I love the space between lines of stalls in the market. Highly commendable.

Well done Umahi

It’s nice but i think the space could have been managed a bit better. Part of the space could have had grassed sitting areas under trees where shoppers could relax. Presently, the concrete looks a bit too much!

It's not too late anyway. That's why I appreciate the space because it gives room for future beatification. It's a matter of breaking concrete in the middle. Local government chairmen who send touts into the market for revenue collection can at least do that.

Ebonyi airport nko?
Re: Update On Developments in Ebonyi state (photos) by iKnee: 3:54pm On Feb 03, 2022
IGBOSON1:
Exactly!

That's a Quality Street in the making! Notice the gutters are gonna be covered, and there's enough space between the road and perimeter wall of the properties either for grassing or sidewalks! smiley
the covered drainage is obviously gonna be the sidewalk while the space between the wall and the covered drainage will be the bed for landscaping.

Very delightful to see, and I must say, the underground tussle between Gov Obiano of Anambra state and Gov Umahi of Ebonyi state is very healthy because it’s really telling on their respective states..

Changing the name of that street in Awka from Abklk Rd to Club rd is where all this “developmental show off” started..

First time in the history of South Eastern Nigeria where two Elephants fought and it graced the grass instead of ruining it!!

Kudos kiss

New housing project grin
So glad about this housing estate. I pray more like that are set up in different areas in the state capital to help boost growth of real estates in Abakaliki.

Interview with Ebonyi commissioner for information.

At 6.20, he mentioned that Ibeto cement is setting up his cement plant in the state and has made some initial investments in this regard. Would like to know more about this.

There's also good drone shots and pics shown in the clip of other soon to be launched projects in the state like the medical university and shopping mall. They really did a good job with that mall....it looks so much better than what i saw of it the last time, and the university is not only well built, but it looks like they're equipping it properly too.

At 7.44, Governor Umahi talks of plans for a railway project that will link landmark destinations in the state like the airport, and King David university with the capital. He said the vision is to eventually link all the LGAs by rail.

I hope this comes to fruition, as it will help open up the state to investors and visitors alike. A scenic riverside town like Afikpo, for instance, could see investments in highrise riverside apartment blocks which could have tenants and owners of apartments commuting to Abakaliki for work while living in Afikpo. At most it would be a 30 minute ride either way.

The gov't needs to find willing investors that can take up the project on a BOT basis. If Soludo could get a similar project going in Anambra, i reckon the investors would have recouped their entire investment in as little as 6 to 7 years.

Pic is Ndibe river.

That’s how virgin the banks of the Hudson River would have looked before the arrival of the first settlers that built New York!

We need to start taking proper advantage of the many rivers and lakes that pass through or border many of our cities and villages….like the Niger or Oguta lake for instance! Had Ebonyi been a country or had Afikpo been a principality like Monaco or the Vatican, it would have been easier to bring the vision Umahi has for the state to fruition!

We underestimate how river rich Igboland is. And they all connect one way or another. You can actually move through all of Igboland using boats alone. If we take advantage of that, we will have a resource greater than road and rail combine.

I am really concerned about the level of work in that Nkalagu cement plant by ibeto. I wished Ibeto had completed it so as to give Dangote a chase of his money

Can see some pics of ongoing works at the airport were attached above. Nice to see the work progressing speedily and that they planted the greenery on time so it can take hold and mature a bit by opening day.

It's amazing seeing what direct labour can achieve when managed well, but i hope they've taken adequate safety measures so no one falls down from those heights they're working on. For such a major project, i'm surprised there's no cranes to help with the heavy lifting.

Can see Umahi wants to cover the airport with his usual multi-colour riot scheme. Please, can anyone close to him help us tell him to use mainly a neutral colour scheme for the airport as too much colour riot isn't in keeping with the professional/serious tone a airport is supposed to have.

All in all, a good job so far.

this man choice of colour is very bad, i have no doubt this Mega Airport will be spoilt with indiscriminate use of multi- colours. Looking ugly already like a Chinese toy project.
