Some of you commenting and blaming the creditor can't even allow your 1k to spend overnight with someone talkless of of 4.6m...some people are born debtors ,they are very calm and nice when they want to beg and collect money from you, but becomes very tricky when it's time to pay

Police abeg make una help the man collect he 4.6m

How can you have the mind to owe someone 4.6m in this present situation and you expect make dem nor use rope tie you .

That is the nature of most Nigerians. Paying back loans taking in good faith is near impossible today. Funny thing is sometimes the debtor has the money but because of wickedness would refuse to pay. Imagine 4.6m at a time like this.

When you think you've seen it all in Nigeria!! Imagine what would have happened to that Man if the wife wasn't aware of his whereabout. This creditor may just eventually dump him in the Ebute Metta lagoon after exhausting every means of getting his debt unsuccessfully.

Then how will he get his money if the debtor die?

obembet:
A young creditor identified as Oluchi Okoye aka PACA has been arrested by policemen attached to the Denton Police Station for tying his debtor, Reuben Alozie, to a stake over unpaid N4.6m debt.

The suspect tied the victim to a stick with ropes at No. 29, Abeokuta Street, Ebute Metta, Lagos from 22nd September to 23rd September when he was eventually rescued by the police.

According to the suspect, he resulted to self help after several efforts to recover his money from the victim failed.

The arrest of the suspect was made possible following a complaint lodged at the station by victim's wife, Angela Reuben who reported that her husband was deprived of his liberty by the suspect who held him hostage.

Following the arrest, the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu directed that the suspect should be transferred to the Command's Tactical team for diligent investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police uses this medium to warn people against taking the law into their own hands instead of taking legal actions to seek justice.

I will do more than that to a debtor. Those people are wicked. The idiot will be drinking beer and carrying olosho everywhere whereas he is owing someone a whooping sum of 4million.
I have decided that any money I cant let go I won't lend a Nigerian. Debt collection in Nigeria can take years and sometime you still won't get your money.

Bros have you ever in your life borrowed someone 1m naira before ...please respond ASAP...it's easy to quote all this law because it doesn't involves you....look at how inhuman the law you are quoting is ..
Kelvinhunta:
Ur comment shows u don't know how the law works! I tell u, he has lost that money for good. Sometimes you need to think b4 u take action, he de owe u and since u tye him,has d money come out? Now Court will ask him how do u want to pay back and he will say 1k monthly yet u will be languishing in jail for ur inhumane treatment to him and even murder attempt with some other charges

So you think it's by tying up the man that will make him to get his money. Supposing the man has some health complications already and he eventually died overnight? That's murder.

Never put law into your hands when aggrieved otherwise you will end up being the aggressor and accuse.

What the creditor did was bad.But the man deserve no pity..I hate people who pay good with evil..How can somebody give you 4.5million and all you could say is you have the money and you don't want to pay?that's pure evil.. Tell me how the creditor will help next time..I'm sad for the creditor to be honest.

I appreciate when you pointed the creditor's wrong! Now we need to look in between and know if there had been a surety, collateral or any kind of security for the loan. If there are, those are the options the man should have towed.

And of course, he could have reported to police, if they will work on the petition or not is a case for another day. Two wrongs don't make a right. Some years ago, I lost a whopping sum to fraud related saga and made reports and all that to Police and EFCC, nothing came out of it. I had to move on with my life. Though it was challenging but I cannot take laws into my hands else I will have myself to blame. Mine was even a crime case BUT this issue here is DEBT so there's no reason whatsoever for the creditor to take that position.

That's my own take anyways.

I understand ur point,I understand his position but am just telling u what d law says and we all r guided by d laws. Knowing the law would have made him avoid this mess. Now coming to ur question, assuming u r in his position and u want to lend such amount to someone even if ur elder brother, wount u have asked for something like collateral?

If you don’t have something worth more than the amount you are asking to put down as collateral, you are wasting you time with me.
I have been in this earth long enough to have seen things.

The point remains that any one that lends over 4m to someone without any form of collateral is really insane.let me say it again, any person that lends over 4m to anyone including their family members without a standard collateral is seriously MAD and needs urgent psychiatrist attention

With a smart lawyer, the debtor that was tied up like a goat about to be slaughtered is completely free from his debt. He should instruct a lawyer to file action for breach of his fundamental right, play this video to a judge and no judge will not award him damages above what he was owing. In fact the creditor will now become the debtor.
Oh, so he has the money to pay a smart lawyer but no money to pay the person he cried to borrow from. Evil people everywhere.

that debtor should be acting and not do biz , he is a big fool for making that sound like a cow that he truely is. Even if you dont have the money there are ways to explain to your creditors. And for the creditor, you've gone far oo, there are ways to recover debts nah, not through this

The actor is the one on the floor. The one that will suffer it, is the one seeing red shirt. That question the policeman was asking him will make him implicate himself. "Is this how u want to collect your money?"
