It was reported that the terrorists attacked with 4 MRAPs and 10 guntrucks. They initially disguised as an NA fighting patrol, shot at the CO of the base who went to meet them but missed, his adjutant was shot though before the situation was turned around. The terrorists escaped with the MRAPs though. The airforce should make it high priority to search for and destroy those guntrucks else, they will be used against another base qbd and it might be catastrophic this time around.
oga some guntruck was capture nigeria airforce destroy some mrap . Intel from brono. They were latter ambush with air support picture will be online soon

The fact that they were able to gain entry into the base is truly embarrassing. Will Nigeria Army ever learn from her mistakes?!

Again you are making much of the name "Base". May be it connotes maximum security, fortified city to you but the truth is there is no money and there has been no time to make such fortifications. Maybe some of them are poorly located and not making the right use of natural defensive landscapes and the Army should look into that.

Agreed there should be spotters and snipers watching and a protocol to follow to approach a 'base'.

There are many bases that were over ran through this method. It’s not knew in the Northeast.

The Nigeria Army needs to improve on its communication system amongst troops in different locations.

A week ago BH killed some soldiers in a checkpoint here. The Soldiers felt they were Soldiers from another Battalion. The wounded were later taken to Maiduguri with military Helicopter.

It’s saddening how BH have discovered this loophole and are using it till date.

How where they able to get close to a CO of the Battalion?

This story usually differs from what we usually hear about here in the field. These guys mostly attack and go back freely.

We need to do something ASAP.

Some cadets went to make trouble in KASU yesterday during matric because of a girl, if not for God they would have been lynched to death the vehicle they came in with was destroyed. I just hope the news dosent get to Aca cos them fit allow them reach final year before expelling them. One would have thought that with the security issues in kaduna cadets will lie low for their own safety but some of them still go AWOL despite knowing the consequences of their action.(No be juju be that?)

but it depends on the unit attack if you cannot defeat them you should not make an attempt to pursue rather you sent signal to nearby formation to be on red alert. Or you call airsupport to track and strike iswap are smart they rather withdraw through bush part.any troop sent without the situation awareness of the terriost may make a dangerous situation especially ambush.

even with communication if the vehicle and system is being hijacked they can use it to confuse the solider . Will lost five sf to yesterday attack. Intel report that major attack by iswap may happen before Sunday. Uncle Sam just stay safe. Pls. The co officer of the battlion was shot. My advice to the military as they move troop and equipment this October they should have situation awareness. Dikwa , damsak, kukba marte and damboa should tight there defence perimeter from now. Flash road should be barricade for now. Air surveillance should be more at this period.. new weapon delivery to some military unit with air support.

It's for this same rouse that bht is using to attack soldiers, I'm worried about the surrendered terrorists, recently a location was attacked housing surrendered bht.
Bht seems to understand that attacking within leading to close quarters battle, would be very disastrous. Those surrendered bht, might just be waiting for the right time to attack from within.

those of the surrender bh are kept under ground cell it is only their family that are being kept within the base. The true is situation have being calm since but the terriost are desperate for victory. They have no large ammo and equipment to withstand the next month offensive from the military . They are attacking military formation with large ammo. On Wednesday last week ammo and equipment was supply to super camp1 to share to it reinforcement unit and fob that was the Major mind behind the attack . Even on Saturday they was a failed ambush on logistics and ammo movement from this same base but averted. By the troop. Even yesterday the troop move with ammo from this same base to somewhere around beisken and damaturu with air support. They next target is damboa marte dikwa damsak and kukuba . Those unit should reinforcement the perimeter defence. Fob operation base should make tactical withdraw with there equipment from a base of they cannot repelled any attack. Because they will come like swarm on the troop.

Especially when you consider that it is SFs that will lead the attack for the offensive, it would be wise of the terrorists to attempt to distabilize the SF battalions so as to delay and weaken the offensive.

The leader of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) jihadist group, Abu Musab al-Barnawi, is dead, Nigeria's top military commander said on Thursday.

ISWAP has not given any confirmation of al-Barnawi's death and Nigeria's army has claimed before to have killed jihadist commanders only for them to reappear.

"I can authoritatively confirm to you that al-Barnawi is dead. As simple as that. He is dead and remains dead," Chief of Defence Staff General Lucky Irabor told reporters.

He did not give details on how or when al-Barnawi had died.

Under al-Barnawi, ISWAP became the dominant jihadist force in Nigeria's conflict, striking frequently at troops in an insurgency that has killed more than 40,000 since it begun in 2009.

Al-Barnawi's loss would be blow to ISWAP's structure just as it was consolidating since the death of rival Boko Haram commander Abubakar Shekau earlier this year during infighting between the factions.

But since splitting with Boko Haram in 2016, the group has shown its resilience and carried out large-scale ambushes on the military just in the last several weeks.

"Should al-Barnawi be dead, his death may not have too much impact on ISWAP because of how structured the group is," said Malik Samuel, a researcher with the Institute for Security Studies.

"Since the 2016 split, ISWAP has had about five leadership changes but the group has maintained its consistency in launching deadly and successful attacks against security forces."

- Son of jihadist leader -

Al-Barnawi is the son of the founder of the Boko Haram militant group, Mohammed Yusuf, who was killed in police custody in 2009 in Maiduguri.

But the ISWAP commander rose to prominence after breaking away from Boko Haram over differences with its commander Shekau, who according to security sources killed himself in May rather than face capture by his rivals.

Since Shekau's death, security sources say, al-Barnawi had consolidated ISWAP's control in Nigeria's northeast and the Lake Chad region but pockets of Boko Haram loyalists have been fighting back.

Last month, ISWAP fighters killed 18 Nigeria security personal in an ambush in northeast Borno state using roadside bombs and rockets in one of the deadliest assaults this year.

A week later another eight soldiers were killed when ISWAP militants opened fire with rockets on another convoy also in Borno.

But Boko Haram jihadists also launched an attack last month on ISWAP militants on the Nigerian side of Lake Chad, ISWAP's bastion, seizing a strategic island, according to fishermen and a security source.

Since Shekau's death in his Sambisa forest enclave, ISWAP has been fighting Boko Haram remnants who have refused to pay allegiance.

Hundreds of Boko Haram members have also since surrendered to the army along with families and children.

More than two million people have been displaced by Nigeria's conflict since it began 2009, and the violence has spread over the borders to Niger, Chad

Many Soldiers Feared Killed During Gun Duel As Bandits Abduct Motorists In Zamfara

Some soldiers were feared killed on Wednesday while trying to repel an attack by bandits on travellers in Zamfara State.

The incident happened on a road leading to Gusau between Kucheri and Wanzamai in the Tsafe Local Government Area of the state.

Witnesses told Premium Times that many motorists were also abducted by the bandits.

A lecturer at the Federal University Gusau, Maryam Gatawa, who narrowly escaped abduction during the incident, said the attack lasted for more than 30 minutes.

“They had just finished abducting people when our vehicle arrived. I saw people in the villages running from their homes to safety,” Mrs Gatawa said.

She added that some soldiers were killed while trying to repel the attack.

The bandits reportedly abducted many motorists and whisked away guns and ammunition belonging to soldiers.

Another resident, identified as Abubakar Bala Tsafe, also confirmed the attack to journalists.

He said, “I heard that they blocked the Wanzamai – Kucheri Road and killed soldiers. The attack took place around 2:45 pm and they (bandits) were said to have closed the road to ensure that security personnel did not come to the rescue of the motorists or villagers being attacked."

A motorist said “around 2-3 pm this afternoon, on my way from Abuja to Gusau, immediately after Yankara in Katsina, we met a closed road being manned by some security personnel. We later found out that there was an attack on soldiers on the road by bandits who were said to be operating on the road.”

He noted further that he helped police officers to evacuate the corpses of the soldiers.

The state police spokesperson, Mohammed Shehu did not respond to calls and SMS sent to him to get his comment on the attack.

Zamfara a North-west state, is one of the states currently under constant attacks by bandits.

Security measures including a shutdown of mobile phone services and curfew have been taken by the government to curb insecurity in the area.

How about naval dockyard limited look into building ships/boats for the civilian market for capacity building. Maybe bring in a few investors, upgrade facilities and equipments etc with the long term goal being to increase capacity to a level where they can roll out the likes of SDB 3 and larger ships within 4-5 months. SDB 3 took a long time and going this route could really help.
