BluntCrazeMan As far as I am concerned, that calculation is okay. However, I think the fault is that you were applying rules were they shouldn't apply. For instance, you applied factorization rules when you were dealing with denominators and numerators. Mathematical rules have topics where they ate relevant. |

The difference of two squares formula states a^2-b^2=(a+b)(a-b) where a does not equal b. so it went wrong at 10^2-10^2 2 Likes |

I think where it says (10 - 10)/(10 - 10). It is just like saying (x - x)/(x - x) or (0)/(0) which is equal to 0 SINCE IT HAS NO VALUE. 1 Like |

Inspiration007:They are the same sir One is the difference of two squares while the other is 100-100 in square root form. There is no law that insists in difference of 2 squares applying to both numerator or denominator. The answer is that using 100 is a mathematical fallacy because the solution only works for squares of numbers but not simple non-squares. A common man way of answering this is by asking urself where 100 came from 1 Like |

xy is the same as yx. it is just like saying 2x3 = 3x2 which is equal to 6. Therefore, -xy + xy = 0 Tdotbluejays: 1 Like |

To start with, there is no such expression as 0/0. It does not exist, or better still, it is indeterminate (to use appropriate mathematical term). Now, on the right hand side, why did you apply difference of 2 squares to the numerator but then decided to factorise the denominator? Because, if you hadn't done that, you would have ended up at 1/1 giving you 1 as the result on the RHS. This goes again to prove the inconsistency and indeterminate nature of the expression on the LHS. In summary, you haven't proved nothing! You have only played some pun on the figures. These are the kind of jokes we play back in school. A case of saying 1+1 = 10, if you work in modulo 2. It's all for fun but not necessarily correct. 1 Like |

It went wrong as soon as (10 -10)/(10 - 10) was taken as equal to 1. Applying BODMAS, the operations inside the brackets must be taken cared of first before division can be done. Hence, (10 -10)/(10 - 10) is still 0/0 which is undefined. The proof is wrong as simple BODMAS principle was not adhered to. |
