This school appears to be a reputable school with what I read online about them, one of the best school in Lagos state..

I really do hope they can bounce back, but sadly the hungry Nigerian media sphere has done a really great damage to the image of the school (beyond repair)

Yes, the school loose guide big time, but the recent development surrounding this issue is needless, I mean, stuffs like, revealing the owner of the school with bad captions.... Is that going to change anything?
The school management didn't notice this small loopholes, we can't blame them, cultism is strange in Luxury private colleges.

May the soul of the young promising boy continue to rest in peace.

The school isn't reputable, a school that thrives on lies wetin Dem go teach their students. Na just to collect money. Let them expose the culprit of this crime, Dem dey talk rubbish. For such to happen in a school without anyone knowing such speak much about the school. Kids aren't safe there.

Why can't the school hand over the murderers of the boy to the authorities? They can't because they are obviously protecting them.

Just last week, a 15 year old boy in the US killed 4 of his classmates and injured 7 others. The school revealed the identity of the boy to the authorities and an arrest was made and now he is being tried as an adult not even a juvenile.
They should do the needful by investigating the situation themselves and not waiting for authorities to do that on their own

Idiots calling for a "thorough and proper investigation".

Did you investigate before you said the poor boy died from a football accident?

Your school has been closed.

The Delta state government is on you.

The atrocity is trending on social media, you are trying to remove yourself.

School should be closed down permanently.

You lied about the boy's death.

Allowed the culprits escape instead of handing them to the police.

Yes. An intuitive Nairalander here stated that the authorities first release on the possible cause of his death could be based on what Sylvester was threatened to say by his bullies. And so the authorities took that for the cause not knowing there was more to that
Nope
I still believe the school authorities are aiding sylvester's killers.
Anyone with half a brain would see his injuries and know that it cannot be from football at all.
Is the school trying to insinuate that he died from football injuries or what??

As if they are better I served in FGC IKIRUN 2014, and I know what I saw there. If your sending ur kids to a boarding house, just be praying for them. If his kids tell you half of what they go through, you won't believe it. Especially the junior ones and they become too scared to talk. Some senior students are poorly brought up and damaged students who have been given an opportunity to transfer aggression on other junior kids
TarOrfeeek:

Classic Animal Kingdom school

Only the Fit will survive (in this case, financially fit)

Because I don't see any reason why students would have enough time to beat a fellow student to the point where his liver will be enlarged.

And also points to the fact that there was no proper disciplinarian in the school. (No lights out, no hall master, no year head)

Also that the teachers themselves were respectful of the culprits due to the wealth and social standing of their parents. (Looking for tips and handouts from them during visiting days)

Nothing like a Good, Government School. Where regardless of your wealth and standing, a hot headed teacher can slap celestial beings into your damaged brain.

Really?
And it took them this long to come out to say something good.
Is it the school authorities that killed the student?
No!
So why hasn't the school been transparent in this journey to reveal the truth?
Simple!
Becos some parents are coming with the school.

Ur talking as if u don't read how a typical scenario would be had it been this happened outside the shores of the country.
The school and police would have been giving a day to day breakdown of events as investigation progresses.

If the owner of the school is not a devil or acting like one ina mysterious cult , he or she would have even made a public address to show that he or she has a human side.

After all to the best of our knowledge, the owner isn't involved.

I can only imagine how this incident has dampen the image of this school, but they are partly to blame for their negligence in dealing with this matter. I strongly believe that those boys must have been perpetrating similar mischief in the school but their greed do not permit them to enforce discipline on them, they probably don't want to lose a few million bucks.

When you people (DOWEN) knew the investigation is ongoing, why rushing to the medial to claim the boy died of injury sustained while playing? Big Bleep up on your side and the integrity of your school is at stake because it seems you are trying to cover up some tracks for some individuals.

May Silvester soul Rest In Peace . Too sad, he died . Worst things goes on in both boarding and day schools, but unfortunately we neglect it except them becomes fatal or happens to rich people .
The management is very wrong in the first statement. Here are my reasons
1) Boarding schools has clinics , did they take the boy to the school clinics ? What’s the clinician report ?
2) The house or hostel captain and master in charge of the hostel , when all the bullying was going on , didn’t they notice of such things ?
3) Initially , they said he got injured from football , did the boy say such ?
4) Why allowing the ‘ accused’ escape or leave the school , when the story changed ? I’ve many questions but let me stop ?
For school owners , though it’s business , employ professionals for both academic and administrative parts , if possible only handle the final aspect . Because some proprietors are always money minded , they care less about scholars attitudes .
What do I know ?

I don't know how old you are or which school you attended.
1 thing is that this is not the first time this is happening in secondary(high) schools in Nigeria or any where else in the world.
But thanks to social media, this is getting major attention and hopefully justice is served on the culprits even though they are minors.

The school really can't be blamed. They will only be liable if others have been reporting cases of bullying and they have turned a blind eye. Cos truly this happens in every school. Public schools and very expensive private schools are the worst.

My brother went to Greensprings (one of the most expensive schools in Nigeria back then and even now) and I know what butter kids are capable of.
Also some public schools are just a no-no if you can afford a reasonable private school.

Cos every occasion some butter children dont get any attention from their parents. Yet if their parents are careless they might actually get access to they dad's gun. Which once in a while they bring to school
First some public school, cultism is the bane they're dealing with cos you will find a school trying to prove they have the toughest guys in the neighbourhood. And really some of them are products of their parents or uncles.

Morale of the story, I think Dowen has to do a lot of damage control. I don't think they can be totally blamed for the death of Sylvester.

1.Some times these rich men were once cultists themselves and it's karma catching up on them.

2. Some times the parents give their children/wards good upbringing but when the kids get to school they want to be among the cool kids and end up doing things their parents are not even aware of.

3. Some times the school truly is negligent especially when the focus of the proprietor/proprietress is only about the money.

I believe with Lami Philip's really invested in her family's school number 3 is not an option in this case.

Cos they school has done well with damage contro whilel responding well to investigation, Lagos state govt, Ministry of Education, affected parents and their patrons and the parents of their students.

That said, let's cut Dowen a lil slack and hope the culprits or their parents don't go away Scot free.

The school should have borrowed a leaf from Obi Cubana with respect to the recent incident when a client died in Abuja
1. On his own he immediately closed down the club(hustle and bustle)
2. The management willingness to allow police to investigate the matter.
3. Condolence was sent to the victim’s family
4.eventually the real cause of dearth was established via CCTV footage
5. After all of these the club was allowed to resume business

The management of Dowen goofed big time by the way they mishandled the initial response

I'm 100% sure that that boy was killed by kids of extremely wealthy parents. Such occurrences are prevalent in top paying private secondary schools across the country. These so-called rich parents feed so much negativity into the heads of those spoilt brat that make them feel like they are above everybody in their respective schools. They see others as not up to their level and can do whatever they feel like doing to their victims with little or no remorse because they see themselves as untouchable in the society.
This ugly trend as to stop before other Innocent victims like Oromoni Jnr. are caught in this unfortunate situation.

You're correct The school is a reputable one. Dowen messed up by bringing up that football injury story. But then, some captions have been disappointing. Imagine hounding people here and there. One funny character here was even trying to rally people to go burn down the school. We like to destroy. Emotion will not solve the issue. There have been thousands of Sylvester's out there, but I'm happy we're finally discussing this bullying/cultism issue. This same bullying is what goes on in public schools with deaths resulting numerous times. Neither Is it different from young kids also brutally cut down in Uniben, lasu, or imsu because of cultism. They need to properly investigate.
