Some people no just get sense. Casting yourself in public. Loan this loan that.

Cynosure95:
Why did you find it difficult to adhere to simplle instruction. @Justwise has said it on several occasion that no one should mention loan or an arranged POF on this platform or thread.

You don't really need to get new certificate, your new passport has the old passport number stated on it. But if you feel like getting new certificate it's N8,500 just visit IOM

Hello house. I’m new here. I wish to apply for a UK masters for my wife, January 2022 intake. I’m considering Sheffield Hallam University.

A couple of questions please:

Is it too late to begin the admission processing?
We are a family of 3, how much do we have to show as POF?

Thank you.

Good day, forgive me if this seems to be a silly question. Last year, I was given admission for September intake which I decided to push up for January 2021. Due to financial issues, I couldn't go ahead with the January intake. But (thank God) I finally have the full tuition fee for my Msc course that I intend to be applying for January 2022.

My question is, do I have to go through applying for (the same) course again or I just send them an email stating my interest to study the said course in January?

Btw, the school still has my details. Thanks

send the school a message..it applies differently to different school

POF depends on the tutions fees for the course you will be studying.. its the maintenance fee that is fixed ( check page 1 for more clarity). i know someone currently applying to same school so i don think its too late to begin admission processing

Thank you. Tuition fee is about 14.5k. I heard there’s a discount (yet to confirm this).

Guys, I did my biometrics last week but I didnt pay for courier service. I really wish I had. Because I just realised how difficult it would be to go back to pick my passport. Is there a way to change it? Any hope?

You can pay for courier after, when your passport is ready for collection. But I heard it takes longer time for it to get to you. Like a few extra days

When you go for your biometrics appointment, you will be asked over the counter there. That was what happened during my biometrics appointment.

Thanks for your response. Yes it is true that Kent is lively and lovely to reside, even if you work in London but only for people who drive. A return ticket form where I live in Kent to my uni daily is £33. So we just have to move.

I suggest u try to book your coach earlier than the travelling date. I live in Swindon but school in London-Canary wharf to be precise and I spend just £10 for return.

This argument is a yearly thing here, those who are planning to use untouchable loan to get a visa then come here with little or no money will get angry as they are doing now but you know what? Since 2009 when this thread started i'm yet to see any one of them come back here to say they have succeeded in studying and working to pay school fees, no jack has done that, soon one will open a thread to cry how the UK take your money and you get no job, they are racist bla bla bla.

All this fighting talk ends when they get to the UK and face reality, then they start looking for ways to stay back, claim to be gay, suddenly God has called them to become a pastor, marry their granny age mate here to stay, sham marriage etc.

When you pay thousands to the school and did not come with the money to survive here then you are not smart or intelligent

I believe deep down, we all know the truth. Naija hard well well, so people just want to leave by any means. Na to just de remind them say some of this ways them no de always work as we de think am.

You know say we Nigerians we too de lie. Person wey go de abroad de do another thing go tell family and friends say na school and work. You go believe them and enter, then you go con realize say the story wey them tell you get k-leg.

Just talk the one wey you won talk. Trust me, people wey go hear go hear, even if say na one person life you fit change with your advice, that one na kingdom work already…

Please, I need some clarification. I applied to Teesside for Biomedical Science (1 year) and I'm yet to get my offer. I now saw Food Science and technology (2years with advanced practice which is 7,500 per year) and I would love to change to it.

1.What is the advantage of choosing a 2year course over a 1 year course?

2.Do I need to show POF (Living expenses +Balance of tuition) for 2 years or 1 year?

3. Will I pay IHS for 2 years or 1 year?

Please, I would appreciate answers to these so as to take my decision. Thank you.

If you are comfortable with the Course offered, I would encourage you to go for it.

Q1. It will ease your financial burden as you would be paying half your tuition fee for the first year. The balance of your fees after the £4,000 deposit can be paid up to 7 instalments and you are not obliged to make any payments on enrollment.

Amother benefit is that you would have the privilege of spending one semester in either:

1. Vocational Internship - Spending one semester working full-time in industry. This Would allows you gaining valuable experience which will enhance your CV and make you more attractive to international employers and also enables you apply your knowledge and skills in a real-world setting

2. Research Internship : You develop your research and academic skills by undertaking a research internship within the University.

3. Study Abroad : Participate in an academic exchange with one of their partner universities and experience study, student life and culture in a different environmentm.  (look out for Canada or USA.. lol)

When you undertake 2 years course, all standard breaks applies. Meaning you can work 24 hours a day during standard break to earn more income. This is unlike 1 year course that are titled to just the winter break and spring break.

Q2. POF for Tuision fee and Maintenance is for 9 months.

Q3. IHS is payment is for 2.5 years.

I hope this helps..

Well I may not have worked and studied in the UK, but I have Studied online for a UK post graduate degree from Nigeria while working full-time, running a demanding tech business on the side, being a husband and dad to 2 kids and still finishing with a distinction. So without a doubt I believe it's possible. It takes strategy.

Mr oga why you dey argue with person wey done use like a decade oor more for UK ....so na you wise pass am ni...that dude has ILR so oga ya level of information no reach him own at all... una no dey d same level... online no fit be like offline.....do you work 20hrs, when you were doing your online classes that guy has started and been on so many travel out thread.....if you know what it takes to get it ILR ... you'll know that... you still be learner as you might even be in Nigeria or currently arrived the UK

Take note I did not say it was gonna be easy I only said it is possible. Trust me I have juggled really difficult things in my life while studying I am not afraid of challenges anymore. "Where there is will there is a way". Let's stay positive guys.

Plus studying in the UK is same whether online or offline. It's just a series of papers, workshops, presentations and seminars. You must be prepared to do a lot of research and writing. If you manage your time properly you can succeed.

Additionally choosing a course of study where you have strength can give you a head start. But choosing a course you know nothing about sets u at a disadvantage already.

Just my 2cents.

your 2 cents no dey scent at all.... E be like say you no understand wetin dem dey tell you ni... e nor easy ooo... I have a friend who went to Uk last year with this kind morale wey you dey carry... e shock am... guy sef no dey fit respond to chat sef... school work load and work...

Hello people! Please who has gotten IHS refund on this forum? What does the underlined statement mean? Does it mean the applicant that was refused gets a full refund and the main applicant who has a dependent gets a partial refund too?
Thank you.

So I don't like back and forth but good to address some of your misconceptions.

I'm not interested in why people are asking for student loan on nairaland - my advice is to any genuine person who stumbles on that comment so they can be well informed. If you must take a student loan to get a degree, if you think that's the best thing for you, please do it!

There's nothing different about UK student loan (asides accessibility). Its a loan, and the expectation is to payback. Its not free money. The only place where its free is Scotland and thats why I put that in bracket (comes with some requirement). If you think you can run away from paying back because you don't meet the earning threshold, you better think again because its going on your credit score, i'm sure you know what that means.

i wont go into why fewer Britons register for masters degree, that's left to individual interpretation. But there will be far more fewer Britons in your maters class.

Again to those who would ask, living and studying in the UK is not easy!! But you know what, its not impossible either! Just tell yourself I can do IT.

justwise:

That section is not entirely true, student loan here works differently, its not the same as Nigeria, many Nigerians here in this thread are using untouchable loans, they have no access to that money, just to get a visa then return the money.

Uk student is a completely difference thing, they are given the money and you don't have to pay back the loan if you are not earning enough, if you are earning about £27k a year you pay back £53 a month.

Your second point about British not doing masters because of the cost is not entirely true as well, because they also have student loan for masters student.

Studying and working is not even the issue, we are talking about those who abuse the system, no intention to study which creates prob for genuine students.

A lot of people study and work but they are not working to pay fees and bills, they work for extra cash for books, clothing, gain work experience etc
