See goal wha Asisat Oshoala da miss...
Anyway superb run from Vivian Ikechukwu who delivered a great ball to Oshoala but her header was just too poor to miss an open net.

It seems she has now become so big that she can't be substituted by coaches. Even Ahmed Musa as captain is substituted when he plays poorly for Nigeria for God sake. Why do we worship personalities in this nation?

....to be honest, i think she needs a reset, we need a strong coach that will bench you, if you do not deliver, if we have such a coach, she will have no choice but to sit up, if you know that, with your coach, you are as good as your last game and not playing you, based on profile. You will have no choice, than to sit up,but if you are sure of a jersey..even if you do not deliver....then i can just be lackadaisical all day long...

Na only Florence Omagbemi i legit know say she da bench anybody wha loseguard..

I remembered how she used to Shout at Onome Ebi, Faith Ikidi from the sideline if they're caught out of positions... 2016 AWCON i can't forget...

I think she's the only bold enough Coach that doesn't give a Bleep...

The last time Oshoala scored for Nigeria was at the last world cup in France if I can still remember. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

....Thats the type of coach we need, we are too talented as a nation, to depend on players when they have off days or are out of form, there is a always another player waiting for her opportunity, so if you are not performing to the level expected, i will have to give others the opportunity to show me what they can do, we might just be on to another wonderful player.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by GeneralDae: 6:13pm On Oct 20, 2021
We still need to do something about that midfield.

Oshoola was terrible like she's been the last few games. Like many others opined we need a coach with the balls to bench her. The sad thing though is that we have numerous alternatives he could have invited to the team. The DUO or Rosa Ariyo and Ifeoma Onumonu are better alternatives in my opinion. Seen a few of their games and they are not wasteful strikers.

The middle is also very lacking. We lost possession for the most part of the second half. If we had played a young and vibrant team like south Africa, they would definitely have punished us today.

is this what you could come up with? Kindly tell me when was the last time she scored in GWG. Messi and Ronaldo won’t be where they’re today if they’re being shitty. I blame her not but the coach who makes her feel untouchable if not this rubbish wouldn’t be happening. There are better players out there who are ready to grab the opportunity. Call spade a spade Oshoala has been shitty in GWG.

Can u compare the supporting cast she has to that of messi and Ronaldo? Even her mere presence makes more impact than most players. The question u should be asking is why the team has not been performing and that should be directed at the coach. We all know what Super Zee has to offer

I pray that this shit does not happen again. Like what we saw in the male Olympics football. South Africa jus go embarrass us undecided. They could not get past the group stage

Because she captained them for years, they are her girls. She was the last true captain. If not for Naija politics she ought to have become the coach

You mean Zambia not South Africa. Actually no African team has ever gotten past the group stage of the Olympics except the superfalcons in 2004 in their second appearance. Zambia has even done better than most African teams that have ever played at the Olympics by scoring a record seven goals in just one Olympic tournament. This is to tell you how poor African women football has been on the world stage ( Nigerian superfalcons not excluded).

As for the qualifiers, we lost to Ivorycoast then, who lost to Cameroon, who lost to Zambia. Zambia deserved to qualify then. Superfalcons have just been poor when it comes to the home and away qualifiers and partly in our style of play for some years now.

Didn't watch the game, but it looks like it was a hard-fought win for the SF. The goals should bolster Uchenna Kanu's confidence ahead of the second leg on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Super Falcons will likely face Cote D' Ivoire in the next qualifying round in February...

CAF are very stupid for this draw they made,They want new teams to qualify for the Awcon, But they will be embarrassed when African teams play at 2023 FIFA women world cup.How can they pit Women heavyweight against each other in the first round of qualifiers.

No, no!! Corona had nothing to do with it... That format was initially adopted for the male age grade teams... Then they extended it to the women senior team..
Ahmad Ahmad introduced that format in the name of giving other zones a chance of qualifying for CAF tournaments...I guess they were tired of West African teams dominating...
My anger is that the WAFU Bloc supported that arrangement and let it extend to the women's game...

It makes no sense for two heavyweights like Nigeria and Ghana to face each other in a qualification tournament like this...

2022 WAFCON Qualifiers: Waldrum Hails Hard Fighting Super Falcons After Win Against Ghana
completesports.com Oct 20, 2021 8:13 PM

Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum has praised his players for fighting really hard to overcome rivals Black Queens of Ghana, in Wednesday’s 2022 WAFCON first round qualifier.

Played inside the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos, the Falcons defeated Ghana 2-0, to kick off the qualifiers on a positive note.

Uchenna Kanu was the hero for the nine-time African champions as she got both goals which were headers, to secure the win.

And speaking in his post-match analysis Waldrum said:’We are extremely excited about the win. Obviously it’s important to get a win at home I think getting a clean sheet too was very important for us to go into the second leg.

“The first half we came out with a good attacking mentally second half we played a little bit more on the counter but they were chasing the game and we had some tired legs in the end.

“The players fought really hard, I thought Chiamaka came up with a big time save to keep a clean sheet which was very important for us. We all understand this is just half of the job.”

The American coach explained the difference between the Falcons team that beat Ghana and the one that lost to South Africa at the Aisha Buhari Cup.

“The difference when you compare this team to the one that lost to South Africa is that we didn’t have Osinachi Ohale, Rasheedat Ajibade, Tony Payne.

“These players are key for us and they made a huge difference for us. And I thought Onome and the other defenders did a great job for us with our goalkeeper as well.”

And ahead of the reverse fixture in Ghana on Sunday:”The staff will get back tonight and we would have some conversation and discuss how we want to approach the second leg.

“We all know that when you do home and away it’s important to keep a clean sheet at home. But it’s also important to score a goal in the second leg because the away goal really count for you. So we will have to find a balance of making sure we are attacking but also protecting the two-goal lead that we have.”

Eucharia Uche also had same reputation. Maybe not as vocal but she also did very well with the team. Sadly NFF couldn't wait to boot her out
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by naptu2:
Small nations often pull out of CAF and FIFA qualifying tournaments because they can't afford the expense.

naptu2:
The perennial African football problem. My dad talked about this problem in the 1980s. Chief Abiola talked about it in that 1992 interview with Segun Odegbami. How are we going to solve this problem?

You see, some people advocate that countries should only play qualifiers within their region, in order to reduce the expense that they incur. For example, Nigeria should only play qualifiers against teams in West Africa, Cameroon should only play qualifiers against teams in Central Africa, etc. This will ensure that teams do not have to travel long distances and it would help to conserve funds (African teams are not the richest of teams).

However, this raises a big problem. There are some regions that are packed full of African football powerhouses and scheduling qualifiers in this way will mean that those powerhouses are eliminated early. Furthermore, there are some regions that are packed full of minnows and this kind of scheduling will ensure that the minnows go through and it would reduce the quality of the competition and ensure that Africa presents weak representatives at major international tournaments.

This is the draw for the African Women Cup of Nations that were concluded this afternoon. Look at the teams in WAFU B and see how strong they are (Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast) and then look at the teams in WAFU A or UNAF and look at how weak they are.
