Local dogs are hardly vaccinated here in Nigeria by owners. Try get all injections. l hope the dog isnt rabid. Some of them are just frustrated with how they are being treated. Bone is now hard to come by and free food or leftovers is more like asking for too much. If it red for the owner, sure e go reach them too.

Make sure you complete your vaccinations so that U dnt bark like a dog,who cares for ekuke...I remember the day i outran a dog from his compound pass my house which is nearer enter inside someone house,thank God his door was open.

I heard if a dog transmit rabies, it would die after few days. Should I still be worried if the dog doesn't die?
I mean if the dog is healthy and alive does it means it couldn't have had rabies infection to transmit during bite?
I need advice from only those with knowledge of the matter

All this dog self,i remebered a day when i was passing by and i saw a dog which needed help urgently because it leg was stucked on something.

When i try removing it leg from the hole...then in a blinkle of an eye, it gave me a terrible bite and also scrached my hand with it's finger,in the same rhyme i gave it a big blow which removed it from the hole that it was stucked on.
I hate nonsence!

Go to the nearest hospital and quickly get vaccinated for rabies if you like yourself.

Symptoms u should watch out for!
1. You no go dey sleep for night.
2. To dey chop bone go dey hungry you.
3. You go develop tick infestation.

Dear son, if you got bitten by a dog, seek medical help asap. Infected Dogs transmit rabies which is dangerous to your body. You should take the first antirabies injection within 24hr, 48hr,72hr,60hr. Failure to adhere to this could lead to death by barking.

Last year during during coro period. I was bitten by one useless dog. Modafvker bit me twice, then ran away.
By the time I finished with Google, nobody told me to find money for anti rabies. All the shots where taken at a pharmacy along with "bros, wetin u do the dog?" "bros, abi dey chop dog?".
Spent a total of 25k for 5 doses..

OP I really feel your pain man. But pls try all you can to get the complete treatment to avoid stories that touch the heart. Even if that local dog got any vaccinations, we can't really verify from the mama. If na borrow, borrow money make u collect complete treatment. If to say my game no cut, I for wire you the bar cry

First of all...what part of your body were you bitten?
If its in your extremities(hand or leg)then you are in a better place than being bitten in the head or neck.The virus(if its there)would take a while longer to reach the Central nervous system and do its nasty work
For all its worth, did you wash the wound thoroughly?
If you did,good.
Now to other factors.Lets look at the dog.
Did you provoke the dog in any way?Did you step on its tail by mistake or inflict any form of pain on it that made it bite?Rabid dogs tend to attack unprovoked..
Was it drooling?as in foaming in the mouth?
Can you still see the dog?is it still alive...and healthy?
A rabid dog that is symptomatic will definitely die within days,although 10 days is the standard.
If you can see the dog,observe it for a day or two
If its rabid,there will definitely be signs everyone can see(biting imaginary objects,barking strangely,foaming in the mouth,aimless wandering...then paralysis which starts from the back legs)
Now back to you...

Hope it's not a mushroom clinic?
Go to a government hospital
Anti rabid vaccine is a lot more expensive than.5k
And you need 5 shots

my left index finger. There is also some scratches on the middle finger. The scratches are deep and painful but the bite is very small and relatively painless. I went there this evening, I saw the dog, it was just strolling round the compound with lots of people around around it wasn't showing any form of abnormal behaviour or attacking anyone. It's not drooling.
It was sitting close to the door yesterday and I tried to touch its head.
It saw me this evening and tried to hide or something. I'm supposed to go for the second dose tomorrow. The owner of the clinic is a doctor, I think he works in one government hospital. They gave me the injection in my buttocks

I don't have knowledge of this matter,but I can advice you to go the nearest assemble in your area & share your testimony, under normal conditions dog bite could be very deadly...

It’s good that you have taken the 1st rabies prophylactic shot. Get the dog observed continuously for about 7 days, if dog doesn’t show Rabid signs, you can discontinue the rabies regimen.

good one that you've started the antirabies vaccine, thoroughly wash your wound with soap and water( should have been the first aid you would have given yourself immediately the bite). Complete the remaining shots, I don't think you have a problem.........from your write up it seems you had a scratch instead of a bite, kindly snap and update on the thread.

To be honest with you, rabies is not something you should be joking with here.

I'm a medical student and have been on neurology posting. Once you have rabies, even doctors don't care much about treating you because about 99 percent of patients die.

Note...

I'm not scaring you, but do the needful by taking the complete does of the drug.

Oga..try and observe that dog if it eats food and drinks water..especially water.
If it doesnr do that very well, then dont wait for the dog to die before you treat yourself coz by then it will be late...

Unable to make the observation,then take the injections..as early as possible.

If the dog drinks water and doesn't die within 7days, its not rabid. You sef, don't touch dogs that ain't yours.
