Hello esteemed Nairalanders,

My younger sister just completed her NYSC. She was able to save up to N200,000.00 during her service year. She has the intension to go into business, but not certain of the kind of business to go into. She consulted me as her elder bother and told me about her intension. She had only N200,000 which will not be enough. I was impressed by her conduct and idea. I decided to help her with N1,000,000.00 (1m) in addition to the N200,000.00 making it total of 1.2m naira currently in her possession.

However, she does not know the exact business to start with the N1.2m. Hence, I decide to seek business ideas and suggestions here on Nairaland to help my sister startup a lucrative business with that little capital.

What kind of business can she start with the N1.2m?

Thanks!
tell her to invest in cryptocurrency, it doesn't require alot of knowledge, so long you can operate a smartphone.. Tell her contact nexold Trading, they provide free trading courses so long you buy coins from them.. There's an impending bull run right now (huge gains) I'm sure they can recommend alternative coins to invest in...

Note: trading and investing are two different ways of making money in cryptocurrency. While one is faster and riskier the other is safer and slower with better gains..

My advice, if you live in Lagos you can venture in Uber/bolt business. Find a car that worth 1.5m . Borrow 300k with 1.2m. Start your business with that. You would realize at the end of the day. The business is very lucrative

Good day, I must appreciate you for your kind gesture toward your sister. Where she is currently will determine what she can do with the money. If you guys live in an estate and she want to start the business there, let her open a store: biscuits, bread, drinks, juice, palm oil, etc, her sales will be prompt but she must know how to keep records. Also she can go into "Lush" attachment business but this won't flourish in an estate. The area where the business will be situated is highly important.

Bros I don't know if you will listen to me oo..One of the best business I believe she can do is start exporting some items from Nigeria to Ghana.. Many things are in Nigeria but they are not here in Ghana..If she can be bringing them here in Ghana she will make a lot of money within 1year..
She does not need to spend that whole money.300k is enough

Business is not as easy as some of us think. You are really a good brother to her, however find out what she has passion for!!! Its very sacrosanct. If from your question she does not have any particular passion for any business then let her use her money and secure government job in her state. In alternate trade forex at least with good mentor she can turn that 1m to 2m in at worst 5month. All she need is just a secret of trading. For me I make 3-4% of my capital every working day. Good luck.

Believe me once you know what you are doing, nothing can ever stop you from killing it

dont mind those people, what you don't understand kills you.. There's nothing like luck in cryptocurrency.. You learn the fundamentals and make good decisions.. Even a dumb person who understands demand and supply and invest in cryptocurrency, do nothing for months, or years and become millionaires in cryptocurrency.

It's the simplest way to make money right now online, so far you have the patience required

My own advise would be..

Since she is a lady, she can go into selling of Human hair (That business go dey boom anywhere anytime grin)
Beauty product too.
Buy & Selling of raw Foodstuff.

But if she still has time in her hands, she can lead how to make hair along with it but it all balls down to what interest her though.

What did she study in school? She should do something in line with what it was she studied. Eg. If she studied fashion design, she can open boutique/tailor shop. If she studied agriculture she could start a small scale poultry/fish farm. If she studied computer she can go into computer parts sales etc

I will suggest catering too, alot of females are making it in that aspect.

my friend wife is a caterer and she started around 2017 or thereabouts, presently she owns 3 nice car, built 2 beautiful bungalows and also employed alot of workers in both Abuja and Lagos.

there's nothing that's impossible.

I think you should have waited for her to start little business with the 200k, monitor her progress before helping her with money to build her up. Anyway, you should stand by her and ensure she is well established.

For this buhari regime you can still help with 1m. Na real man you be.

My advice is she should keep the money and learn saloon and beauty makeup handwork. In a year time she can establish with the money in a standard way that will be different from local ones since she have the capital

Salon business nor be here o, you're to learn how to do everything yourself if not lack of workers alone fit make you close shop. And you must be present everyday if not the workers you manage get go run you aground

I think there are quite a number of business she can venture into with that amount of money. But some of my top choices are:

1. Bet9ja office in a busy area
2. Start a fish pond
3. Start a laundry service

The cost of setting up the above businesses are quite low, the risk is also low as well. Just tell her to make her research
None of them fits.
If its the guy, then yes.
