Honda front wheel tearing on the road breaks the heart of every drivers and lovers. Today, 28/09/21, seeing a 2007 Accord (picture attached) with broken joints falsified my belief that it happens among the 2005 and earlier models. Earlier this year, I sold my 2008 Honda CRV out of the fear that tie rod/ball joints/suspension may fall off while driving. I miss the car and plan importing another but want to know more on how to avoid wheel failure/break off. You should follow this thread if you drive a Honda and/or would choose a Honda over Toyota for their better handling, sound system, AC, and stylish interior like myself as I hope to learn from Honda(Car) gurus and experienced users on the signs to observe and routines to follow so as to avoid this disgraceful issue with Honda Cars.

From what I read today, Honda wheel breaking may result from bad ball joints, tie rod ends/socket, upper arm and shaft. How to avoid it is have mechanic check the above listed parts when you go for alignment (bi-monthly) and wheel balancing (quarterly)

Honestly, yesterday was the first time I saw a 2007 Accord with ball joint issue. I haven’t seen it happen on Ridgeline (truck) or CRV/Pilot neither.

Kinematics:
Had a 2004 Honda accord back in 2014. That car almost killed me on Abacha Road, GRA, Port Harcourt.
Ball joint issue. Yes I've seen many will say buy original parts blah blah blah, even with the original part you'll still have the fear of ball joint pulling off suddenly on the high way, hence people avoid Honda cars besides the civics.

Though I'm yet to see a CRV 2007 and above, An accord 2013 and above with ball joint issue. The reason why those are not so popular like Toyota or even say Hyundai is simply because people already have the fear of ball joint in Hondas here in Nigeria.
Also the Accord 2013 and above expensive shaaa...

It is the double-wishbone setup of the suspension. Ironically it is better cos it gives unparalled stability, however, due to more moving parts coupled with terrible roads, some of those moving parts wear out. I have had a Honda for 8years and it only pulled shortly after I bought it. Since then, when I hear funny noise in the front, I take it in for a look by mecho. Since then there hasn't been such an occurrence, and I could go a year or more even without changing a ball joint. Most of the cases you see happens cos the driver ignored the warning signs.

Alternative is to go for those that don't have doublewishbone setup, like the newer models, or any Honda civic. Honda Civic for example have MacPherson struts, like most cars eg Toyota. So they don't pull anyhow. I have a 2010 Toks Civic on my profile o, in case anyone reading is looking to get one.

Secondly, 99% of the cases is with a double wishbone suspension which makes the ball joint bear the entire front end weight of the car on the 2 front ball joints. This the ball joint a critical part that would wear out fast or will depend on the quality of the ball joint itself. There are also cases of thread wear without cotter pin protection.

Honda front wheels needs more attention than toyota.if you hear funny noise.check it out,inspect it,and if you dey fear say e go pull,that means e go pull,but I rather change ball joints than constantly change shocks in Toyota cars.i started with a honda ,so when I drive people's toyota it feels soulless, unlike stable and sturdy honda shocks.That is when i know that people who start with German cars esp benz find it hard to use Toyota or honda.
