Honestly this advice only works when you are at a senior developer. Op please don't take this advice. I also spammed jobs before I got my first job. People I advised to spam jobs have gotten good jobs very good. One I know in fact works for two companies. One in the UK and the other in Australia. He earns over 3 million a month and he hasn't been coding professionally for up to a year. Even I don't earn up to one million though my earnings are in the high six digits range.

Spam and apply please you are a junior Dev. If you build 100 things from videos and copying and pasting stack overflow solutions it will absolutely never be up to standard. Get into the industry and learn how things work at an industry standard.

What I will advise you op as you are getting interviews is to work on your algorithms. Don't waste your time building any new thing. The ones you have done are okay.

Pls big man, is there a way I can get in touch with you, online or offline. I really want to learn, please

Honestly I don't teach. If you send me a PM too same thing. All I can do is guide you and show you the courses to take and what you should learn and that's it. You would still need to do all the work.

Really can't see why this would be so. PHP framework is typical of most programming languages. My guess is that learning programming itself is the issue here, in which case you would need to work on that if you want any piece of the global action out there. You simply cannot get anywhere if you can't program in this enterprise, of course I could be completely wrong in this assumption.

Of course, that's where C# comes in, PHP and C# performes virtually the same thing.... And I'll pick C# any day any time cos it's more flexible. I'll even pick python over PHP any day.

This is a portfolio damn. I hope you have started applying to jobs already. This is what I tell people all the time. Have been saying this for months on end.

Honestly, not quite. I still do have that imposter syndrome sometimes o... The only job I applied for was about 4months ago and I was forced to learn things just to scale through. I tried completing 4 out of 7 of the task. I submitted it like that. Yes, I did not get the job but they gave me some study resources to start with and encouraged me re-apply in six months' time. Honestly, that experience opened my eyes.

I don't have any problem working with WordPress, Magento, Opencart, practically any/all CMS' but that isn't enough for me.

I want something different and solid. lol, I even have my own private hosting server. (So, I do server management too amongst every other thing ( https://pdhosts.com ) I use this solely for my clients and not for the public. They never experience downtime or any server-related issue as I am always here to catch and fix anything. I have over 30 websites hosted on it ) I even built and configured some private server for some people who wants their own private space.

That aside, I have this PHP (Laravel) project that checks the VIN of any car for free http://autocartalk.herokuapp.com/

Because I want something better, I started a React/Nextjs version of it.
Here's the basic Figma design of it: https://www.figma.com/file/UyL6Bl9gkB2JJT0mVbqoS7/Vehicle-Vin-Check?node-id=18%3A887

And here's the design I'm working on using chakra UI for the first time.: https://vinfrontend./ dot app (nairaland dey comot the tld extention)

The idea is to just keep building stuffs in my free time and now it's turning into a habit.

Thanks for the compliments bro.

Underneath they're all the same. This goes for virtually all programming languages, syntax shouldn't prevent successful mastery.

@op ask if you could use JAMstack approach... that's working with Headless cms... you could use any of them out there, personally I love Sanity.io and strapi.

With these approach I think you can do this... writing DB schemas isn't that difficult if you understand it.

After which you can easily consume the Endpoints using REST or GraphQL... why I'd always go with GraphQL is, it already have a simple approach to all you just mentioned.
Filtering, Sorting, and the likes...
Generally, what you should do for every job invite is to actually do what you were sent even though you aren't going to work with them or finish the project in their own time. It increases your understanding of what to expect in the future.

I remember trying to solve the problem I received from a Polish company, I kuku jam more problems, and beautiful solutions to accelerate the tasks. Today when a person talks about DB and their schema, I know what to do.
That's how I got to learn something like FaunaDB, then I come jam another solution like Hasura and a few others including Sanity.io GROQ. To keep it simple, you can use Postgres via hasura or kukuma go with mongodb

Just give it try if you aren't doing anything for now... comot mind for the work work do you thing. You'd see how you'll automatically start using all these right of the box.

https://www.daniel-dozie.dev/

This is my portfolio website that I'm working on.
All the texts and images are all on sanity. So basically I had to consume the data from the Endpoints using groq or graphql...

Built it right off my head without any design inspiration... using React/Nextjs with typescript, and Tailwind UI... now I comfortably use most UI frameworks. I'm working on another personal project using the same stack but this time with Chakra UI... In 24hours, I already know how to work with chakra...

the idea is to keep improving. No knowledge is a waste.

This is amazing. You should look to selling the license of some of these things on creative market or themeforest. The designs are really really good and it's a great way to make some income on your efforts and also get exposure and more freelance clients.

I really want to study another thing entirely and I've been fascinated with computers. My fears is that i can't even type very well. Can someone that can't even type very well, Words, excel and PowerPoint be a good candidate for a computer science degree?

You have not completed your apprenticeship, you want to start showing off with jobs.
You are like some gullible Nigeria pastors that jump off to form a new church because they have started preaching at children classes.
Go back and perfect your learning process.
I love the way you started, but, try, endure to complete your stuff and be a guru. Thank you.

Not true. I gained proficiency in PHP in as little as 3 hours because that's what I had to do to move along, and besides the requirements is actually quite elementary.

PHP and A Javascript framework built with Diff are two different things, the latter is a design pattern if you're not familiar with, you will hang PHP is not exactly hard compared to a framework like React

But the problem i am having is a mentor to advise me on the best way to go about it, i have to tins in my to do (web development or cyber security) but i prefer the later the most.

See brother, i have never code before but i have little knowledge about html.

Pls how do i go about this, i realy need to get a skill bro. Tho i am not starving, and am not jobless, my job pays my bills and effortlessly but i want to upgrade and double my hustle as i would soon become a father.

Search for guys that are good in it from Nairaland or other forum to help you do it and u will learn from it.

The world is going towards getting the job without knowing jack. That's y you see freelancer jobs everywhere.
This should be OP best advice but what do I know?

The thing is if you decide to wait till you can handle big projects by yourself, you might just be wasting resources on knowledge for a long period of time without earning much from it. Take that contract and outsource it! I’m talking from experience.

The word you're looking for is specialization. As a programming language(more correctly, scripting language) their basic architecture are similar. Fetch data, process, produce output, identical architecture. The specializations come in when they interface with HTML. PHP allows for dynamic web pages while java script enables event driven web pages.

Yes but React is built to detect changes and remove from a VirtualDOM and uses a diff algorithm, use Effect and use Hooks do not run like traditional evented JavaScript, it runs based on React was built so codes can be performed when effect has been fired , that paradigm is not JavaScript. Which is why I said you cannot learn in 24hrs if you are still struggling with JS, you are talking about something else unrelated.

If you doubt me go read the internals of React and you will see how it works.

I'm afraid I'll have to disagree here. A good engineering field(Electrical, Mechanical e.t.c) would occupy that rank, why? Because this field also require the student to be a programmer as well, then self help(which you would have to do even if you majored in computer science) would fill in the gaps.

I would only rate electrical. Mechanical is the most useless aspect of engineering. Besides computer science goes more than just programming. Data structures and algorithms, systems design, discrete mathematics are just a few of the courses you will be taking as part of the requirements to be awarded a degree in computer science. An electrical engineer can still learn that but it will take time.

Seriously? Electrical engineering? Can't be. 1st degree in electrical engineering: Circuits fundamentals, circuits design, Orthonormal transformations(Fourier/Laplace), Programming, Probability and Statistics, Digital circuits, signal processing, more programming and even more circuits, not to speak of many more specialized sub-fields. CS cannot even shed light on the shadow of EE, the difference in breadth is just too vast.
