If you watched him then, you'll know how good this guy was. His left foot is crazy. Short like Messi, a great dribbler and can curl the ball from any Angle. Oh, I love that guy then

He was playing in a youth tournament that he was almost twice the age of the participants, ofcourse he would look like Messi

Its the Nigerian league phenomena. These players arent well groomed due to greed and impatience on the part of the club owners. They pick the players up and without much preparations the players are introduced into the amateurish and mediocre Nigerian league where their talent stagnate. At the end , what you have is a players with potentials that never developed fully. They continue playing in the league until the usual invite to national team where they often show those flashes of brilliance but at this time they are probably in their 30s and in another two to three years the party is over.

This happened to Ahmed Musa (yes Musa plays rubbish 70% of the time), Uzoenyi , Kolanut boy , Jude Aneke , Sunday Mba etc. Iwuala might still go that route. Nigerian league is shhit.

Yeah The "kolanut boy" the abia warriors dude was a goal poacher
He signed for Moroccan club that was the last we heard of him...he was relatively young then

Aneke too was a goal machine in the Nigeri a league over 20 goals was no fluke but today he has gone way side

What really helped musa was his move to the Dutch league upon leaving the Npfl had it been he went to RSA or North Africa he would have end up same way

Talent wise, Uzoenyi was one of the best to ever come out of the NPFL...More talented than Musa,IMO.... But that's life...

Which talent, you call dribbling against children talent, Musa held his own at the world stage for a number of years, that is talent

What, Ejike uzoenyi was such a gem that year. A lot of Nigerians mounted pressure on Steven keshi to add him to the world cup list of 2014 and he Succumbed. He really deserved it. Where did it all gone wrong?

I thought we've got our Messi then. What really happened to him?

I tell u
Wanted see him star in the world cup then

Watched how that chan team came from 3 goals down to upset Morocco with Ejike grabbing a brace and he end up winning the tournament MVP...

You may be right on this.. If they channel the same energy they put in their male national team into the female national team, it may only be a matter of time before they catch up with us.. We still have the advantage of producing the most talented players, but talent itself alone is never enough....

Yes they've realised that and they're working on it currently. Nigeria is so blessed with human resources but the infrastructure is our problem

None of those players boss CHAN

Chan is not a youth tourney but a tournament for home based national team players.....

This shows you don't even know about the competition.
The competition is not a age grade tournament bro. It's strictly for home base players. Players that play in Africa Leagues. You can be 40 years and play. It's not a youth tournament

The only player ever refered to Nigeria Messi is Stanley Okoro. Don't mix them together

The coach needs to explain how Sanusi don't always make Match day squad in the league but always a starter in the champions league. What's his plan ?

Musa was lucky as he was a product of the famous gbs academy that also gave us Samuel kalu, moses Simon etc. Also he was very young when he left the npfl and so he had the time to learn.
I strongly believe iwuala will make it as he has already scored a goal and win a trophy in Tunisia. He will be like utaja or amunike who went to Europe after a strong showing in North Africa

If you knew Uzoenyi from his Rangers days then you would not say this. The boy had great potential that was never developed.

Very succinctly put, my guy. At least , we still have people that understands the underlying problems bedeviling our local league. If they are young enough to travel out and develop their talents like the U17 boys like Awoniyi, Nacho , Chukwueze and company then you have a chance in mounding a complete player but if they struggled to make ends meet until they leave the country in their 30s like Uzoenyi , Aneke, Mba, Egwuekwe then na hustling things.

I have cried enough for our local league but I have also learned something in the process; as long as Nigeria remains in its current state the professional local league will remain an eyesore.
