I agree with you.... You don't have to greet your boss although if it becomes persistent, it puts a strain on the work relationship. The problem here is.... the boss actually asked him why he didn't greet him meaning the boss was not expecting a confrontation. The OP immediately confronted the boss in the presence of others. If the boss didn't say anything, it is different. Finally, the culture abroad is different. You call everyone by their first names but not in Nigeria. I worked with a tv station in Lagos without Salary for a year, I greet the Chairman CEO with a smile every time we meet, When I could not cope and longer I resigned and was paid all my arrears. There are official ways to handle official issues instead of being rude .
