LONG POST ALERT!

Hey guys! I got my PPR on the 6th and while I can’t remember my whole time line and all the documents I submitted, I want to tell you my story and hopefully it inspires somebody out there.

I am self employed so I always knew applying as a self sponsored candidate was going to be tricky but I didn’t want to give up on this dream I had. I’ve been following this forum since 2014 when I didn’t even have money to pay for my visa fee talkless of applying for a study permit but I read and kept checking till I could finally afford to in 2017. I put together my first application which was really flimsy and After 3 months I got rejected for mainly financial reasons. I paid my whole tuition but had only N3m left in my account for feeding and accommodation. That was when I learn that as a self sponsored applicant you should have more than you first year living expenses and tuition. While this isn’t a rule, it’s a safe bet.

Anyway business got busy so I decided to use an agent for my next application which was in 2020, mind you I started planning my application in 2019. I got rejected again but this time the reasons didn’t seem to make sense. I submitted my application and paid for my 1st semester tuition and also had N17m in my invested account which was created specifically for my tuition. They said I was going to exhaust my savings and I also didn’t have enough money to take care of my family that will be traveling with me, meanwhile I never said my family would travel with me in my application. My agent thought the response was just really generic and that we should apply for my notes and then do a judicial review if I could afford it.

I thought about my options and decided to go with the judicial review late last year. We got a lawyer and I think I paid about $4000 CAD. The lawyer started the process and in January of this year my agent reached out to me to say they are asking for a settlement and that was what we wanted. They said they would reopen my portal and I should reapply. Meanwhile at this point I had spent a lot of the money I kept aside for school. I managed to raise the money back and reapplied again with the same exact documents but this time I wrote another SOP, explained why I had some lump sums in my account, the lawyer wrote to them and the agent too wrote on my behalf. I submitted my application on the last day of the one month period I had which was April 4th and then the wait began.

I thought I would get a response asap because it was a judicial review but months came and went without a single word from IRCC. My school was resuming in September so I did my upfront medical in august but it was just updated to passed and nothing else. In September I deferred my admission to next year sept since the course I intend to do which is film making only starts in September. After I deferred I went to write IELTs in preparation for my next application because I just felt like my application would be rejected again and I’ll have to reapply so I started putting things in place and also started raising more money in my account for the next one.
Moving forward I stopped asking my agent for updates and just moved on with life. I even forget I put in an application for a Canadian visa and started considering the Uk. The few times I also thought about my application I wanted to tell my agent to withdraw it so I can work on another one for some new schools I just applied to. On the 6th of this month I got a call from my agent in Canada saying my PPR just came through. I didn’t even know how to feel, I’m excited but I’m also overwhelmed.

I know this is a long post but it’s just to inspire somebody out there. I am 32, I’m self employed and self sponsored, I only have my WAEC certificate as I did not attend a university and I have applied 3 times to Canada which has been my dream since 2014. I finally got my PPR and I want you to know that if I could do it, you can do it too. I’ll try to share my documents I submitted soon.

Please feel free to ask me any questions.

Congratulations to you, please what the name of the school you applied, I know someone that has WAEC but is afraid to apply because he finished secondary school since 2009.

Send MBS ONLY if the fund is still intact.
Don’t shoot yourself in the leg.

this is wrong info bros.u can choose any range of time to send MBS.MBS is like normal statement of account and you can choose the duration, time and range.the only difference between MBS and ur normal statement is that the bank sends it directly to the embassy as u have instructed and u as the customer must have filled the time, duration and range of the statement to be sent.after the bank sends the statement, they will send a ticket ID and password to ur Email Adress. u r to send this ticket no and ID through webform or upload it in ur GCKEY or send through mail depending on ur situation. Good evening everyone,my study permit was recently delayed infact the mail drop just few hours to my Birthday.. I cried like a baby it was my worst birthday ever. I have ordered for my gcms note and also defer my admission to may intake.Everything I know and submitted the idea came from this page, and I was so rest assured that I gave it my all to the Best of my ability. I guess the whole delay came from the fact that I use third person sponsorship...my aunt.

Sorry about the delay. Did show proof of relationship with your aunt? How will you access the fund from her incase of emergency?? Those are the things the VOs consider, your sponsor might wanna send your 1 year upkeep money to your account to show seriousness and accessibility.

I do not agree with you. One of the reasons we are being treated this way is that we do not fight enough, we always leave everything for God when it comes to Visa officers. Have you ever imagined why the Indians are treated a lot better than Nigerians? they fight a lot better and harder than us.

Most of us keep quiet and when there is approval, we then jump out to start saying " the grace of God". Most times when people fight these officers with all legal available tools, they do not do it for themselves alone but for others coming behind.

We are too self centred in this part of the world. Everything is about me, and me alone. We should change this approach.
what are you fighting for if the V.O feels he followed the rules.look it s God's grace.Only very few applications are 90%.most of us had red flags that we knew and was just praying for the V.O to overlook. Most Nigerians dont also intend coming back after schooling and so we try to hide it and justify y we shud or will come back.also falsification of documents is very high in Nigeria. all this gift deeds and affidavits of return we are getting, does the Nigerian Government hold u responsible if u dont come back?.After all u swore an affidavits in a competent court of law that u would come back after ur studies but how many usually come back?.Every thing is grace and dont think they dont reject Indians oo..I belong to a watsapp group for my school that is filled with Indians and they share lots of information there but guess what?.our Admin was refused. Also remember we are no 3 or 4 in highest terrorist nations of the world which has lead to humanitarian crises in the north. They know most Nigerians want to Japa.

Yes I did. I even backed it up with pictures has proof.it a one year program tuition fee 17k I paid 10k submitted 26m pof.
Although I did not submit my personal statement of account because there wasn't much fund. My Dad was my co-sponsor although I only submitted his pension documents because he doesn't have much fund in his account.
I guess all this contributed to me being delayed.

my dear though u need to see ur GCMS note but even I can highlight what must have been the reason.when u r using a 3rd party sponsor and going for a one year course, the best bet is to pay ur full school fees.let the sponsor demonstrate willingness and commitment by paying th full tuition fee.also try to get some money in ur account through ur sponsor. some ppl have gotten PPR without sending their personal account statement but they are very very few.how can ur sponsor have 26m POF and not send some to u for living expenses and flight ticket or other miscellaneous. note since its 3rd party, the burden of POF increases and the sponsor has to demonstrate commitment to the sponsorship. also u have to give reasons y this particular Aunty will want to sponsor u.also if ur Dad does not have enough POF ,he should just send the few he has to ur account. there is no need of adding ur dad as Co sponsor if he is not having enough funds. He can be part of ur tie.

Hello Jay,
I also want to point out something as regards MBS.. you are correct that the applicant can choose the duration they want to send and that is what the embassy will access them on. When IRCC sends you a request for MBS, they would usually state they want 1 year of banking history right? So it means i) they actually want to see a long banking history without compromising the ligibility, ii) the platform allow them use the ticket PW to access the account directly from the bank MBS system hence no doubt on the authenticity. Note that they have not been sending NSE request but people still add that to some how help expedite their application and this is not compulsory. We say Indians have their applications expedited compared to Nigerians, they follow their SDS requirements to the core. It is possible they even stopped sending the NSE requests cause people are not actually meeting the requirements in the real sense of it ( which is having 30k CAD for 6 months). Now if an account is robust, it is ok to show the VO the long history as to see the account is busy and can establish the applicant financial standing and since MBS makes it easier to send a long SOA without having to worry about ligibility as well. Except for some reason, the applicant started building an account for this purpose and hence choose a few months. If one chooses to send 1 month MBS( SOA) , what exactly does this show? The Canadian study permit require you to show evidence as much as possible. Account statement is not the only thing that determines an approval, but all the ends must be tightened. For UK, they only need 28 days SOA and this is their own requirement... if one have a salary account and want to show they have been earning, no harm in sending your 1 year MBS to them. Ofcourse except it becomes a case of other reasons where account is not stable. But why not, if not.

Note: This is not just about this particular post though.

Good evening Nairaland fam. I am asking an important question as regards POF and I believe it will be useful to others on this forum

I have most of my funds in a fixed deposit account. Is it advisable to use the fixed deposit certificate (which shows the total amount fixed with the number of months it was fixed for) and payslips as evidence of proof of funds instead of the usual 3-6 months bank statement?

Thanks in advance

Congrats to everyone that has received PPR

I would like to ask how a gift deed is prepared, I intend have my dad transfer 5 million Naira to me as cost of living expenses for one year and with a promise to send another 5 million for the next year of study after on year.

My dad only does property business at the moment with no tax clearance and much documents, should I still use his SOA?

If I add gift of deed do I still need to ask him to write a sponsorship letter since I am the primary sponsor and he is supporting with living expenses for both years?

Can I just add his SOA and document of his properties?

I am yet to apply, I am just preparing all the documents I need

Please I need the gurus input and anyone else that has an idea

Thanks

I agree totally with u and that is y in a previous post I stated clearly that the least acceptable number of month u can send is 4 months which is not too advisable but its wot is on their website. however, 6 month is very ideal but with NSE, IRCC will require a one year history. But NSE has always been optional and NSE also requires IELTS but so many ppl were by passing IELTS with Exemption letter from their University stating that they do not require IELTS cos their medium of instruction was in English so in real sense Nigerians were not even playing by the NSE rules.Indians would do IELTS once they opt for SDS weda they have even had masters taught in English or not but we in Nigeria always look for a way to bypass the rules.I am not IRCC nd so cant say if that's the reason 4 scraping NSE but in the 1st place they were not even giving PPR after 5 or 6 weeks like they promised.i know someone who did NSE and applied October 2020.she got PPR April this year and I know others that were denied after 6 or 7 months with NSE ooo.so u neva can tell.

All I advice is submit at least 6 months MBS .it gives u an edge if ur banking transactions show sufficient funds nd good and busy banking transactions that relate to ur Job or Business .if u can in those 6 months, avoid Lump sum.plan ur POF even b4 u get admission. ur POF should be d 1st thing u plan 4 wen considering Canada ooo.

Hello guys, I need urgent help
So yesterday someone said they reached out to an mp and the assistant was able to give an update
I did the same yesterday and the mp told me that my application was put on hold because I hadnt paid the application fee so they gave me an email to reach out to concerning the debt.
Now the email I reached out to them and they said that it seemed like when I paid the fee at first, it was taken back. Now I’m confused because I don’t know if it’s a scam because really if the payment wasn’t there, how was I able to do biometrics and the rest. They should have detected that I didn’t pay na or the payment didn’t go through and also what if I didn’t reach out to the mp, how would I know because it’s not even everyone that reaches out to mp about their issues. Now I don’t know whether to pay another fee or not. Also in that email, the person said I should reply with the new receipt to that email and normally IRCC gives you updates on your account. Like if they request anything with the timeframe and all that, there’s nothing in my account. In my account, it still shows that the money is there. I’m very confused because does that mean that the assistant to the mp that replied is a scam or it’s the people she reached out to ?
Please house, I really need help

my dear, patience is a virtue .I dont advice ppl to sell their properties b4 ppr cos it can go either ways.80% of Nigerians are actually rejected.Even ppl on this platform that "tried" to follow all the rules to d best of their abilities are sometimes rejected 4 lump sum and other reasons.so I wont advise u 2 sell but if u have made up ur mind to sell, pls sell it and use the money to open a GIC to cater for ur living expenses. never tell IRCC that u sold ur land because u want to study.its a red flag as it reduces ur Economic/home ties and shows u are willing to do anything to Japa.

finaly, make a decision on ur POF before u submit.if he is really ur brother and he has same surname with u.same mom and dad,its not 3rd party sponsorship but the issue will then become if u have such a low account balance, the V.O may say ur study is not a reasonable expense .just make sure u sort ur finances before applying

I dont need a magician to tell me u did not make the payment urself.u either used an Agent or someone u probably don't know.bottom line is there was a charge back on the credit card used. if u can ,pay for ur application again using barter by flute wave cos if u dont,a procedural fairness letter is on the way and if u cant answer convincingly, it's a 5 year Visa ban.sorry am being blunt my dear but that's d sad reality.plz pay ur application and biometric fee urself cos hu ever paid b4 must have paid using a credit card and there was a charge back.please act fast b4 the letter comes and u can send a letter of explanation through webform.

u r lucky to find this out before that procedural fairness letter comes cos sometimes when it comes,u may even need a lawyer to help u draft an explanation.

@Gbemisola how far with ur application ?
