This might be helpful for those waiting. My mum and younger sister did their biometrics on the 15th October, tracking online still says application received by DMC however, their collection email dropped this morning.

I think there is an issue with the online tracking.
Please how where you able to track yours online or you paid for it during your application?

if you go through the link which was sent to confirm payment, it will taker you to the TLS page - the same you used to book biometrics. There is an option to track your application there.

No, we didn't get asked to send any other information. I applied from the UK with UK bank account (not sure if that makes any difference) but I just left them to it, didn't chase or send any email.

Please how many months of bank statement does one need to provide for standard visit visa for a wedding?
Also, what's the least amount to have in the account.

Don’t ever mention crypto as a source of income. A lot of countries are very wary of the technology behind it. Also, have you forgotten that it is banned in Nigeria?? You will just be seen as a law breaking citizen.
Also, don’t use the same accounts you receive crypto deposits to apply for visa. There is no way to explain those deposits. You should have a dedicated bank account for your crypto transactions and this shouldn’t be mentioned ANYWHERE in your application.

I remember you posted in this thread on October 29, 2021 on page 619 that you invested in crypto and had 4 large deposits in your account. I remember responding to you on page 620 (screenshot below). The Nigerian Government has not expressly banned Nigerians from trading in crypto with any law. Until the Nigerian Government enacts a law banning cryptocurrency, it remains legal in Nigeria and can be declared on visa applications.

As my husband declared he was a full time crypto trader and we were issued UK visas it means that any applicant that declares that he is a crypto trader would not be refused a visa just because of that declaration. If he is refused a visa it is because of another reason.

My husband made a second trip alone to the UK in November 2021 and when he stated at the point of entry at Manchester Airport that he would stay for a little over 1 month, the UK Border Agency official asked him what he does in Nigeria and he stated that he is a crypto trader. He was not denied entry, the officer even joked that he would start trading cryptocurrency.

So please stop trying to make full time crypto traders scared of applying for visa and declaring their legitimate source of income.

Personally I would say 3 - 6 months. But I think the standard is 6 months. Just have enough to cover the cost of your trip and some money remaining to hold body when you come back from the trip.

Yes, and that is why I changed my biometric date and pushed it forward by 2 weeks! So that the crypto deposits of over N5million will not reflect in my bank statement!
Maybe your case is different but remember that crypto funding in Nigeria is no longer done through banks. It is now done through P2P and even the CBN is clamping down on people using P2P. Over the last month, CBN has been closing bank accounts of people who deal with crypto. No crypto related transaction is supposed to go through our accounts according to the CBN. How do they trace crypto traders? Because of the several LARGE DEPOSITS from different people that go into their accounts. The same large deposits that the UK visa officers are always refusing people for.
Whether we like it or not, seeing several deposits from different people into ones bank account will raise questions.
Personally, I have separated my crypto account from my regular savings/salary account in order to avoid wahala. Also, you can never know the bias of the ECO that is treating your application and if that person is skeptical towards the legitimacy of the crypto trading.
I’m a die hard supporter of crypto but let’s not pretend like there isn’t a worldwide bias against it.
Even the UK recently put restrictions on Binance (the No 1 crypto trading app in the world!).
Everyone’s case is different but if one can avoid mentioning crypto, it’s best to do so. Unless like your husband, that is his sole source of income.
Perhaps, your husband has several ties to Nigeria (properties, his wife & children) or he might have an extensive travel history.
Let’s be honest here, crypto trading isn’t a job that will tie someone to Nigeria because people can trade anywhere in the world. It’s very easy for traders to Japa.
Once again, CRYPTO TRADING IS NOT A TIE TO NIGERIA.
At the end of the day, it’s a 50/50 gamble!

Ellasdelight I will say you found favour, different officers deal with peoples applications and we have thousands of border officers in the Uk , some of them don’t even know what’s up they have to go to their supervisor to check somethings if there are issues or do a quick google search.

What Visa Officers want is truth, apply with your account, let your friend give you his address for them to know you’re not paying for accommodation, your statement is good.

Purpose of travel should just be straightforward “You love to travel, and you’re taking this opportunity as you have a host to cut down the cost of your stay in the UK”

Hopefully you’ll be granted visa.

The account is good , but remember she can't use more that 2 month disposable income to apply for a visa ? What she can do is to be sponsor by someone i.e husband or parents by transfer the sponsorship money into her account before she apply.

Her salary is 88k even her 2 month salary without deducting her monthly expenses can't fly

This is my little contribution

Good luck

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by cutebear: 8:48am On Jan 06, 2022
You have a good travel history. Go and register your business. I'm sure you have some deposits in your account that are more than 88k. You can't tell them that it's from a business when you can't prove it with registration. So, register the business, open a business account and start running it for the next few months. You should also start paying yourself monthly salary from the business account to your normal salary account (pay the same amount to yourself on the exact day of each month). This will show that you have multiple streams of income. Remember, based on several refusal letters we've seen on this thread, the ECOs believe that having a business account doesn't prove that you have access to the money. That is why you should pay yourself salary. Also try to keep your salary account as clean as possible. No random large deposits from people. Let that one go through your business account.
In addition, try to have sales invoices/receipt of sales. You need as much proof as possible because let's be honest, 88k salary job is not a strong tie to Nigeria. I was once denied when I was even earning about 350k with several work bonuses in millions.
Also, are you married? Do you have children? That can also support our application

Leave it. It's not a problem really. Did you indicate 5 days?
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by AmeliaT: 11:32am On Jan 06, 2022
6 months statement is ideal.
I won't say there's an exact amount you need to have in your account but do consider SIX things.

1. Length of stay. Let's imagine it is for 10 days.
2. Daily means of substinence. Something we ignore is that a lot of European countries have an amount they expect the average genuine tourist to spend per day based on the country of visit's standard of living- This includes accomodation, food, transport and basic entertainment. Let's say this is 100 Quid for boarding, food, transport and entertainment. It could be less if you're staying with friends. This brings your budget to 100 x 10= 1000 Quid.
3. You need to add your flight. On average, you can get a return for 600 Quid.
4. This brings the total cost of the trip to about 1600 Quid. The embassy uses Oanda Converter as their reference point for exchange rates. So, the total comes to N893, 735. Circa- 900,000 NGN.
5. You then declare whatever this amount is on your form as your intended holiday spend, now here is the tricky part. Many people will then ensure they have N1M in their account but the ECO rejected a friend for this and said that once the cost of trip is taken out, she wouldn't have enough to sustain herself upon her return to Nigeria and that nobody would clear 90% of their savings for a trip and as such he doesn't think it genuine that she intends to return. So, the advice I would give is to have 2-3 times the budget in Point 4 within the account.
6. Watch Outs; it would be more authentic if this money already exists with your accounts and is not being inflated at the last minute. So, depending on your earning power/potential and current state of account, you may need a few months to build this up organically.

I know people who got approved with about 2K GBP in their account whilst others with 7k GBP got disapproved. The important thing is to have a consistent thread that runs through the application that shows the ECO you are a genuine tourist with no desires to abscond as you have a productive life in Nigeria and you can genuinely afford the trip while there and will not seek public funds for any reason whilst returning to base promptly.

All the best!

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by AmeliaT: 11:47am On Jan 06, 2022
In the western world, there are a lot of principles around spending; which many people swear by and many more ignore. For instance, a man spends 2-3 months of his income on an engagement ring for his fiancé. People follow the 50:30:20 rule for spending and saving. Most people spend 5-15% of their annual income on vacations. This is about 2.5 weeks to 2 months of your salary on a holiday. So, people may have derived this guideline from there but there's really no hard and fast rule. Some people go on holiday once in 4 years and so can spend 6 months of their saved salary for this while some people go quarterly and spend less than a month's income on their holiday. It all depends on your earning power, frequency of travel, overall lifestyle and priorities.
