Dalot got slaughtered yes, but he hasn’t got much minutes to play with so mayb he can improve defensively. He also should not be the sole person to be held responsible for the defensive issues, the midfield was slaughtered yesterday. Offensively, he brought more than the 1 dimensional AWB. AWB defensively seem better because of speed but a lot of the aspect of his game are last ditch tackles where if you miss you get send off like last game.

To be sincere, Mctominay and Fred are not good at protecting the defence, we need to play with 3 Midfielders that can both win the ball back and attack as well not just a DM.

Of course, they are not the gold standard. I can count about 5 elite DMs in the PL that do a better job than the total output of McFred. I have said it here time and time again that McFred does the job of one DM.

However, the two of them are the best we have got. Ole may be called stupid but he’s completely correct by playing McFred all the time. He doesn’t have a better combo. Their combo might struggle in ball progression but they offer the best defensive shield to the back 4.

Pogba or Bruno should be bench for Van de beek, let see how the team will fare with Mcfred and van de beek. We have Sancho, Greenwood, Fernandez, Pogba, Martial and Ronaldo who are ahead of Ziyech, Havertz, Lukaku, Mount, Werner, Pulisic in attacking play, yet chelshit just use 3 of them or 2 of them to play most of the time.

Until the other player is played for a long term, you never know who can be better. Until DDG improves his aerial ball ability (crosses, corners) I still will always be afraid. For now is at his best in reflexes which we know him for.

I co-sign trying this but i would suggest trying VDB at the base and allowing Fred( or McTom) to be more box-to-box.
