Just seen this feature on the new Ebonyi airport.

They’ve done the apron, and are on the runway and terminal building...which looks like it’s going to be quite durable and expansive. But still no sign of the control-tower.

Could this be one of the secrets to the states’ wealth!? I’d love to see the figures for what the they make, by way of IGR, from this business! I hope it’s being regulated properly, and that the state gov’t and Afikpo LG aren’t being cheated and shortchanged!

I daresay, i'm mightily impressed with how it's all coming together nicely. Wasn't initially a fan of all these multi-colours and lights that Umahi seems to like, but i guess it doesn't look bad they way they've done it here.

This shows that you don't need the FG to develop your state Ebonyi with their tiny FG allocation are doing all these now imagine what would happen if states like Delta, Rivers or even Lagos had governors like Umahi they'd be getting on the level of Joburg and then onto first world nation status in no less then 10 years.

Umahi should contest for presidency honestly.

Update on construction works at Ebonyi airport.

From what's shown of the terminal building, it's impressive and shows it will be a massive terminal. The state is obviously building for the future.

Part of Umahis' cost-cutting measures is the use of local labour in constructing projects in the state....and it's nice to see the labour comes from other states as well like Benue and Cross-River states. This cost-saving measure can only be taken so far on a techinally sensitive project like a airport, esp' as it has to meet specific national and int'l safety and operational standards for the airport to be accredited. Once the main structures of the terminal, control-tower, etc, are in place, then the state gov't has to bring in qualified contractors to do the jobs that require technical expertise....this is where the main money will be spent, and the governor should ensure corners are not cut, but everything done to world-class standards like we saw with Anambra int'l airport.

Wish the recorder of the clip zoomed in on the plans stuck on the wall, so we could see them in detail. We're still yet to see any 3-D rendering of the terminal buildings layout.

I think i heard where they discussed the airport will be linked up with a rail-line. This would help with ease of movement.

Doubt it....otherwise it would have been known by now. We need more of these type of modern/corporate structures in our cities, and not just the ‘mansion type’ that we’re used to seeing!

This one has multi-level car parking, which is a good idea for busy, commercial cities such as Onitsha and Aba!
