So I started the journey last year around June/July 2020. The first University I saw offering my course (Special Education Specialization in Education of the Deaf) was University of British Columbia, and after going through their website and the department, I reached out to supervisors. I found out there are just two supervisors that could supervise my PhD study.

The first told me that my proposal is interesting but she is retiring soon and cannot take a PhD student. The 2nd person told me that she has so much on her hands and cannot take a student at the moment. I persuaded and persuaded but it all reached a dead end.

I started hunting again, I reached out to two supervisors in University of Alberta, one told me she is retiring soon and I am left with one option. Happily she accepted to supervise me and encouraged me to apply.

I later got to know she just start work a month before I reached out to her. Admission portal opened and I applied... And the wait started from October till 16th March 2021. I was admitted. Sadly though, without any funding. I reached out to her about that and she said she will offer me research assistant for the fall term, that the grant she applied for is yet to be approved.

I acted in faith, paid my full Tuition fee (8700cad), showed 2mil in my account, 1mil in my pension account, 4kCad from my supervisor for assistantship and two weeks later the department sent me 5kcad scholarship and I uploaded it through webform.

So In all my POF is not up to 25kCAD. It's just for one year. And I am going for 4year PhD. And I am self sponsored as I couldn't get anyone that will sponsor me. So I was really really scared but I trusted My God Jehovah.

Documents submitted

1) All the IRCC form
2) Admission letter
3) My birth certificate
4) My marriage certificate
5) My kids birth certificate
6) Our 3rd year anniversary family picture
7) My 5 siblings Birth certificate
cool My employment letter
9) My promotion letter
10) My work ID
11) Detailed 5pages SOP. I actually changed course. I studied Biochemistry undergrad, studied PGDE, Masters in Education and going for PhD. But my current work is still with my BSc
12) Undergrad Cert and Transcript (3rd class)
13) PGDE cert and Transcript (1st class)
14) M.ED Marksheet (1st class) my transcript and certificate were not out as at that time.
15) IELTS cert overall 7.5
16) upfront medical slip

POF
MBS of 2mil
MBS of salary account (less than 100k)
Pension account of 1mil
RA letter from my supervisor of 4kCAD
Scholarship letter of 5kCAD

Timeline:

Upfront Medical 20th April
App submitted 14th May
Medical updated to pass 26th May
Eligibility Review started 1st or 2nd June

Looooooooonnnnngggg waaaiiiiiiiiittttttttttt

Bvl 20th September
PPR 22nd September

In between I ordered 4gcms note,1st and 2nd came with Review Required. 3rd came with Recommend Interview. I am yet to receive the 4th.

I hope I have not forgotten anything.

Flaws of my application:
I am leaving my twin boys 2years and I just partially mentioned that my mother inlaw will take care of them while I am away. I didn't submit my husband employment letter or bank account. Funds seems not enough. I had lump sums which I explained as company's business money. No landed documents submitted.

Jehovah perfected my application. I trusted in him with all my heart. I saw his hands all through this process. This is my first application. I also applied to only one school.

I am really grateful to you all for this platform. Thanks guys.
I am just so happy for you ma. My Educational profile and your own is just alike. I pray mine too end in success. I will have love to mail you but I don't know if I am permitted

Guys for your biometrics, avoid those miscreants. Don't ever drop your bag or luggage or valuables with them. Go inside with your property, pay 260naira to use their safe.

Also use the checklist below for all you need.

Credits: Gracedson (My Nairaland Soldier)

1 - Face Mask (very important, they will push you to buy, i was well prepared, i took two along)
2 - Don’t be late (they close early)

Two copies of the following document (they must be in colored, except for the appointment letter which is fully black/white):
3 - Data page of passport (Don't forget, it must be colored)
4 - Appointment letter
5 - Biometric instruction letter (print all the 3 pages, *colored)
6 - International passport (very important, don't forget it at home)

Print everything before you get there because printing is very costly in the vicinity. Those miscreant will frustrate your life just because they want to make money.

I went prepared. Thanks to Gracedson
