oga i have check almost your comment about herdsmen and i have come to conclusion that you have no knowledge about what you are talking.not insult
I don make my position clear on this matter.

Law of the southern states must be respected, the way Sharia law is been respected by non Muslims living in states operating the Sharia law.

Actually cows are wandering about Ondo State as we speak.

I passed four sets cattle grazers along Dangote Refinery road at Ibeju Lekki, Lagos last week.

I am waiting to see the first six sets of successful arrest, trial and jailing of herdsmen in this country.
You will explain when Nigeria became S. Africa of the 60s.

We are railing everyday against state laws that appear to be unconstitutional like Sharia, banning alcohol or ethnically or vocational targeted laws and people think it is right to arrest herders that are not trespassing peoples farms.

You will tell me why street traders are roaming free and people violating town planning laws have not been arrested.

States should sit down and agree with FG areas to use as cattle zones within each state where people can establish ranches cheaply because of shared services that will make it cheap. Those cattle zones not 'grazing' zones should permit a controlled number of grazers.

The state will own the cattle zones and issue c of o only to the ranchers. Grazers will operate only with permits.

Ranching is expensive and the land take could also drive away crop farmers. The cheapest way to do it is via shared services of water, foliage, silage, veterinarian and the all-important transportation costs.
You have a cow

#100b was released to all the 36 states in Nigeria to build ranching. Is left for the FG to make an investigation into it.

This can't stop states that have decided to pass anti-grazing bill.

Any Fulani that is not happy with the open grazing bill in the south is free to go back to their state of origin, some are not even Nigerians.

A Southern Governor do not owe a Fulani man running his cow business any ranch.

Any Fulani walking around with cattles should be arrested and their cows confiscated. The law is the law.

I have no time for any ethno-religious arguments and I'm doing none. But its becoming more glaring that Nigeria's current government is corrupted with radical Islamic fundamentalists and guys linked with terror financing networks. First of all, a terrorist caught in the north sometime ago said he was being sponsored by government. Another guy said he had information of northern government leaders sponsoring terrorism. Soon after, he died. Now another evidence has appeared linking people in government with terrorism sponsorship.

Now why not think deeply about all this, instead of talking about how BH/ISWAP are locked in stationary war with the army, in the name of being factual and not talking ethno-religious jargons. When you dismiss theories with growing evidence, you might now actually be the wrong one.

Sometimes I wake up here in Sambisa with the feelings that we might just be fighting a Fruitless war in the Northeast.

My reasons :
1) Many peeps are still in support of terrorism( They may not say it with their mouths, but deeply in their hearts) Funnily enough, even by those affected by it.

2) The Poverty Rate is Astronomically high.

3) No Birth Control. A man with no means of income still getting married and procreating several kids with no fatherly care. ( Raw Materials for ISWAP)

Well make we still Dey push and pray.

There are solutions to these; free, compulsory basic education with free meals, compulsory girls education, compulsory vocational education along with free education, social investment programmes financed to the tune of at least N2tr a year for the next 5 years.

The easiest solution would be birth control for the next 10 year's, the population is too much.

Someone is saying solution to this is free and compulsory education in Borno state

I'm asking you this question because you're in Borno, is there no free and compulsory education in Borno state right now? Please Sam, abeg help us answer this question about this education stuff since you're in Borno.

If there will be a social investment program finance with at least #2b for 5 years in the North, my question is who will finance it?

FG or State?

Where will the Government get this money from sef, or the CBN go print more Naira? Because #2 trillion is not a small money o.

If is the FG that is going to run the program, they most also choose a state in the South to also spend at least #2 trillion on, for Social Investment program.

If Northerners have gotten contract to protect oil pipeline in the North base on Federal Character, then there is no excuse why federal character should not be followed in this too.

There is free education in State schools. In fact some schools are partially run by NGOs in most field bases under the Education in Emergency Programs.

The best solution is to let them, nature will run its course. The present high death rate in that part of the country isn't by mistake, trying to force development on them will only end in futility. As the population increases and scarce resources becomes more scarce, fight for the scarce resources will keep increasing and many will keep dying. That part will develop at its own time and pace.
This is the theory of demographic transition.

In one sentence, ranching and grazing is 'more modern', in other paragraph, it suddenly isn't.
Stick to a side...

Due to space constraints and other issues, many developed and developing Nations adopted best practices for livestock. Ranching isn't perfect but it is continually evolving to overcome challenges. Your diatribes and your skirting over the issues (of average farmers like my Uncle) is probably a pointer to the kind of apathy of those in power. Food security is highly important!

That failures have been recorded in the past doesn't mean we should scrap all efforts to solve or adapt better solutions suited to our problems. Many articles on failures and advancements on ranches in Nigeria. Prior to 'Tomato Jos', tomato yields in the North were dire but now it is reaching record yields with a factory on the way?

Imposing a system that does not sit well with other demographics is only going to lead to resentment. Pity some here are interested in shiny new weapons, fancy gears et al without wholesome pictures of fighting battles that could be better avoided.

Pointers to this would be good and valuable. Cheers

A credible source on Twitter gave the number of ISWAP fighters to be as high as 17,000.

In my own opinion, unless most of them are part-time fighters(more of civilians than fighters) we would have seen very large scale attacks on NA formation in the North East. We would have seen larger aggregation of the terrorists too which would have made it easier for the airforce to inflict a lot more damage on them. None of their propaganda videos has also indicated this.

Or maybe the bulk of their fighting force is made up of child soldiers. Especially with the way they force children and adolescents to join them. Consider reading the article written by Abbakar to know more about this.

If it is up to 17,000 as stated by the source then the decrease in attack over the years should be questioned.
From another article that I saw their attack team went from a 1000 conventional force to tenth or hundredth which means there is manpower shortage and thus the evolution of their strategy. If what the source says turn out to be true then it is most likely that they are forced or child fighter

ISWAP alone? Or Bokoharam in General.

Are we including children fighters undergoing training too with them?

Should we include youths under their territory not actively participating?

All these will assist in computing figures.

The most likely answer is that most of them aren't active fighters, they are currently living civilian lifestyle and fending for themselves, the active fighters are spread out across a huge geographical area in various cells, the cells are given monthly stipends for the welfare of their members, so a large logistic line/facility isn't needed.
