9th January, 2022

Leaders of Economic Community of West African States meeting in Accra showed utter disrespect to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Saturday.

Osinbajo who is representing President Muhammadu Buhari at the summit was pushed to the third row in a photograph taken by Osinbajo’s personal Photographer, Tolani Alli.

Osinbajo was hardly visible in the picture, as Macky Sall of Senegal, host Nana Akufo-Addo, Abubakar Ouattara of Ivory Coast and Maada Bio of Sierra Leone took the front row.

If this is the rule of diplomatic protocol, we think there is a something wrong for the rep of the leader of the biggest black nation on Earth to be turned into an ‘invisible man’ at the summit.

It is standard diplomatic protocol. Heads of State and Governments stand in front for photo sessions.
The advantage of being represented at the 'Highest Level' in such meetings.

Photo taken na disrespect?

Are the people in front row Vice presidents?

Of what difference would it make if Osinbajo had been in front row? Is it going to stop the insecurities in the country?

This is extremely disrespectful for Nigeria deliberately done by Ghana. This has shown the enmity Ghana has for Nigeria. Though, I'm upbeat that they wouldn't have done so if it were PMB!

THE COMMONLY ADOPTED PROTOCOL WORLD WIDE IS:

1. Hosting country decides the position.

2. Every hosting country places their leader in middle of the first row obviously

3. Then big shot country's leaders and friend/ally countries gets position close to the hosting country’s leader.

NOTE:
These arrangements of positions in group photo means a lot.

There can be other criterias or reasons too while positioning leaders.

Mostly it indicates intimacy among nations.

They know he is nothing but a mere commissioner.... seriously speaking Buhari made Nigeria a laughing stock in the committee of nations ...even Cameroun cities are boasting of 24 hours light

Re: Photo: ECOWAS Disrespects Buhari's Representative In Accra by PetroDolla2020: 8:59pm On Jan 10, 2022
Are you aware the arrangements follow ECOWAS protocols, which says priority is given to presidents/heads of states. every other person representing his country, who is not a president/head of state is positioned accordingly. Even Nigeria knows he rules.

And by the way, Nigeria has one vote in Ecowas, just like any other country in Ecowas. Nigeria is NOT treated any different from other Ecowas countries, in terms of protocol.

I hope I have sufficiently educated you, huh? Go and sin no more cool

Head of states are always placed at the front while representatives and heads of international agencies are always at the back. You actually want the Vice President to stay in front while heads of states stay at the back? Can you reference just one picture of an international summit where a Vice President was placed in front of a president?
