PAQ:
Hi guys, i am here again with all things Oneplus.

OnePlus 8 lineup starts ColorOS 12 closed beta recruitment. If you are eager to test official Android 12 based on latest ColorOS builds, follow the link below. But before you do know that;
1. You must have 8, 8pro or 8t
2. Must be running the latest HydrogenOS and
not OxygenOS

https://www.realmicentral.com/2021/11/10/oneplus-8-lineup-starts-coloros-12-closed-beta-recruitment/

Good one fam. Would have like to try it on my 8T! But I dey fear

I believe we shall have A12 by Jan/Feb. Beta builds are unstable but apart from apps compatibility & maybe battery drain, it should be fine. If i were on hydrogen i would have given it a go

It would be nice if one of us could join the beta and give us a review.

I might consider it next week. Lemme see reviews from those who jump first into the waters grin

Why not look for another original cord and see if it makes any difference?

Oneplus devices aren't so expensive like we se in Nigeria shops and outlets. Try Aliexpress and you'll know what I'm saying. Thi gs are sold double the prices here.
PAQ:
Oneplus came into limelight with their flagship killer Oneplus one in 2014. Ever since then Oneplus has remained in the top league of android phones, and one of the first Chinese brands to challenge Samsung, Sony, HTC and LG for the top spot in mobile technology. Apart from their decent hardware their main selling point is a bloat free close to vanilla android OS; Oxygen Os(global) & Hydrogen Os(Chinese). 7 years later we now have the oneplus 9, oneplus 9pro and oneplus Nord 2 with the Oneplus 9t coming soon.

Right now as far as android mobile phones are concerned the top 5 flagship brands are (not in any particular order) Samsung S21ultra, Xiaomi M11ultra, Pixel 5xl, Oneplus 9pro, xperia 1iii. Sadly Oneplus went from one of the affordable flagships to one of the most expensive, same as Xiaomi. Oneplus 9pro is close to a whopping 500k!

After a lovely year with a Mi Note 10lite (the most beautiful phone i have used) i decided its time i jumped ship and get a new experience out of MIUI, so here i am, now rocking 2020s Oneplus 8pro, i could not afford the oneplus 9! angry

The oneplus 8pro is still a powerful device by todays standards, the specs are as follows;
. Snapdragon 865
. Qualcomm Adreno 650
. Curved fluid 6.78 inches amoled 120hz display
. 3168 × 1440 resolution with 513ppi
. IP68 certified water and dust resistant
. Aluminium frame and gorilla glass 5 front and
back
. 8g 128gb or 12g 256gb
. 48, 48, 8 & 5 Sony rear camera & 16 front camera
. 4510 battery with 33w wireless charging and
reverse charging to charge other wireless devices
- Android 10 out of the box, updated to android
11. Oneplus promised 3yrs os updates and 4yrs
security patches. So android 13 is a given.

While changing brands my main concern was battery life. Smartphones of today have reached a crescendo in terms of technology, most phones have good cameras and enough power but battery capacity is always an issue. From research oneplus 8pro was second to Samsung galaxy S20 ultra. In real life use it was at per with my Mi Note 10lite (a battery king with 5260mah battery) due to the battery efficient SD 865 and the optimized Oxygen OS.

The first thing i did after setting it up was to root the device by patching the boot.img with magisk. I left the recovery untouched. The advantage of this method is to be able to update my os wen needed and still maintain root. I just have to un patch and patch the boot image. Easy!

This thread is to promote all things Oneplus. Pls be free to make discussions, post your pictures taken from oneplus, tell us about your oneplus device & your experience.

Sellers should sell at the same price as what you have online because dollar and naira are the same?

You've not included shipping.

Everyone should just go online and buy then.

I'll give you a good example bro, my friend wanted to buy a poco f3, here in Nigeria it was selling for 280k, I just gave him clue on Ali Express and we bought the phone for 133k (shipping included). Meaning we asked close to 130k. Now oneplus 9 pro sells at 250k(shipping included) but here it goes for 400 to 450k. I'm not against sellers price, it business same way its business to go the cheaper route for same product. I'm just trynna enlighten a few that if they can't afford buying it here in our stores they could purchase from outside at cheaper rate and wait a max 35 days to get it

This OnePlus is looking very interesting... Wanna ask some questions

1: Does it have 'second space' like Xiaomi phones do

2: Do the phones come with dual SIM space? Or it's just single SIM

3: Is there a competent repair place in Lagos for it in case of damages or screen issue

Thanks

Yes there is second space

Some are dual, some are single. Depends on the region.

Yes, there are people that fix them here in Lagos. But sometimes you need to order parts in.

I wouldn't worry much if I were you. Keep your phone well and no need to worry about repairs and all.

Dual sims are rare, but hold like 300k Max.

Won't lie brethren, that wud not sit down well with me...

But can I get an honest opinion from you? If I purchase refurbished or fairly used ones from eBay or Amazon, what do you think? Or it's a bad idea?

Check the seller to ensure that the person is reputable. Refurbished from the company is as good as brand new. Have no fears. Fairly used from a trustworthy seller is also a good bargain imo. Make sure you are also buying a fairly recent model too. Reduces the chances of buying rubbish.
