You won't because aside the rock issues the soil texture and formation of Enugu is very different they have more of sandy soil that looks like sharp sand underneath so it closes and collapses after drill unlike Lagos that still has solid clay formations till you get to water.
Are u really serious? I am telling u that if u dig beyond the coal u will find water and u doubting it. Do u live in Enugu. Do u know how many boreholes and well that are in my street alone. Please stop that fallacy. It's annoying.

You can spend 10m drilling very deep borehole in Enugu town and all you'll get is coal water. You can't do anything with it. grin
Omo if coal business is reopened in Enugu, the city's economic development will shoot to the moon. There's plenty coal in Enugu.
In 2017, I paid 2,500 for 500 gallons GeePee.
Today, it's 5k lmao.
Na only you understand the problem of Enugu water scarcity. The others are quack Geologists. Enugu is on top of coal bed. There is nothing anyone can do rather than pumping water from Ajali River. However, the fat Enugu Governor has made the matter worst by not improving on the infrastructure on ground.

I'm talking from professional point of view.
Getting water in whole of Enugu city will cost a trillion naira. 2b naira can't even build you a short span flyover

Tomorrow this people will start blaming Buhari as if they don't have a governor.
Ordinary water, you cannot provide and you have the guts to be sponsoring a terrorist organization (ipob) to distabilize the country.
Good morning, i saw your comment yesterday on FCT minister pledging to support Next Cash; you called the minister "a fool" and made some other unsavory comments, i overlooked it.

Reading your comment again this morning spurred me into this response: please do away with hate and tribalism, you only registered this moniker April this year but my intuition confirms that you must have been here for ages switching from one moniker to another, hate will do you no good, thank you.

Is Enugwu the only mountainous city in Nigeria?
When drilling boreholes in Enugu, you have to go deeper than the regular borehole depth used in other places with flat land.
The only problem is that it costs more.
That's not the only problem.
When you get to ground level you hit coal not water. When you even get to water level, there are no aquifers and if you hit any aquifer it is not portable.

Enugu metropolis is underlain by shale which is an aquitard, and borehole instability might be another issue due to the shaly nature of the subsurface. Running a geophysical survey before drilling, will definitely yield a good outcome on where to drill and depth to drill to. But the problem with the people is that they don't believe in spending money. I know a hotel worth millions, but there's no borehole, they buy water to refill. Drill borehole..mba.

Unlike Northern politicians that commission water projects for their people in cities, towns and villages..an average Eastern politician would prefer to carry some big booty bitch than do such.

Igbos ain't really smart.
This thread is about water scarcity in Enugu and you summarlly generalized that Igbos have water scarcity. Yes Enugu have water scarcity but not Igbo as a whole, thank you.

GodIsBiafran:
We need BIAFRA NOW! Nigeria is holding us back. Let Biafra come and all these nonsense will become history.
Even as an Igbo after telling you this you will refer to me as a hypocrite but note that I will not quote you back.I Know that Nigeria is a shit country with many ethnic groups thinking differently laughing at each other's failures, complaining about each other's success but I have a question is the igbos actually United? No,you see igbos killing each other's envying each other's success to the extent of using charms on one another, I know that the Igbos are more United than the yorubas but Biafra will be the worst Nigeria will be better than her.if you come to the South East states there is still division. Those from Anambra will say Enugu state are like this, those from imo will still say Anambra people are ritualist and when you come inside Enugu state those from UDI will still say that Agbani people are like that, this is how it is in the South East.i will not say that Nigeria is the major problem why Biafra have not have Independence but the people inside The biafra.so please, let us tell ourselves the truth and unite before you can start talking about Biafra.

I can't give you cost implications.
I lived in the city when I was younger and the population was about 5x less. We had uninterrupted tap water.
Water for Enugu is piped from Ajalli the nearest sustainable water works, a distance of 30 km!!, From the city, using large pipes.
Most part of the city had tap water up to early 2000, even now some parts of the city still have running tap water.
With tremendous population growth and city expansion, coupled with non proactive governance, public water supply became unsustainable.
The past government tried to partner with the world Bank to see if they can at least maintain supply to the older parts of the city, which met limited success.
They relaid some pipes and did some test runs but a new government came who had other priorities, I guess the cost implications and lack of dedication make them look the other way.
Solving water problem in Enugu is doable but will be very expensive and will need total dedication.
It is ABSOLUTELY NOT a private individual project.

Enugu is a big for nothing ghetto. Resilient city without water. Water tankers running around the whole place like fuel tankers sad

Enugu is surrounded by water. the technology is there. what is lacking is willingness, without siphoning money.

No my dear. ENUGU is one of the few states in Nigeria where only the government provides water at a monthly rate. I.e. State Water Board. Sadly they are consistently inconsistent. Cross Rivers too. You are not allowed to sink a private borehole. You might do so at your own risk and detriment though.
This is a lie. The only means of getting water in Enugu is by buying from water tankers or waiting for rain to fall. No law prevents anyone from sinking borehole..,they don't do it because it is impossible to get water by sinking borehole since Enugu is on a coal bed. The water board in Enugu doesn't function.,most of the pipes are rusted, broken, lead pipes that cause cancer. So people rarely patronize it when it supplies droplets of water twice a year in public junctions not even peoples homes.

Absolutely, I'm a student here in Enugu, there's water here in Enugu (Agbani and Maryland). They are less concerned about getting water here in Enugu. Someone will build a house and not even think of drilling a borehole. We have a well In our compound and it's always full, during dry season. Most individuals and tenants are waiting for the landlord to run a borehole or the government to do so.

Before you start laying foundation of a building, you should have tried or checked where you can get water from, but no they won't.
Most people in Enugu barely take their bath.
PEOPLE IN ENUGU ARE ACTUALLY TURNING THIS ISSUE OF WATER SCARCITY TO A NORM.

off course agbani has good aquifer. agbani sandstone. even inside Enugu there is good aquifer along ugbene 2 abakpa and some other places. the government ought to have 100's boreholes that can supply water in different locations in Enugu
