Although am just also starting my pre clinicals but when I saw Straight and concise text then I couldn't help but to give you a few suggestions as I was also Stranded on this part.

So For Gross Anatomy, I recommend you start with Vishram Singh, For me I started by opening last Anatomy, and straight up I started disliking Anatomy as last Wasn't so explanatory As I had wanted, So I skipped it and went For Keith Moore, although this was a little bit friendly, It was so voluminous, and since you said you don't like volume, I won't push you there, but when I opened Vishram Singh textbook on Anatomy, I started seeing clear waters, so for Gross anatomy, with Extra concise and straight to the point, I'll recommend Vishram Singh. I although it's no Harm if you combine Vishram with Keith Moore, as Keith Moore got real cool Diagrams and Clinical correlation(Blue box).

For Physiology, Although sembuligam seems to Be the best pick for most of us due to the fact that's it's just bullet point without much history and all that, I'll still prefer You go with Guyton and hall because Guyton is So user friendly and Way more Explanatory.. I'll say u start with Guyton first then mayb later switch to sembuligam when preparing for MB...although i still find comprehensive physiology Sweet to my eyes. So once again I can do some combo here. Guyton x comprehensive or Sembuligam x comprehensive.

For BCH, Well I won't say much on this cause I haven't decided yet, I started with vasudevan as that is the most common in my school, But Essential Biochemistry by Naik seems to be more Explanatory to me than vasudevan, chattegea also Makes more sense to me than vasudevan, but the book has some so to say unessential details.. So for consiceness just go with Vasudevan ND make a combo by adding Lecture notes and Essential.

For Histo, Indebir Singh got my Vote here, although Junqueira Should be the best book for histo to me, but I just somehow like Indebir more because of its conciseness.. Am not sure Ave seen Vasudevan histo before, And wheaters Histo is also cool.. So for combo sake, just go with Indebir Singh ND Wheaters, but don't neglect Junqueira, that book got some good stuff..

PS: it's just my recommendation based on your requirements, It might not suit you like it is for me.. Actually the best way to select text is by Doing a quick experiment on them all to ascertain the one that suits you best, recommendation from a colleague sometime might not work.
evening boss... Is it comprehensive physiology by GK Pal ?

if you can make a first class... It would be nice.

Some schools like UI admit only first class (no exams, they will use transcript, the higher the better).

If you apply to a school like Unilorin you will be getting maximum points under your certificate section, you will only need to score high in the putme... Though Unilorin can be tribalistic and their admission process isn't straight forward sha.

For school like Uniben, they admit just 5 out of many applicants, they write exams though and from experience they prefer jupeb or Alevel candidates to degree.

Why don't you try your institution ?

If you don't mind you can take Utme and DE, if it's still possible.

MLS is actually a very good course Sha, a bit surprised you want to still go for medicine. But others have done it...
we aren’t that bad na. But ui also considers your institution. I also agree that your chances may be best in your institution. But if you have a first class definitely shoot your shot

Does Uniben admit candidate that wrote JUPEB from other centres, other than the Uniben centre into medicine? What is their cut-off points on JUPEB? How many slots are allocated to JUPEB candidates.

Does a candidate with 232 (given the abysmally low scores in this year UTME) in post UTME stand a chance to gain admission into medicine?

Whilst not trying to derail, please how can you compare the quality of training in private universities to the federal and state universities medical programmes? Cause the discussions here largely centres on the federal and state universities for medicine but not the private schools.

I want candid opinions please.

Thank you

232 and a 96 in post utme will do it. The question is can u score 96?

Hi.

I haven't been to any private medschool before so, I have no first-hand experience.

However, any school that is accredited to teach medicine is good enough. This settles the issue of "quality." Note that whatever that is not learnt during medschool would eventually be learnt in your practice.

There is so much stress in public schools. I'm not sure if the stress in private schools is equivalent. I doubt.

Another important point to look at is tuition. Of course, no need to hammer too much here.

Standard still varies. You can't compare UI standard to EBSU standard, apologies! even when they are both accredited. The kind of boss you'll learn a job from will always have effect on how much you know. Gaining admission is the Ultimate but the standard differs.

Hello chief,

You've got a point but do recall that we all write the same board exams (post-grad). The school where one primarily studies is only minimal in the making of a doctor. At the end of the day, the doctor is a product of the centre(s) he trained at from the post-grad level. What I mean is, the residency program (years of practical/hands-on learning compared to theoretical undergrad education) contributes more.

You know there are some very average undergrad students that turn out excellently (as specialists) years later. Reasons? Individual efforts and postgrad experiences.

Once a school is accredited, it's good to go, its facilities or staff members notwithstanding (as far as it meets the MINIMAL requirements of a medschool). One of our teachers always says that it's when we return for house job that actual medical training starts.. What we do at this level is only prep.

This is only my opinion, chief.

You Haven't seen anything bro, I know a classmate of mine that just concluded from Engineering Dept. Others abound, not to mention the Masters holders. Simply med school for you.

How's prep for MB going? It's really hot on us here. Infact, it's choking..

If I may ask oo..... Is it legal to run two programs in a school at the same time?

What if the school authorities find out??
