I was in Kano when Kwankwaso was invited and I heard it on the news. The issue in Nigeria is tribalism. And it's largely promoted on this Internet. Today I'm in pH, and allot of people said the same thing I've been singing.. if he is clean, no shaking. But a situation when we decide to make this a tribal issue. You guys should quit thinking that, these googled definition of meaning of money laundering is the only Act that constitutes money laundering.

Reading the allegations, I did not see the ‘illegal act’ mentioned, otherwise he will be alleged to have committed 1. The illegal Act & 2. Money laundering.

Read up Nigeria Money Laundering Act of 2011. You can be charged with money laundering if:

1. You make cash transaction of more than N5m.
2. You transport excess of $10k across Nigeria border without declarations.
3. You open anonymous or numbered Bank Account or Cause someone to Open an account with their information and intended for your use.
4. You submit fake info to 9jabet or any gambling place, your winnings are considered to have been laundered.
5. You aid or abet in any of the above.

As you can see, the source of the money in the above scenarios needs not be illegal or criminal but these acts are considered money laundering under the Nigeria criminal code.

So, it is naive and ignorant to assume that for one to be arrested for money laundering, the source of the money must be illegal or obtained through crime.

More so, criminal codes and definition of what constitutes money laundering changes from country to country, the above is case of Nigeria.

The 2011 Money Laundering can be readily found online, look for it and be guided.
