Eweeeeeeey!

On Upwork, I have lost a lot of clients because I'm Nigerian.

I send them brilliant proposals for jobs I am very sure I can handle.. And I send these proposals when the total proposals submitted by other pitchers are not up to 3, but yet, I'm being dumped to the side... Nothing spoil, LinkedIn got my back, and Nairaland has been helpful too...

I'm Naija and I'm proud... We meuvvve

By the way, I'm available for your writing and graphics design jobs, see my signature below, thanks

Your friend lied. No international organization will discriminate based on nationality and openly declare so. Didn’t say it can’t happen but they would never say it happened.

I have worked internationally for a decade

When you talk against fraud and Yahoo Yahoo and the serious negative impact it has on innocent Nigerians looking beyond the shores of the country for businesses and Jobs, you'd be attacked. There is no greater factor that has literally hindered Nigerians from getting remote jobs, other than this Yahoo Yahoo of a thing.

The desperate drive by Nigerian leaders to corruptly enrich themselves is negatively affecting Nigeria’s image abroad,

Anyone watching the goings-on in the country would conclude that the leadership in Nigeria suffers from primitive acquisitive tendencies and believes solely in the accumulation of wealth at all costs.

“This attitude severely impedes Nigeria’s socio-economic development, with statistics showing that tens of millions of Nigerians live on less that $1 (N580) a day” Whose Responsibility?”

Nigerian’s dwindling reputation abroad is not only hinged on isolated cases of some dubious Nigerian’s abroad, but also on corruption, which has become an all-pervasive feature in Nigeria’s institutions.

“Instead of efficiently utilizing public funds for the development of the country, unscrupulous politicians use the financial resources of the state as private means” .

Yes, I remembered working for a popular Canadian website community with over 200,000 members as an SEO expert. I worked 2 to 3 hrs per day from Monday to Friday, and I was paid $200 per week back then. The CEO complained that he can't pay a Nigerian that much because the minimum wage in Nigeria was barely $70. He later terminates the job after 2 weeks because he feels I am earning too much as a Nigerian.

Hypocrisy is when you hail Yahoo boys and expect a foreign firm to hire you to work for them

Do you know if the owner of the company you want to work for has been scammed by the Yahoo boys tarnishing the image this country has?

Or even their relatives....

For every Nigerian turned down for a job offer, there are many more getting jobs. Most of those companies that turn people down, in the first place, are discriminatory. For some others, it could be a time zone issue which could make sense depending on whether the person has to be live with his colleagues while he is working...

Let's keep encouraging each other... most of us will land very sweet and juicy offers. cool
