Hello guys. Please I have some questions and need all the advice I can possibly get.

I submitted my first Study permit application on
* December 29, 2020, and got rejected May 26, 2021. (kindly check attached image 1 for the reasons for denial)

I submitted my second Study permit application on
* June 10, 2021.
I made sure to address the visa officer's concerns and also waited for the medical request ( which I did and passed).
To my greatest surprise after waiting since June 2021, till today, December 31st, I woke up to a refusal message from IRCC. (Kindly check attached image 2 for the reasons for denial).

My parents were the sponsors of my first application and after refusal, My older brother decided to be my sponsor as he had more than sufficient funds.

For the second application, I made sure to address that I did not have family ties in Canada and I explained that my ties are to Nigeria. I went further to state that I have aged parents that I have to come back to take care of. I also mentioned that my older brother was about to start up an IT company and he needed me to gain the knowledge required to run the company with him as soon as I am done with my studies.

Unfortunately, I got rejected and the reasons for denial were repeated. The only addition to the list was, denial based on travel history. I don't know if there was a mix-up. I am still shocked especially because of the long waiting period.

Kindly advice. Thank you
You gave too many information to the officer without satisfactory evidence including your older brother IT company about to start-up. that is associated with your purpose of visit...weighing the cost of funding the program ,it may not be a reasonable expenses ..your study plan did not satisfactory explained why you selected the program ,benefit and skills you will acquire and job prospects after completion... ..You are not seen as a genuine student..and was refused on purpose of visit
If there is a gap in your education ...You need to explain your ongoing activities in home country with satisfactory evidence like employment and income, personal bank account to avoid refusal on ties to country of origin...
And you need to get your Gcms note

Happy New Year NL,

100 USD is more than 120 CAD, will gtb or zenith bank naira mastercard be able to make payment of 120 CAD for application fee?
Yes, you can.
100 USD is equivalent to 125 CAD. So you're good to go.

Okay

There was a time ACCESS and GTB increased their Limits to $300 and many applicants confirmed using their cards for Visa payment, I don't know it has gone back to $100..

Peace
NorthernshoreTS:

Happy new year beautiful people. I tried using Access bank Visa debit card last night to pay for my wife's application but it kept declining. I had to use an American Express card.
So I'm not too sure Access bank cards work at the moment.

Yes, there are hall residences on campus but always very pricey thats why most international students go for apartments off campus.

Majorly, a shared apartment is a good way to start when you are new, then you can decide to move to somewhere else later when you get a grip of the enviroment. It also depends on your budget becuase you will need money for lot of running cost

You can check apartments close to your school. ( kijiji.com is your plug) but please dont pay any money to anyone till you get to Canada and see the person physically.

Hello House and Happy New Year to everyone.
I am new here and I want to say a big thank you to all for these very informative and support threads.

Please I have some queries I need your expertise on:
I am thinking of applying for a Diploma course in Engineering in one of these schools, however, my major concern is how to apply for the visa and the associated cost.

1. I am family and we both working. How can apply such that my wife and daughter will go with me?
2. We have roughly say 20m altogether and my tuition alone for the 2 years is about 8m, without living expenses. Is this sufficient and how will I confirm home-ties?
3. If I want to go alone first and apply for them later? Is 8m sufficient to get me by until I get a job while schooling?
4. The DOB on my previous passport/visa which was wrong has been corrected in my new passport, how will this play out when they check travel history?
5. Which school is the cheapest when it comes to all these engineering diploma courses?

Also, I have a masters degree, obtained in 2013, and have been working ever since.

Please advise me on how to proceed. I am hoping I could prep for Fall 2022.

Thank you, experts!

Happy new year everyone!

Please guys I need your help as I am at crossroads.

I got my visa to Canada and I am due to resume this January. However the money I have right now is enough to cover only my tuition but not my stay in Canada. I can also hustle funds to pay for my flight.

I have not yet paid my school fees of 8277CAD yet and on the admission letter it says you have to pay to get letter of enrollment.

Can I fly into Canada without paying for the school fees first?

I don't even know how to go about rent.

Please which should I pay for first?

Thank you.

Recently on nairaland there have been stories of some prospective student not being allowed to board their flights to canada without the enrollment letter. Considering this issue I wonder how you plan to fly to Canada without this letter or enrolment.
So I doubt if you will be allowed to board the flight without the letter . My advice to you is to at least pay your tuition to get the enrolment letter . If you are lucky, you might not be asked to show proof of fund for your upkeep at the port of entry.

Hello,

I don't quite get it. You have already secured visa and is to resume soon(January). You still haven't paid tuition. So I want to ask what are you resuming in January for? You have a chance that many are praying for. Just hope January term class isn't filled up yet.

From what I can deduct here, even the money for tuition maybe it isn't available cos why have the money and not pay your tuition deposit of atleast January term and get your enrolment letter? Then when you get there, you sort yourself out. You can pay a month rent when you get there.

Well as you know right from last year, enrollment letter is an important document that airlines demand before they allow you board flight. So the only advice is, pay your tuition and get your enrollment letter to avoid paying extra cost to adjust flight date.

Landing gist

I travelled to Montreal from Mexico via Air Canada. They have the best plane that I have entered. The screen was large and modern. The food was not free though, you would have to pay with your card. Only the drink was free.
I arrived in Montreal and the officer asked why I didn't travel directly from 9ja. They then asked for my enrollment letter and after then, I was issued my study permit. Everyone on the flight was selected for covid arrival testing and I (fully vaccinated) was required to quarantine until the result was out. The result came out on the third day of my arrival.
At the moment, it is not very cold here. The minimum temperature so far is -4 degrees.
Omo finally a landing gist. Be like people been dey hoard their landing gist. Congratulations.

I believe you will only need to pay for your January semester courses. So, pay school fees and secure your enrollment letter. That's gives you some money for rent and feeding.

When you arrive, get a part time (20 hrs) job. Popular ones are McDonald's and Tim Hortons. You can also get a cleaning or admin job in and by your school. You clean classes at night before everyone resume. This is one of the best international student hustle I know because some schools give perks like tuition discount to their staff. However, it is often man know man because of the numerous perks.

If you are required to pay your full tuition, pay it to secure your seat. Then borrow about enough for 2-3 months rent and feeding allowance. If you are prudent, you will pay it back in 3-5 months with a part time job after you arrive. Alternatively, reach out to your church branch or school alumni in your destination city in Canada for help. Some may have spare room for you. However, this option makes you to obligated to them. So, I will advise you to avoid it if you can.

Your part time job will pay your rent and feeding. You will also be allowed to work full time during summer break. So, considering you have your full tuition ready, your financial situation is far better than many international students. Don't loose your seat in the program.

My uncles & aunties in the house . @ Frankrobbn1, Lekiboboe, just mellow , kindly help with the questions below.
Age 16 +
Course : Nursing
1) I had once been denied a visiting visa in 2019 when I wanted to follow my mum their for vacation but my mum was given visa and she travelled then. Reason : " your ties in canada". Meanwhile my mum has close friends in Canada Hope this will not affect my study visa application. Also, my mum and dad have both been to Canada and USA.
2) I did biometrics in 2019. Do need i to do another one ?
3) Do I need to disclose to the vo that we have family friends in canada that can serve as guardians for me ?
3) My international passport is due for renewal in March 2023 & I am to resume school in Canada by September 2022. Do you advise I renew it before starting the visa processing in February ? Or I use this current one .
4) Can I apply vo my visa through NSE ?
5) What kind of properties and documents can my parents use as my home ties to Nigeria.

Visitor visa denial won’t affect study permit approval (I was denied visitor twice in the past but I still got study permit approval in one attempt)

You won’t need to do another biometrics. It’s usually valid for 10 years.

Also renew your passport because the visa they would issue can’t exceed your passport validity

You’re young, no one expects you to have properties.
You can use your parents/family as home ties. Just present it properly in your SOP
