Bro....you are still very young and quite the appropriate time to travel. But my advice to you, strange though, is get married (if u’ve a girl u perfect together with) one should travel to UK on study visa and other hv a dependant visa. Before u guys finally get ur footing either in the UK or Canada. From experience, I got the chance to travel to the UK at age 30 but I was marooned in the UK after 5 years with singleness, loneliness, boredom which made me miserable. Thank God things are getting better. who no no no go no. My story

I won't support borrowing money for the move except if you are going to study hot IT courses like software engineering, AI,Cloud computing etc or you are going there as a permanent resident.
If you are going to study in demand IT courses,chances are that you will get a job quickly, stabilize and pay off your debt.
But if it is just ordinary course,it is not advisable as getting a job quickly is not guaranteed.
Abroad is very sweet and easy but it depends on how you arrive and what skills you have so people need to be very careful. There is a difference between moving abroad as a permanent resident and moving abroad as a student without rich parents.

But the good thing for you is that you are young and still have the time to recover from setbacks. If you look at it and still want to take the risk, do it now before hitting 30 cos your chances of settling down properly abroad reduces with age.

Concerning UK, I wouldn't advice you travel if you don't have enough money. The masters there is different from many European countries and America.
You'll be left with almost 50% of the fees that will be paid before the end of the masters program which is about 12 months. Also, most students are not allowed to work more than 20hrs/week when school is in session. Trust me bro, it's gonna be hard raising that fees. You have a good job in Nigeria, just save for few more years till you can afford about 80% of the fees on arrival. That would make your tjme there better and you'd go through less stress.

You better go now or you LL regret not taking the decision in 5yrs time. Even people that earn 800k are leaving the country. Divide your 300k by 500 and you LL realize how poor you are in dollars

Well, for those who have never traveled are so passionate about it, but i must tell you the truth in 3 ways

1.. the most boring place in the world is Europe. i lived in Madrid(Spain) for 8 months. i regretted my migration. I only left a small business that wasn't paying me up to 50k a month, when you are eating 200k.

2.. it's easier to succeed in Nigeria than anywhere else in the world. Yes read that again. people that traveled and make it, if they can apply the same energy here, they'd be twice richer.This is a story for another day

3.. Ask God his plan for your life. that's if you are not an atheist

Bros I’ll advise you to listen more to those that are already abroad and those of us here in Nigeria , some of us have an extremely unrealistic idea of what life abroad entails. But personally I think you should stay and survey for a bit and keep saving saving , so you can move out in your own terms ,and not in debt , when it’s time to leave.

At present, I’m currently in University of St. Andrews in UK. Before I left the country last year, my salary was in excess of 400k net. Mind you, I’m just 27 and unmarried.

Why did I tell you all these stories: abroad is an uncertain enterprise. I may have strong academic record but I am a lawyer. It is extremely competitive here. Even if you’re in tech, there are thousands of Indians and other immigrants flocking into Europe every single year. It is way more competitive than people make it seem.

You’re not guaranteed of success here. Earning 9 - 10£ per hour may seem big when you convert it to Naira but it is not. When other expenses eat into your income, you may not be left with so many things after everything. Services are so ridiculously expensive here. And combining school with work during winter is hell. Real hell.

But should that stop you from coming over. I don’t think it should. The quality of life you will have here is top notch. You may meet amazing people and the masters you get here would definitely boost your chances of getting a job either here or back home.

All I just have to advise you is that you shouldn’t be slave to abroad. It’s not everyone abroad that will be more successful than those in Nigeria. Some in Nigeria will make more money and become more successful than some of us. Don’t run out of the country just because others are doing it and out of frustration. I hope this helps

Why leave only to go and suffer abroad, you won't get a decent job there and your bills will be very high. What's your business with elections are you the one contesting, just live your life .

I know so many people suffering and washing dishes in Germany. Living in public houses full of black people and it gets crazy cold not to mention racist attacks, use your sense op develop yourself it's easier to make it here than there

One of the driving forces towards wanting to travel out is the fear of 2023 elections and the fact that many of my friends we finished together are all travelling out. Yeah, i know the second reason doesn't make sense, but that`s just me being honest here.

My plan now is to keep working here in Nigeria probably for about 3/4 years more, live the baby boy life, develop relevant skills then get a job over there or go for an MBA. 3/4 years from now i should have saved more than 2million for travel.

Also note i will be turning 26 towards the end of the year, so i think there`s still a bit of time on my end.

I need advice from you guys, is this a sensible idea putting into consideration things that could go wrong pre/post elections, the current standard of living in Lagos and the current and future exchange rates.

I have noticed the crazy rush to leave the country among we youths but i have also noticed that those that have good paying jobs in multinationals, fintechs, banks, govt etc are not bothered about leaving the country. Also noticed most of my friends who left were all earning less than 100k in salary.

The most expensive thing a human needs is shelter. When everything has crashed, if you own a house, you won't become desperate.

If things go south abroad, you can always come back to your personal house in Nigeria and be proud and broke in peace.

200 to 300k mean you are paid well? Don't deceive yourself. I get paid above 600k, other bonuses and allowance exclusive but I don't think I will still be in this country by the end of 2023.

Save enough and jet out of this country once you get the opportunity. Nigeria has no future.

Why are you afraid of 2023 election? Did you foresee any war? Hope you are not a prophet of doom or rather using this as an excuse to Japa.
Well in this era of remote work I don’t see any reason why people still want to enslave themselves in a foreign land . My advise is to develop yourself on any remote work skill and live comfortable anywhere you are.
Don’t let anyone deceive you is raining everywhere. There are homeless people in USA, Paris etc I have seen.
Listen to foreign news like Ajazera and EuroNews . Travel to visit the country you wish to migrate to before you make that decision to avoid engaging yourself to illegal means of survival.

How much are you earning currently and how much do you spend ? Yes they have better environment and you have peace of mind but not 100% (racist ) meanwhile most Nigerians are not travelling for peace of mind, they want greener pasture and is not as easy as you said otherwise Nigerians wouldn't be committing crime abroad.
I weep for this country because the youths that supposed to take over government and fix the country are the one running away and keep blaming the old people in leadership forgotten that the youths contribute to the development of that country they are running to. Our mumu suppose don do by now

I started working at 22, and i was earning over 200k then, it looked like a very good pay for a young boy, in fact it is a very good pay for a young boy. I thought of travelling to do my maters but after listening to advices from a lot of people, i stayed back.

Right now, i will turn 28 this year and i earn over 400k, i want to let you know that i am leaving this country by September.

that 400k cannot even maintain the lifestyle i was living when i was 22. sometime , i feel like i spent the last 5 years of my life chasing shadows

if i was in the UK, 5 years is enough time for me to stabilize and set up my life.

the economy keeps getting bad, even though i still have money to play around with, walahi i am feeling the heat of the economy like crazy. people that are requesting help from me has increased by 10 times in the last 2 years.

a lot of sorry cases left and right around me. i've made up my mind, no matter what comes may, i'm gone by september.
