Not all children are lacking a conscience. Many children do not abandon their parents when they get old. For those who do, those children have their reasons. I don't think it's common sense to take care of a girlfriend/ boyfriend when your parents are living in poverty. Don't get me wrong. I always spend on my woman when I feel like doing it because she also spent her money on me. Don't neglect your parents because of the "cookie". Balance that shit of caring.

My grandma died last month at the age of 77. She was Hale and hearty, then suffered a sudden partial stroke in August. Nothing we didn't do for her. Took her the hospital, then was discharged home for palliative care so she came to stay with us. The hospital said they couldn't do anything more for her.

She was initially doing okay, then took a turn for the worse. Nothing we didn't do to make her comfortable, the doctors visited, we infact turned her room into a hospital. Employed nurses and carers, brought oxygen. But she failed to respond to treatment.

She passed away last month. But at least she passed on surrounded by loved ones. I might not have contributed much, but I know I did my best by her,took leave from work, monitoring her status through the night, going to hospitals to look for blood and drugs she needed. Called all my aunties and cousins abroad on video so she could see and talk to them to cheer her up.

I just wish that she was more comfortable. It was painful really seeing her sick like that. And I miss her.
We gave her a befitting burial early this month.
Mourning is hard.

Take care of your parents and grandparents. They deserve nothing less. I don't even know what to type anymore.

May we not have another reason to mourn this year and next. Amen!!
