I decided to go to a govt hospital today. I got there after 9 am. Everywhere was already filled and only one doctor was available attending to d crowd.
I decided to go to a private hospital close by and there I met with a doctor and explained my symptoms to him.

My block pressure was done at d govt hospital and d nurse recorded. 150/110 for me.

When I got to d private d doctor did d bp himself and recorded 140/100.

I explained d symptoms of left arm pain and chest pain. He told me to off my cloth and listen to my heartbeat. And I explained other things to him.

He prescribed Amlodipine and Vasoprin for me and told me to take 1 daily and check back in d next two weeks to know d outcome.

Also prescribed Neurogesic cream to apply to my left arm that is paining me

Better than attending Nairaland 'clinic' where Hypertension is attributed to thinking as a causative agent, and Dates are prescribed as anti-hypertensives

Moreover, you should have just got an ECG done to categorically rule out the heart as the origin of the pain.

You want to stay here and lament till you get a stroke ni? Go to the hospital even if it is a government hospital.

Moreover, you should have just got an ECG done to categorically rule out the heart as the origin of the pain.

When I couldn't see a doctor at d general hospital, I went to their lab for ecg test but d attendant there asked me if a doctor asked me to do it but I said no. She now asked me who will interpret d result for me. She told me to secure an appointment with a doctor and explain my symptoms to him and if needed d doctor will direct me to go and do ecg test. But unfortunately I couldn't see doctor at d general hospital more than 50 people on ground already and only one doctor is attending to all. That's y I proceeded to d private hospital.

I told d private doctor if I need to do ecg but he said It's not needed.

But within me I still wish I do d ecg test.

We don't have any reasons to doubt his decisions since he has the advantage of examining you physically.
However, his major reason not to have gone for the ECG might be due to unavailability of the equipment rather than lack of clinical indication. Most hospitals in Nigeria actually don't have ECG machines, compared to those abroad where it's considered a very basic, but life saving equipment.

If you continue to feel the pain and think you need to do the ECG, you can go ahead and then post it here. We'll help you interpret it. If not for anything, it could give some psychological relief, if it comes out normal.

Please don't wait until next week, go to the general hospital as early as possible. With the symptoms you are having, an ECG is a must, do not take this lightly.

I dont even know any tangible thing I've done since morning. This doctor after delaying after several hours came and told me to stop d amlodipine and vasoprin d private doctor prescribed for me. He wrote out some tests and said it will cost me 11k. He said he'll need to do it in another hospital but I'm suspicious cos d test can be done in the teaching hospital. He collected d money from me and took my blood and urine sample right in his office. He told me to come back on Monday for d result. I'm.just been suspicious abt d whole thing......This place is a teaching hospital I

He wrote some drugs for me and told me to get them but I can't afford them cos I've given him all d money with me. He told me to buy Cocodemol Realflex and Clopidopril.


Medical personnel in d house pls what don't advice cos I'm still in d hospital and I feel like going back to him to collect back my money.

Even d Ecg test that took me there is not part of d test.

Please don't eat too much of Dates, it can also cause pile. Reduce your weight, reduse stress, don't over think and have enough sleep, you will be fine.

Yes he did....he mentioned a series of tests but we picked 3.....5k 5k 1k=11k

I got d result of the test I did last Friday today.....Pls guys give ur opinions.


The doctor said d test is okay but I'm still having pain in my chest, especially towards evening. I used to be fine in d morning.

He gave me drugs to take to lower my BP and told me to use them for 10 days and come back next week Friday.

I'm.still worried about what might be d cause.

I told him about Ecg but he said I shouldn't waste my money to do it that ECG will only reveal an issue already in d heart not what is causing d pain and he also asked me about some symptoms like if I'm coughing but I told him im not.

GUy you are just wasting your time and money.
Get a new bed.
Eat less but eat healthy to reduce your weight.
And make sure you excercise everyday.

What is happening to you is normal aging process, stop disturing yourself and nairaland.
How old are you ?

You did need that ekg.
Chest pain radiating to the arm and back can be indicative of myocardial infarction (Note: I’m not diagnosing you). But MI’s are serious because it causes reduced blood supply to your heart leading to cardiac muscle death.

And…if that’s what you have, you might need higher level of care than just BP medications.

About 2 months ago I noticed my left arm to my shoulder is paining me, I thought maybe I slept on it while sleeping but since then I've been experiencing d pain in d left arm.

5 days ago I've been experiencing. Chest pain and tight chest and this make me scared.

I went to check my BP. I checked it thrice. The first one was 145/86
2nd was 148/86
3rd was 148/81.

Pls medical practitioner in d house pls help me interpret this and tell me what to do pls.

Have you tried changing your foam mattress, it could be too weak for your comfort to sleep and wake up healthy

If you sleep on an old foam that sinks you in the middle because it's too soft, your shoulders and chest suffers it most and your heart feels it hence the blood pressure reading
