So after Shehu Shagari when PDP ruled for 16yrs they never deemed it fit to upgrade our military armaments?

It took Buhari to come and do those upgrades.

PDP is beyond a failure of a party

Why not face the problem and leave PDP

The problem is and has always been PDP. Period.

They had 16yrs and did absolutely nothing but looting the nation blind. Is it a lie that after Shehu Shagari PDP never added one armament to our military? Is it a lie?

The Nigerian Airforce Mikoyan Gurvenich Mig 21 are Russian built Fighter-interceptors purchased in the 1970's. They are presently RETIRED. 35 aircrafts were purchased, they participated in the Nigeria-Chadian conflict of 1982.
They were retired in the 1990s due to lack of spares and ageing airframes.

The military failed to spend on Defense

OBJ failed to spend on them too

Nah the result we dey see now
The military always has a hefty budget even under OBJ.
But then, Nigeria i's a very poor country we should spend on more important things not war aircrafts

For good 16 years PDP bought not even one aircraft.
Thank God PDP did not waste our money on this nonsense.
A country of staving people and you want to spend billions to buy these nonsense and billions more to maintain them.
In the last 10 years, we have had more millitry plane crash than any country in Africa.
With these multi-billion dollar planes we can't defeat bokoharam yet some one would justify their purchase.

@captainstephen the political class can steal and act all crazy because they know that if Nigerians come for their heads, they just need to send the military to go kill some Nigerians, and the other remaining Nigerians will go home out of fear.

Tomorrow a thief like Tinubu would be made president, and when Nigerians start protesting against the corruption in his government, he just needs to send soldiers to go quell such a protest by any means. And these soldiers will go shooting at unarmed Nigerians in the name of being patriotic.
illumined999333:
Everyone knows Nigeria shouldn't be a country, but for oil well. I'm sure you've heard about President Zelensky, he chose not to runaway, he chose to stay and defend his land, and he might even lose his life going forward. You can feel the strong sense of nationhood existing within the minds of Ukrainians. Now back to Nigeria, can you tell me one politician who wouldn't use the nearest available airport to get out of Nigeria, if he feels his life is being threatened? Not even Buhari would stay in Nigeria to fight once he understands that Abuja would be invaded in the next days to come, but same Buhari will send soldiers to go kill Lekki unarmed protesters and ipob protesters, Sunday Ignoho and other people kicking against the unjust system, and the military will carry out his stupid orders. And you wonder why people rejoice when soldiers die? The Nigeria military is the problem of Nigeria. The day you people stop obeying stupid orders from greedy politicians who don't love the country, that's the day Nigeria begins her journey to progress, and that's the day the political class learn to be serious at their jobs.

You are a fool for mentioning Buhari and PDP in this matter.
Is it Buhari's money? Obasanjo did not focus on defense because there wasn't need for it then. Boko Haram wasn't unleashed by the Northern elites then. He focused on the economy and infrastructures. Jonathan did focus on security and defence unfortunately he was surrounded by wolves who devoured all the money. His time was still ok, at least economy and infrastructures wasn't that bad.
This your Buhari have killed and buried the country with nepotistic and religious agenda. So what are you hailing him for.

These airframes are largely symbolic; when called to action they may perform like the train stranded in a forest owing lack of fuel(diesel).
