Same thing happened to me. Same NIMASA, same 2012. We were 25,000 that wrote the exam and I was number 3205. They even brought in a videographer to make a video that truly, a test was conducted.

They called 109 for interview, wanted 10 people each for 10 departments. I remember we were like 13 in my department(accounts) which was the highest.

The guy who was in charge of confirming our presence in the hotel in Abj told me I shouldn't worry too much cos as far as he was concerned, I had gotten the job.

Went in for the interview, met 10 interviewers and dey asked basic qs. I aced it and was already planning on buying a car for myself and parents.

Omo, they didn't employ any of the 13 interviewees o in my department. Out of the 109 invited for the interview across board, they only employed 1 person. Meaning no body got employee across 10 departments except 1 man.

Went to the HQ only to be to told that they had employed people and that these guys had been working as far back as 6months ago.

That was the day I gave up on Nigeria

blinkz4real:
I have a similar experience! It happened that in 2012 Nimasa advert came out for Nigerian seafarers prog. Which I was selected out of thousands that wrote the test in stadium in Lagos, infact I scored 96 over 100.
Selected candidates were called 4 interview and I was among the final 100Nigerian selected to travel to Malaysia for 1yr training as a professional seafarer with huge allowances by FG then come back n work 4 the govt.
We were kept in a 5star hotel for more than 2weeks in Apapa making arrangement such as medicals and int'l passport all done by Nimasa enjoying myself n telling myself I don finally make am 4 life.
We were then asked to go home and start making arrangement in less than 1week cos our admission letter was already on ground to the school NMIT Malaysia. Omo guys till today since 2012 after we left that hotel we did not hear anything again till today.......Life happens I have moved on but for weeks/months I was depressed but God helped me.

........God has lifted me today. I thankGod I did not give up in life.

In 2012 was invited for an interview at Obasanjo farms ogun state , for the position of a farm manager, we were about 6 in number who were interviewed , I was shortlisted for the job , told to get two guarantors, which quickly did by providing one and was in the process of bringing in my second guarantor when I went to the head office at agbeloba in ogun state to met the personal manager.
He welcomed me that day and told me I was lucky that it seems they would be sending me to Liberia , instead to head the farm dia , so he took me to a meeting hall were I met the head of operation in Liberia who was in town for a meeting that day he was glad and asked the manager hope he can speak yoruba which I responded , myself he said very well , so we left , 2 days later I was in the head office again expecting my second guarantor to join me , when I noticed the very aggressive disposition of the personal manager it was like I was a persona nongrata , he however greeted me ah oga u are here wait for me am going for a meeting? I waited from 9 to 3pm he came back was like oga u are still here? Men! He told me to come back the next day which I did , same thing repeated itself again , then one of the staff approached me and was like bros e get watin I wan tell u? Then I she told me she felt sorry for me coming to waste my time that they have already sent another person to Liberia! I was broken,,,, for 2wks I could not understand why ! But today am in a better place ! Man no be God

Hmmmm, that NIMASA issue is when i know hardwork is not rewarded in Naija except you know the right Channel. My own exam was in Yenagoa. The aptitude text was in Lagos & all expenses (lodging, feeding & stipend for TP) paid by NIMASA. I was among the successful candidates but only God knows what happened afterwards. My name was swapped.

Giving Up In Life Is Never An Option, See This Personal Experience

Good day Nairalanders.
So I saw a thread that hit front page about ways of getting new jobs and I remembered this my personal experience and decided to share

I remembered applying for work at the federal Inland Revenue service here in Abuja, immediately after my service by the way i studied economics , so names was shortlisted for interview, we wrote the test and out of 15,000 candidates, though exams was scheduled separate days because of number of applicants , 50 was successfull and was short listed boom I checked and my name was number 18, my joy knew no bound, I didn't tell anyone as I wanted to take my people by surprise including my parents and siblings. cheesy
after that interview, they invited us for an oral interview.

I attended the interview and after the interview, 35 name was successful, I checked boom my name was number 12 on the list,
After the interview, we where all given breakdown of how the salary was like, omo, I see money tears dropped from my eyes, I was anticipating how to renovate my family house after working like for 6 months and changing my parents car as it was well deserved,

After the interview we where waiting for a mail to confirm our employment letter and posting, after waiting for 2 weeks no news, I went to the headquarters were we did our interview and was reliably informed that new recruit had resume work since, I made further inquiry and I was made to understand that the final interview was done on Sunday, and our names were replaced with people that lobbied,
I shouted, on Sunday, ?? Government work?? And we where never informed and
minimum of 7million naira was used to swap our names with the people that paid.

I find cry, I no see, cry I was depressed for almost 2 months, my babe will come and see me emantiating by the day as I refuse to eat, this girl will come to my house and cry from Morning till night begging me to eat, chai true love they shaa, love really shark her that year, but I bounced back to my feet and moved on.
And thank God, I am doing well for myself, and I pray that the Lord continues to shower me and everyone that refuse to give up blessings in abundance.

Most times when you see people contemplating suicide on the media, don't use it as a joke, encourage them not to commit suicide if u must comment, because most people vent their frustrations on the media waiting for validation, and believe me they do take anything said to them to heart 100%, unlike other people out there, I never contemplated suicide because I know I have got a thick skin and can survive the street, one of the advantages of being street smart, e never get wetin eye never see, so trolling and name calling and shaming on the internet don't move people like me, learn how to develop a thick skin in every situation like this. Most importantly don't ever wait for media validation in your personal life, what the media says don't mean nothing and won't affect you in anyway, know this and know peace

I hope someone learnt one or two things from my story.
LOBBYING is part of what the White sold to us as democracy. So, enjoy!

Welcome to the thick-skinned community. Street smartness is a must, especially for Naija. Happy you overcame the depression.

One thing though: What the media say do effect you, may not be immediately or directly but they do. Media have enormous influence on government policies.

Nonetheless, you still have focus and run your race.

Experience is the best teacher. Something you don't have knowledge of will always look like a mirage. Things are happening in this country if you privileged to know. I know of someone who was owing a loan of #700k but was fortunate with the FIRS last recruitment Fowler did. Before my very eyes, he notified his bank to clear the loan within 3 months when the present chairman gave them the go ahead to resume. The kickbacks that comes with this job accompanied with their bonuses is something else.
i know a frnd who was into laundry when he couldn't secure a job. somehow he got d FIRS job in mid 2019 with juicy posting(name withheld). by early 2020(about 10months into d job) my guy don buy 2011 big Sienna. he told me how they were just receiving regular alerts(not salary o) during lockdown. bros, that FIRS job no be here o.

A country that runs on such a level of corruption as though it’s oxygen or petrol can go nowhere but down, and this isn’t me being pessimistic; I’m just saying it the way it is. No person, organisation, or country can cheat their way into greatness.

How can you have so many unproductive and underproductive people “sorting” their way into unmerited positions across all levels of government and drawing monthly salaries from government coffers and still expect greatness as a nation? That’s like the robbery of the national treasury by most government workers.
This has continously baffled me. The Civil Service is over bloated, you have workers that add little to no value, yet are drawing ludicrous amounts in remuneration.

I don't see Nigeria ever moving forward until the inefficient nature of the Civil Service is dealt with.

I can relate to this, middle of this year, hubby was invited for an interview which he passed and they negotiated for salary the same day. The pay was times 3 of what he earns presently, which is barely enough till the middle of the month. I was so happy, he did his medicals and was asked to come resume the following month.

The morning he left we were so happy. I called him around 11 to know whether he has been given the offer letter but got a very sad news that he got hepatitis and can't be given the job offer. I cried my eyes out. I was so sad and depressed. I couldn't sleep for days. We had debts on our neck that I believe will be easily cleared once he starts the job.

I usually do the test when pregnant and it's always negative, I was surprised when he told me.

I'm happy for you OP that you are doing well now. I'm still trying to get over it, hubby doesn't say it out but I know it hurts him more.

It is well my brother, we'd all shine in due time.

Life goes ON.

If you are currently unemployed or underemployed, you might want to check this out.

Man must survive, it's a cold world out there.

Find someone who is doing a business and making sales offline. You’ll find many of them in Onitsha, Computer village, Aba, Alaba, Aspamda, Idumota, etc.

Most of these people have no idea what goes on online. They also do not care what goes on online.

All they care about is making sales and getting money flowing into the business daily.

Be their online person.

Bring their business online, and advertise to those who want what they sell.

You will make money doing this.
You’ll make a lot of money doing this.

As a woman, you can open an online shop for that woman selling lace in Aba, and add money on top onto for yourself. That’s your own profit on every sale.

As a guy, you can open an online store store for that man selling computers at Computer village.

Read information from Google and publish content about computers and what people should look out for before buying a laptop.

More people would begin to reach out to you when need laptops.

Reach out to that guy who makes shoes and footwear in your neighborhood and be their online guy.

Promote what they make online and add your own profit.

Look around you, look where others are neglecting, you’ll find a gem.

You can’t afford to be idle for long.
You can’t afford to stay broke.
You can’t afford to continue earning a meagre salary every month.

You don’t need to be a genius to make money online, and have a better life.

Look for a business that is offline, bring it online and get them SALES.

You will make a lot of money.

Same also happened to me this year, I applied for the Ogun tescom job 50 was the cut off I had 70. I was shortlisted for the interview travelled from Ibadan to Abeokuta for the interview. My hope was dashed when I heard people have resumed work after about a month after the interview. A friend whose mum was in the system later told me that people where picked according to lga slot. Have kuku move on, if you need a graphic designer am available for all type of graphic design.
We started the race into Ogun state civil service Commission by December 2017, we did ASCON exam to screen applicants. We had the first interview, Second interview, we were tested on the practical aspect and went for final interview where we were asked Question orally in relation to our field. Names were never shorlisted until after 2019 election. By the time final list was released After election it has been tampered with. I was sooo depressed but we just have to move one. To benefit anything from the Government, you must have god father, else don't disturb yourself. Even with your godfather you van be sidelined

A staff told u this? You're a liar. How much is the annual salary that people will pay N7m.
Only foolish and gullible people will believe this trash. If we're talking Shell or Mobil I go hear.
Renovate house and buy car in 6 months. Is it not that same agency wey my cousin be dey work? Their salary is just average, slightly better than Ministry. Most of their young ambitious staff are leaving. Overrated piece of crap.

Hello o.
I had a similar experience with same FIRS some years back for a job on grade Level 12 after series of test and interview. I still have the offer letter by the way. In my own case, while we were writing the test and interview, they usually send letters to me by courier. However, the letter of employment came via a regular post office and the envelope containing the letter of employment is the brown small envelope. I was in the private sector then and do not really understand how the public sector works. They wanted IT practitioner and it seems I went to train them at the final interview. So they don't seems to have an option than to give me the job.
So to cut a long story short, my letter of employment was held away and sent about a year after those I believed must have lobbied started work. So when I got to their office to resume they were asking me why I delayed my resumption for a year !!! It was a laughable story my brother.

I can relate, I had the same experience with NCDC in 2016 or so. I came out as one of the top 3 candidates but our names were swapped in Abuja. I was even asked to bring 500k but around that time to even feed was a big challenge, not to talk of raising 500k.
The level of injustice going on in this country is heartbroken, you need to grow a thick skin to beat the odds in Nigeria especially if you are from a humble background. But God has been faithful so far sha.
This is how recruitment into our public service is generally conducted. This explains why our security officers are so compromised and get killed cheaply as chickens given they weren't taking in based on any competence hence unfit for the job
