Regarding the problem of outranging the enemies and effectively taking out enemy guntrucks outside of the enemies firing range, I would suggest the Army go for the ZSU-23 family of guns, majority of those currently operating the ZSU-23-4 shilka will be looking to retire them in the not too distant future, the Nigerian Army can offer to buy them in large quantities for base defense at lower cost then order for the ZSU-23-2 and fix on MRAPs and APCs, this will temporarily serve the role of IFVs until the Army is able to purchase better platforms (probably BMPT Terminator). The 23mm ammo of the ZSU will shred the terrorists guntrucks at 2km while the terrorists will not be able to engage until they are within 1500m. The terrorists used to mount the ZSU-23-2 on their guntrucks but it seems they have ran out of stock or at least have very few quantities left, majority of their guntrucks are now armed with HMGs and GPMGs.
Reason I suggested using the shilka for base defense only is because it is very slow and will be easy for the enemy to capture in a situation where the unit needs to manouvre fast.

Ideally stabilised on BOTH axes for accuracy. This would involve an automatic or hydraulically operated mount .

Thinking of associated costs one must rmbr the support platforms. The dedicated anti sub chopper, the Lynx which we've seen here with Saffas and Algerians starts at 50 mn $, 2 mn $ yearly. Ideally at least a half squadron of 6 land based with min 2 anti sub or multi purpose frigates just for the Gulf of Guinea : corvettes WON'T cut it! Smth with BOTH deck space and internal volume for the sensitive sensor packages and personnel to man them.
For minimum wahala ofc you'd go Chinese. The Type 054a starts at 500mn $ costing 33 mn $ annually. Minimum, ofc is 2 ideally 3. Incl increased base housing for all these guys plus support people in your costs.
Don't forget at least a thousand sonabouys yearly for training and a couple more ATR 72s, a 60 mn $ ac at 6 mn annually, with MADs, Magnetic Anomaly Detector. Its ALWAYS good to have a hi and low option for your fighting platforms. This is the high end for finding subs, the Lynx being the low option.

All prices: [/http://nationsdawnofanera.weebly.com/-maritime-patrol-aircraft.html]

The biggest risk in sub ops ISN'T just financial but geostrategic risk. You do KNOW the major sub powers are ruthless MOFOS! Jean-Fraude WON'T take kindly to local usurpers in his back yard. Expect a secret enemy sub attack or sabotage disguised as a terrible accident or poor maintenance.
It happens all the time!
You've heard of Russian sub sinkings but there are actually quite a few. Indonesia lost a German made 209 late April.

Late 2017 Argentina also lost a similar Diesel Electric Type 1700.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-46245686/url]

In 2013 the Syrians sunk an Impostor Dolphin though some say another was also lost 2 yrs later in the Med. The Israelis admitted nothing. In 1968 they lost the Dakar secretly sunk by the USN after they wilfully attacked the USS Liberty in the Red Sea during the 6 day war hoping the US would blame Egypt.

What with the ENORMOUS financial outlay and geopolitical risk in form of sabotage or secret attack forget this ISHYT!

Unless Uncle Putin for some reason likes you.

That's a once in a lifetime chance the Phil's will jump on. Imagine they've NOT even a single frigate and will need a few plus MPAs to develop sub doctrines.
Anyway, how many here still think Naij needs subs after seeing all direct, indirect costs, BH/ISWAP demands and VERY real geopolitical risks?

Told you guys about secret sub ops risks!

According to a Navy statement, a 23-year-0ld Seawolf class nuclear-powered attack submarine, USS Connecticut (SSN-22), “struck an object while submerged” on October 2. U.S. Naval Institute News reports the mishap occurred in the South China Sea, in international waters. Eleven U.S. sailors suffered minor to moderate non-life-threatening injuries. The submarine is stable and is expected to arrive in Apra Harbor, Guam within the next twenty-four hours
[https://www.forbes.com/sites/craighooper/2021/10/07/uss-connecticut-ssn-22-damaged-after-striking-an-object-in-indo-pacific-region/url]

Doesn't look too badly off. The starboard list is ONLY a couple of degrees but STILL....

While U.S. officials were quick to suggest to reporters that the U.S. submarine did not collide with another submarine, given the level of military activity in the region, any undersea collision with an unknown object is always suspect.

As of now there are US, Japanese,Philipino, Indonesian and even Indian naval forces checking the Chinese in the SCS. A reliable commentator swears the latter lost an air battle with Taiwan a couple of months ago.
All these platforms in a crowded space plus political tensions means ISHYT can go South anytime anyhow- what better way to make a point than to damage a sub with a UUV and proclaim;"who me?"
How many of you think this is coincidence? Raise your hands !

If you hear the crimes/atrocities some of the dismissed cadets commited you would justify their dismissal. It's better they're flushed out of the system now before they get commissioned and bring disgrace to the army, we can all testify to the uselessness of the NPF today it was acts of indiscipline that was left to fester in the system that brought them to this state.
FYI some cadets even go as far as raping their junior female cadets, some came in with forged credentials forget matter plenty, cadets no dey hear word.
Oga ugu all these ones na wash, anything can make a cadet get withdrawn, anything, it just depends on the CBC, if the CBC is an Indian instructor then cadets will just serve job, but if he's a proper thing he'll just be charging cadets for minor offences and later then can do dossier review and the cadet will be sent home because of the entries.

I agree sometimes it might be extreme what I don't agree is expelling cadets based on medicals/injuries sustained during duration of training and some other minor cases of indiscipline.

Lai Mohammad, made a statement that bht are moving west and bandits moving east , coming together , might be simply fleeing from government assault or forming a unison.
Anyway at the start of the attack on bandits in zamfara, I said to myself fighting the bandits in the northeast would be a waste of resources because of how large the landscape is, that it's best to push them, towards the northeast, which reduces the space they reside and the terrain becomes unfamiliar, and it becomes easier to fight both boko haram and bandits, the residual bandits and pockets that escaped the push to the northeast are starved of resources and can he easily mopped up.
Apparently it seems this is what the military is doing , as we can see the base of bandits attacks is shifting towards north east

I know people that broke their legs in academy, and were using clutches for a while, they are both officers now. I know someone that took a punch during a boxing bout to his arm, and had his bone cracked, they had to break his bones and set it back, he wasn't withdrawn from NDA, I know someone that was on break and had a car accident, and had his arm broken, he is an officer now, in fact their is still iron in the guy's arm. There are certain injuries that you have that they can't patch for you, and logically no longer fit for service.
I know people that have been withdrawn from NDA and relegated, none has ever been for a reason that wasn't needed....and most of those withdrawn that I know, was months to their p.o.p.
One of the issues with N.D.A and the tough stance now, is that the quality of cadets dropped, due to societal reasons.
Usually academy has a way of weeding out those unfit, but this way compromised for a long time.
I have once in the mess, heard a one star and another red neck officer, without a star, talk about the cadets that were stars in N.D.A pass out and become very ineffective and those that weren't really impressive in N.D.A end up performing better, which isn't logical..... apparently a lot of corruption and patching was going on in N.D.A.

sir some cadets are very stupid, nothing will be wrong with them and they'll just go to mrs and be staying there for weeks, well it was during the time of oyebade, there are some type of medical issues you'll have and they'll have to withdraw you, one of my coursemates had hole in the heart so he was withdrawn, some can break their legs and it'll take time before they recover, if it's a minor stuff you can be relegated but during my time as a cadet, if we had any serious issues we don't usually go to mrs, we'll go to town and threat ourselves because mrs started collecting reports of cadets, and if we're to go to town we do work with rsm so that he'll be helping us whenever we miss parade because of the medical issues.

Anything fit make them withdraw cadets , forget all these regular stuffs, the best is through ssc or dssc, at least your training is 9 months, you can still manage

nda na patching na, there's one of my female coursemates like that, he uncle was a captain in mrs, he was just telling her that anytime she needs confinement she should just tell him, this cadet was always at mrs seeing peace, throughout clownship and 2 bars she didn't suffer at all.

There are some issues you'll have in nda and you'll be withdrawn but you'll see others with the same issues and they'll give them dashaway, it's all about who you know there

Some of these soldiers can be overzealous.... one of them has slapped a friend of mine before in calabar, soldier slap officer....though he was in mufti and not in the army, when e gave me the gist I just laughed, because I know this particular officer to be stubborn, but he couldn't do anything other than to report the incident to the army, they were now begging him not to escalate the issue, that they would handle it in house. Me I was teasing him, when people dey go NDA you choose university.... when you would have sharperly called your course mate in the army, and start to ty job to the soldier.
Sadly these things happen, even in the military, I have seen a sentry cocked his rifle at man at the gate, with wife and kids in the car, and demanding to see the man's ID card, the man was just sparking at the long run he tendered his id card.
Even myself I have had my own encounter, a certain part of festac town was blocked off, with military checkpoint set up, which I wasn't aware of, I was speeding only to see tyres ....next thing 2 soldiers flanked me, I just ignored the private that was raising his voice and call the lance corporal by his rank, and asked him how is the job going and if they are seeing peace, the both of them calmed down immediately and explained the check point to me, I apologised and follow another route.

Dude, this is important and RELEVANT! I read the excellent Hundeyin expose and it's OBVIOUS that political Islam birthed this F'ERY over generations. They've planned, strategised and funded for years! As a result we are now WHERE we're at. Fyi, in Kenya Somali imams openly challenge young xalimo to have at LEAST 3 kids by 21. People have told me they will soon outnumber Kikuyus!
Guys in their 40s have 4 wives and 20 kids. This ISN'T BS- I personally know 3 such Somalis. I never made much of this til a couple of yrs ago reading here and observations in Kenya and regionally.
You want us to continue posting Hiluxes, Tavors and those "CION OPS" (sic) pix? Srsly!?

In April 2021, an insurgent named Mallam Sadiqu set up an empire in the local sprawl of Shiroro, Niger State. As a Boko Haram jihadist, he took control of political and social life in about 25 communities.

Sadiqu started his infiltration of the communities like a ‘gentle man of God’ before professing himself as a Boko Haram commander spreading Islamic extremism, which coincides with the Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād’s school of thought.

He would later declare himself a “constituted authority” and threaten to ‘waste’ anyone who refused to swallow his decisions or tried to expose him to the government.

He set up a cabinet for his Islamic government and read publicly the rules and regulations, rewards and penalties for certain acts, emphasising his mission to fight the government and take over the state.

“He told them that he was not harmful to the general public because he was a Boko Haram [insurgent],” a source familiar with Sadiqu’s system of government told FIJ. “He said he was not fighting the masses but the government. He said everybody should settle down to live their normal lives. But they would have protocols.”

After declaring himself an authority, he recruited ruthless young people who had taken part in rural banditry and cattle theft, overpowering Dogo Gide, a feared bandit leader in Shiroro. He empowered his recruits with swords, powerbikes, AK47s and Rocket-Propelled Grenades (RPGs).

He then ruled communities like Kaure, Kusasu, Pai, Chukuba, Kwaki, Kurebe, Iburo, Kushaka, Kushaku, Biko, Alaita, Dnasepa, Kokokki, Nakundna, Afapi, Kampani, Kudumidna, Sakko, Ajatayi, Lukupe, Badna, Alai Kwaki, Bududna and Maimalufa.

“If you have a female child of 12 years, you have to marry her out,” Sadiqu was quoted to have ordered residents of these communities.

How did a ‘gentle man of God’ turn out to be the most dreaded terrorist and rebel threatening the Government of Niger State?

FROM KAURE TO KUREBE

Stories of murders, abductions and human rights violations dominate the communities controlled by Sadiqu and his loyalists. On April 27, Abubakar Bello, the Niger State Governor, confirmed the hoisting of the Boko Haram flag in Kaure, Sadiqu’s headquarters in Shiroro.

The governor revealed how the terrorist took the women of some residents and gave them to his boys.

“I am confirming that there are Boko Haram elements here in Niger State,” he said. “Here in Kaure, I am confirming that they have hoisted their flags. Their wives have been seized from them and forcefully attached to Boko Haram members.

“I just heard that they have placed their flags at Kaure, meaning they have taken over the territory. This is what I have been engaging the Federal Government on. Unfortunately, it has now got to this level. If care is not taken, even Abuja is not safe.”

Following the governor’s public outcry, a contingent of soldiers stormed Kaure community to dislodge Sadiqu and his fighters.

“Unfortunately, it was just a military operation to dislodge the terrorists. A military base was not established in the community,” a source told FIJ. “So, after everything, the terrorists reconvened in Kurebe, a nearby village, and established another Boko Haram headquarters in Shiroro.”

STARTED AS A MISSIONARY, NOW AN INSURGENT

According to multiple accounts of locals in the communities, Sadiqu started by preaching to residents in the Lakma axis, especially in the Kaure area. He enjoined them to embrace Islamic jurisprudence and “fear Allah”.

“At a point, he was going around as a missionary and people were even getting to believe him,” said a youth leader in one of the communities. “It was later that he started using force. So, his boys started carrying guns.”

KNOWN BUT FACELESS

Almost everybody in the 25 communities controlled by Sadiqu knows him but “nobody dares obtain his picture or describe how he looks to an alien in the area”.

Residents who confided in FIJ said Sadiqu is considered a sacred human whose face or physical appearance must not be in the public domain. Moreover, taking or displaying pictures is forbidden in the terrorist’s territories.

“He has made himself the constituted authority so much that if you have a case to settle, you go to him instead of going to the court or the police,” one of the locals said. “Even if you’re coming to his vicinity, you cannot come with a phone or a camera because his boys will search you from checkpoint to checkpoint. Nobody has any image of Mallam Sadiqu at the moment.”

“Anyone seen taking pictures in his territory could be killed,” another local added. “It is seen as a dangerous offence here.”

TEARS OF A PEOPLE

Residents under Sadiqu’s control are grieving but they dare not shed tears. An attempt to report Sadiqu’s atrocities attracts severe punishment. Anyone who tries it could be stoned to death, according to multiple accounts of locals.

“You can imagine telling uneducated people how the government has abandoned them and how they (the terrorists) are there to fight the government for them. They are brainwashing the people and that is a danger,” a concerned Shiroro youth told FIJ.

“We only hope the government can take back these communities from this dangerous man.”

The Niger State Government is aware of the presence of Sadiqu and his men. But the governor said he is helpless.

Suleiman Chukuba, Chairman of Shiroro Local Government, confirmed the influx of Boko Haram elements, saying, “Only four wards have been affected.”

He said the residents know from their mode of preaching that they are Boko Haram elements.

“They told villagers that they had money to help them and that they had guns to give them to fight the government. And that is the same doctrine we know Boko Haram elements promote,” he said.

Usually academy has a way of weeding out those unfit, but this way compromised for a long time.
I have once in the mess, heard a one star and another red neck officer, without a star, talk about the cadets that were stars in N.D.A pass out and become very ineffective and those that weren't really impressive in N.D.A end up performing better, which isn't logical..... apparently a lot of corruption and patching was going on in N.D.A.
heavy lies

the next war will be cause by media . They is no bh in niger state but a group with strange preaching . an air recon was done over this state for about 3week no bh was pick by recon. member of the guard briage was sent to dislogde and arrest them media never reported this. But the perimeter of abuja must be secure directive from the president
I watched The governor of Niger state say it himself on national TV that Bokoharam are fully in charge in some local government, also saw videos of displaced villagers on national TV give a first hand report of what is on ground. Do you want to tell us these villagers don't know what they're saying or do you have more information than the Chief security officer of the state (Governor)? Stop blaming the media for doing their job. If you want I can post the chat between me and an officer that was moved to Niger state to fight these terrorists these guys are no random group of strange preachers as you alluded to.
This is not how to do the loyalty/patriotism thing, you're sounding like a propagandist & this is the least thing we ought to do at this point in time. We need to tell ourselves the truth and proffer actionable solutions to the challenge.

Governors that may be synonymous to drama queens and motives could be to get higher allocation of funds for security, I generally distrust politicians ...as for the local they wouldn't know the difference especially if the criminals in the locality pass themselves off as BH to command a higher degree of respect(fear)...
They could be just another group of terrorist hiding underneath Islamic teachings...and having no link with BH.

Did the military release any statement about this operation you're talking about?

Lol

If the many media or the civilians in Niger state refuse to report the news, why have the Nigerian military refuse to give us an update about the news too?

When soldiers shot at armless protesters in Lekki, the Nigerian army denied their men were there even with video evidence.
