Personally, on the MRAP and IFV debate, I'd prefer the IFV. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have alot of MRAPs in large numbers too. Why? We need a troop carrier with massive firepower. Something an MRAP can't do simultaneously. In as much as we see the IFV as a game changer, IMHO, it isn't. The problem has always been our TRADOC. Training and chain of communication/command is a big issue. IFV won't bring anything different. For Heaven sakes, we bought T-72M1s thinking it will win us this war. The T-72M1s are in fact, an overkill. I'm very familiar with tanks, i know what they can do. The T-72 tank is equal to atleast 10 IFVs. The only thing that an IFV offer differently, is troop transportation. An IFV trade, firepower and armour, for troop transportation and mobility. My Final verdict :The Nigerian Army already have enough weaponry to win this war. We need to improve troop training and welfare. Our engineers are suffering a maintenance nightmare. Standardization of equipment is required. Investment in manpower to ensure a quality Junior officer corps and quality leadership. 3 Likes |

HitlerGaddafi: Watch crime rate increase A better approach should have been taken to pay for their crimes Maybe demote them to terma 3 or absorb them as NCOs,,but outright dismissal of people trained for battle and leaving them to the mercy of society is the worst approach 4 Likes |

dragon2: Addressing this MRAP vs IFV question. The mistake made is comparing one against the other, or asking commentators to choose 1 from the two. It's similar to asking us to choose between the MI-17 & MI-35. First, what is an MRAP? An MRAP is an armoured military vehicle designed to provide protection against mines, IEDs and any road side bomb. The MRAP was created in Southern Africa, either South-Africa or Zimbabwe. During the vehicles early days, it was simply known as an APC. Popularity of the word MRAP, the Americans coined the word MRAP, hence the now widespread usage. The earlier American MRAPs were imported South African APCs. The main difference between the MRAP and the regular APC is a higher ground clearance and a V-shaped hull. An IFV or Infantry Fighting Vehicle An IFV is any military vehicle that transports troops to the front line and supports, provides fire support for those troops. So an IFV could be a Toyota pick-up truck with a GPMG gunner or an armoured 8x8 armed with calibers from 30mm and above ATGMs and reconnaissance equipment. As long as that military vehicle transports troops to the frontlines, and provides fire support, it is an IFV. However for the purpose of this discussion, we know which particular IFV our good friend is referring to. The first thing I think military planners in Nigeria consider is cost. So while an IFV is armed with a 30mm, including ATGMs and all the sweet stuffs, a single unit without ammo, training etc could cost up to 2 million USD. While the MRAP or APC is essentially made in Nigeria, costing around 500k USD or lesser per vehicle. So because of funding issues, IED problem, military planners are left with a tough decision to invest in 4 or 5 MRAPs, 1 IFV , Air Support for the air force. This is what I believe is the situation we have seen in the past 4 years. So from the scenario above which would you choose from? 9 Likes 2 Shares |

Not too long ago, I posted a video in relation to land radars used by the army, in the video, the army showed something that looked like a prototype of a modular vehicle, thought someone else would have noticed it and brought it up for discussion, would love to know the status of the program. |

Blueelf:If you hear the crimes/atrocities some of the dismissed cadets commited you would justify their dismissal. It's better they're flushed out of the system now before they get commissioned and bring disgrace to the army, we can all testify to the uselessness of the NPF today it was acts of indiscipline that was left to fester in the system that brought them to this state. FYI some cadets even go as far as raping their junior female cadets, some came in with forged credentials forget matter plenty, cadets no dey hear word. 6 Likes |

PROVERBZ: There is a reason why- taqqiya! In Islam, Taqiya or Taqiyya (Arabic: تقیة taqiyyah, literally "prudence, fear"[1][2] is a precautionary dissimulation or denial of religious belief and practice in the face of persecution.[1][3][4][5]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taqiya You'll NEVER get a straight answer from them. Only circular arguments, ad hominems and sideshows. Just know it was NEVER and will never be a religion of peace. iblawi: Dude, this is important and RELEVANT! I read the excellent Hundeyin expose and it's OBVIOUS that political Islam birthed this F'ERY over generations. They've planned, strategised and funded for years! As a result we are now WHERE we're at. Fyi, in Kenya Somali imams openly challenge young xalimo to have at LEAST 3 kids by 21. People have told me they will soon outnumber Kikuyus! Guys in their 40s have 4 wives and 20 kids. This ISN'T BS- I personally know 3 such Somalis. I never made much of this til a couple of yrs ago reading here and observations in Kenya and regionally. You want us to continue posting Hiluxes, Tavors and those "CION OPS" (sic) pix?
