The ruling All Progressives Congress APC has dismissed a letter written to it by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the need to give the Commission a 21-day notice for its national convention slated for March 26.

Spokesman of the party’s Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee CECPC, Barr. Ismaila Ahmed disclosed this at a news conference Friday in Abuja.

He said the party had earlier intimated the commission of its intent to conduct its national convention on February 26 and that what is now required for its new date of March 26 is simply a notice of an adjustment and not a fresh 21-day notice.

Section 82 (2-3) of the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended) makes it mandatory for all registered POLITICAL PARTIES IN NIGERIA TO INVOLVE INEC IN ANY MEETING, congress or convention WHERE elections or DECISIONS TO NOMINATE EXECUTIVES or governing bodies OF THE PARTY SHALL BE TAKEN.

None of this was carried out before buni assigned power to bello, therefore any meeting Bello is holding is non and void

Your problem is comprehension. Buni didn't need the permission of INEC to delegate power to Bello. His position is not substantive but acting in the absence of Buni.

The NEC meeting is not for nominating executives so INEC is not needed neither were they supposed to be notified abinitio.

bumi is the NEC chairman of apc, if he must transmit his powers to anybody whether in acting capacity he must get the permission of INEC, the constitution is clear as day not defined by your emotions

Whether Bello acts on buni behalf it doesn't change the fact that he would be excersing all the powers of the Chairman including his secretary if he was also legal

There are three events INEC must be physically present at to observe and sign

(1) party convention

(2) party congress

(3) Party change of officers, assignment of position)
